    Scam calls are the ones that annoy me like ones saying "there is a problem with your computer" My dad got one so i took over the call but pled ignorance and lead the person ....my fav was when he asked me to click on the bottom left hand corner on the screen and i asked "your left or my left ?"

      Eastyy better yet, syskey them, then have them open their BIOS and lock their BIOS, then setting up a program on your computer to flood their phones with “this won’t stop until you stop scamming” over TTS bots.

    I am a collector for a sub-prime auto financing company. Here's a big tip. If you don't want collectors calling you, all you have to say is "do not call this number again" or something like that. By law we have to remove your number and are not aloud to call it. If you do get a call from a collection agency after you tell them to remove your number, you can essentially sue the company for breaking FDCPA guidelines. If you have any further questions I will try my best to answer them for you.

    • @FiredUpFeminist
      @FiredUpFeminist 5 лет назад

      @Deanassar Calls from bill collectors such as yourself are NOT the types of calls everyone is speaking about here. Most Robocalls are actually not placed by people but by computers (hence the term robo as in robot) and when I answer my home phone, for example, a computerized voice is on the other end. Telling her to "remove me from your call list" does little good since she's not real and cannot hear me.
      Last week this computerized voice called my house on my landline pretending to be from the local Apple store, in attempt to gain my iCloud password, 55 times over a period of two days. The first call showed it was from the local Apple store but rather than "dial one" as the caller advised, I called the store myself.
      Turns out they had been inundated with calls from the public who had also received calls by this Robocaller. So I blocked the Apple store's number and the next thing I knew, Robocalls started flooding in from the same caller with caller iD showing "Unknown Caller" from that point on, which cannot be blocked.

    My mom had early onset Alzheimer's and one of the Microsoft Support scammers tricked her into giving them access to her computer and bank account. They withdrew $280 a month (sometimes more) for nearly two years. It wasn't until she got to the point that she could no longer take care of her finances and I started doing them that I noticed what was happening. I still get 10 to 20 calls a day from scam artists trying to trick her, they even ask for her by name. They don't seem to know that she passed away in May. Recently they've even started spoofing local numbers with the correct name showing on the caller ID. It takes some really scummy people to take advantage of people that are sick.

  • @microtavor5
    @microtavor5 6 лет назад +1

    You can set up a system where new callers need to press a number like 0 on the keypad to get forwarded to you phone and are then whitelisted for future calls. You can even run it off of a Raspberry PI Zero . The problem is that this is a little complicated to set up and when enough people do it it'll be incentive to find a work around. Also because of the number spoofing, blacklisting numbers is basically useless and "Do not call lists" are more of a feel good solution.

  • @ryanjonesky

    Simple solution. When making a legit phone call, the # you're calling will prompt you to dial 1 which will enable athe call to go to the person you're trying to reach. If a robocall is placed it will be stuck on the prompt stage and will never go through. Slight inconvenience for those making a call but effective. This is available for landlines.

    When an unknown number shows up (or more frequently, a missed call), i usualy just ignore it. But this gets way out of control when you are waiting for a call from an unknown number. I recently sent my laptop to a repair service and since all the technicians use their seperate landline numbers at the company to call their client, it is almost impossible to figure out whether that missed call i got was from a telemarketer or the call from the technician. And worst of all, almost all of these numbers disconnect as soon as you redial (as a polite move) since it is considered impolite to not call back a missed call, the same way that it is rude to not reply to a message within a certain period of time.

    I thought by "robocalling" you'd mean those robots where you pick up the phone and its an English speaking woman all "im calling from [gibberish] limited, we heard you were recently in a car accident, is that true?" and when you say yes you get disconnected from the person that doesnt exist and get forwarded to some non-English speaker and typically then changed sex too. I love responding to them in various ways, my favourite when they ask how are you, I pretend to start crying "my wife died in the car accident". They normally then hangup. Which is kinda confusing since I thought they wanted me to be in a car accident. That and "yeah I just crashed my car answering your phone call".

    Who here don't want notification for every video uploaded? There is enough messages and notifications already, i don't need more. I watch the videos when i want, and i know what i want to look at, dont need any notification for that.

    Could you simply play fax machine or dial-up internet sounds over the phone when they call?
    They flag that as a bad number, I know if you play the disconnected number message they might stop calling.

    There is a case in hong kong reated to spam calls. Not a long time a go, a woman keep receiving calls that start with 3 like 3123 4567. Normally these kind of number shoukd only be used by companies and most them are spam call. So that the woman refuced to accept the call and keep deny it. Note that she keep receiving the same call over 30 times wasted around 40mins. Than she finally wanted to accept the call told them stop calling her, but when she accepted the and just want to told them, the other side told her they are from the A&E department. She don't believe that at the beginning but soon after they told her her husband's name and her home adress id card number and his id card number she finally started to believe it. The doctor told her that her husband was injured in a car crashes and wating for her approve to begin his surgery. And the story was recovered by the doctor at that time in a tv show.
    Sorry for my poor English.

    I simply don’t answer any call from an unknown number. if they don’t leave a message, it wasn’t important.
    And I also block any unknown numbers I know to be robocalls.
    I’m not going to let them waste my time.

    I'm on my own countries do not call registry but so many companies don't even regularly cross reference their database with the dnc database that I still get called all the time. I just tell them that they're in breach of federal law by calling me and I want their details so I can complain to the relevant government watchdog who will gladly send them a fine.

    1:55 Luckily, that doesn't work in the country I live in, and I could see that it was a +91 (for India), so i was very sure it was a tech support scammer.
    2:19 For example, Samsung Experience 8.x and later (on Galaxy S8, Note8, and later models) have Hiya service built in, while Cyanogen, when they were still around, used Truecaller. Both of those services are available as separate apps for other Android phones, but I recommend the former.
