Good to meet you today! Just catching up on videos. The building on the disused platform at Cromford is now a holiday cottage, we stayed there twice before moving up here.
Now that a cliff-hanger to leave the video on! But a lovely video, have been to Belper once and thought it was a nice place. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a nice little railway. Travelled on the day the extension to Duffield opened
Welcome to my part of the world! Granted I'm a bit the other way out of Derby at Long Eaton, but I am often about on the Derwent Valley Line area, sometimes on the TrentBarton Sixes or Transpeak if I am going north of Matlock. Belper, has a fantastic chippy called George's (Got 2 branches near me too), that is a must. Matlock Bath is obviously the main place to be, with all the sights and sounds, Cable Car etc, as well as my fave chippy, The Promenade :) Great area.
Brilliant video Jen, the Derwent valley line is a beautiful line. Voyagers being everywhere, that's not good lol. The hurt arms is a hilarious name for a pub lol
Shipley station's also on a triangular junction and has platforms on all three sides. Virginia Water used to be but the track has long since been lifted on the third side and I don't know whether it ever had platforms.
Trains on this line looks a lot more optimistic, than few years ago. Single 153 unit was typical what You can expected there, sometimes 156 (2cars) or very rarely 158 (2 cars) In very busy times, they run 156+153 in 3 car set, and I never seen 4 car sets before 170's. So this is very positive :)
One of my favourite lines, that I happen to ride last week! This was unplanned, as we'd been in Bakewell for a pudding....and fish & chips...and an open top bus around the peaks, and we planned to get the 6.1 back to Derby......but the bus had broke down, so we caught a 172 (no decimal point!) to Matlock via some very steep hills and narrow roads, then caught the train instead!
The supermarket at Belper used to be a Gateway and is built on the site of the original station buildings. The bus numbers, 6.1 to 6.4, refer to a core service up the A6 from Derby to Belper with different onward destinations
This is my local line! So cool of you to visit it. The canal walk is lovely I am really happy you got to do it 😊. I did a week of work experience at the Cromford mills heritage site a few years ago and getting to wait at the station was so lovely.
i haven't been to Cromford Station. I mainly know the northern half of Derbyshire Dales and haven't been south of Matlock recently. One place I do recommend going though is the Mellor design museum which is only a few minutes walk from Hathersage station.
Don't remember if Dinting had platforms on the third side but no matter, thanks for doing justice to the Cromford Canal, one of the earliest canal restoration projects. Wonder if the TransPeak bus still runs \m/
Oooh, an actual iced (swiss) bun! Do Greggs even do these any more? I remember they used to, back in the olden days of the '90s, but whenever I'm back in the UK and I stop in to look and see if they have any, they never do. How dare!
Jen voyager’s are really nice trains you need to change your ideas about them. They are the work horses of cross country just like the love of the HSTs.
Trivia, If you remember Alex Hornsby (MD, now gone to McGills in Scotland) that has now left Transdev, he started at TrentBarton, who runs that very Sixes 6.4 bus.
It’s my local railway station and it’s on the derwent valley line but it’s inbetween derby and Nottingham it’s a old station it use to have 4 platforms it only has 2 now but it has a level crossing
Don't get me started on trentbarton bus numbering. My local route is "the threes", numbered A, B and C. The circular route around my town is Connect 🟢 and 🔵. Grrr.

Hi Jen, That "Oasis" building at Cromford Station was visited I believe, by Michael Portillo on his telivised Railway Journeys...
Now that a cliff-hanger to leave the video on! But a lovely video, have been to Belper once and thought it was a nice place. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a nice little railway. Travelled on the day the extension to Duffield opened
This is Jen at her best - thank you for all the videos
Love those old, now singled stations. So neat!

Welcome to my Home Town Jen and what a Beautiful Line it is
The Trans-Peak used to go all the way from Manchester down to Derby....
im liking all the stations & all the stations look really lovely stations brilliant vlog
There's sooo much I could tell you about Ambergate haha I stayed at The Hurt Arms just by the station
How did it get that name? I guess Hurt is a local place or someone's name, rather than part of the body 😏
Brilliant video Jen, the Derwent valley line is a beautiful line. Voyagers being everywhere, that's not good lol. The hurt arms is a hilarious name for a pub lol
4:38 It's called "bike rack" fencing or barricade, and is a very common type of low-security crowd control fencing.

Great vlog Jen. I’ve ridden this line last year but other than the 2 terminals I haven’t actually been to any between stations.
Excellent really looking forward to part 2. I have been there on holiday before what a beautiful place.
Those canals were trally pretty :)
Derbyshire seems to have a lot of weird bus numbers, 6 point this, 9 point that etc. I suppose it keeps the maths geeks happy 😂
Lovely area, only visited Belper and Matlock.

Jen drinks in a coffee shop that isn’t Costa! 😳 How was this not on the nightly news that night??! 😂
At least the new train isn’t a Voyager?
Also something ironic about doing my HRT shot watching a Jen video lol.
More like iconic!
At 8:20 I thought you'd said "toucan exchanges" and was really curious what that was for a second :D
You can get the train from Manchester to Buxton, then the Transpeak bus from Buxton down to Bakewell, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Derby.
Great video Jen 😊
Got half way through and only noticed, no music!
that stone way-marker was a delight

Great video as usual Jen!
Narrator: Tune in next week for more silly adventures with Jen!

Soooo much interesting history in that ares
“My arm’s hurting.” 🙄🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gleisdreieeck on the Berlin underground system, is ,I think a triangular station hence the name triangle platforms
I'm disappointed you didn't try your Manc accent, Jen. SUNCHIIIIIIIINEEEEE.
Meridians are Class 222 part of the Voyager family. Originally nine cars and six cars. Built in UK and Brugge. Just better less stinky toilets.
Think I'm going have to travel from Cromford to Romford now, although the latter is not as pretty. 😊
Trains Station 🚉
Jen voyager’s are really nice trains you need to change your ideas about them. They are the work horses of cross country just like the love of the HSTs.
Gorgeous
Didn't know the late legendary David Duffield had a station named after him.
stations like belper should have signs to help you find it.
I think Shipley is a triangular station
wait do you have more footage of the pupper at about 9:40?
i thought transdev was a bit over the top but 6.4? 6. BLOODY 4???
Trivia, If you remember Alex Hornsby (MD, now gone to McGills in Scotland) that has now left Transdev, he started at TrentBarton, who runs that very Sixes 6.4 bus.
@@stanmarsh14 probably why then. gone to change up another bus company
Visit every station on the Far North line for Hard Mode
Not likely to be a Voyager Jen. EMR use Meridian class 222.
I live in Derby
You forgot to visit spondon
What makes you say that?
It’s my local railway station and it’s on the derwent valley line but it’s inbetween derby and Nottingham it’s a old station it use to have 4 platforms it only has 2 now but it has a level crossing
I find the initials EMR rather discomforting as they also stand for European Metal Recycling, who I am sure have scapped many trains over the years.
1:50 Is this a video editing joke or a joke about something else? :)
Could be either!
What’s the story…..
Don't get me started on trentbarton bus numbering. My local route is "the threes", numbered A, B and C. The circular route around my town is Connect 🟢 and 🔵. Grrr.
You could try Sawley / Long Eaton with the (Blue) Skylink :D
@@stanmarsh14 I did, once. Of course there's also the i4 (why it has a lower case 'i' I don't know)
@@GryphLane otherwise it might look like 14!
@@caramelldansen2204Or they could just call it, I dunno, 4? Or even 'the four', if it must be consistent?
