  • Lots of things on the agenda for today. We'll start off by taking a look at the creek and how much the water has receded since yesterday. After that it's time to get to work. We'll use some Bondo on the rusted area which connects the hood. After that we'll fight with the sandblaster until I decided to go another route. Finally we'll get our first coat of primer onto the rear of the excavator!

I do auto repair, please buy a respirator for your lungs sake some of those older paints are deadly. Some advice on the spray gun less pressure/more fluid, spray a piece of paper with a quick burst it should make a neat oval. When you spray hold your wrist straight and move your whole arm to keep even distance, you will leave a noticeable "stroke" of paint similar to if you were using a roller but smoother. That will matter more for the paint than the primer. The repair area on the cab just sand by hand with 80 grit, the grinder is to aggressive and will rip the bondo off every time. Good luck, can't wait to see the finished colors.

Love the music choices! Such a beautiful day! And, when the contrail caught your eye... our Spartan! Squirrel... we do so love you! That machine sure has come a long, long way, but it's a testament to how hard you work on things you care about. Those dings and dents just give it character. It's beautiful because it's yours and it does its job very well. These videos are a pleasure to watch! Thank you so much for sharing them with us.

I would say running the excavator is fun, repairing the excavator is fun, maintaining the excavator is fun, even putting a track back on in the mud with the right friends can be fun; grinding, sanding and painting anything in never my idea of fun. Don't make it too pretty you will be afraid to scrap it up. Thank you for sharing.

Most won't realize how much work that painting is. The prep work to paint is a LOT of time. I look forward to seeing all the matte black going on sir.

You should use a dual action sander to remove the paint.

Best thing you ccould have done is get some paint stripper, slap it on there and just scrape the paint off and the remaining paint hit with the wire wheel, at least thats how i did mine and it went quite fast.

The excavator is to be coming along nicely and your right it does look allot better with the new primer. Keep up the outstanding job, everything appears to be coming along nicely.

Great update vid. I agree with the other commenters. The added music to the painting montage was a perfect touch. Well done, good Sir!

Primer coat looks good! You make back-breaking work seem easy. Lots of water still pouring out of your bridge! 🌈

Hey GS! Nice vid again bro. I have one suggestion for ya. Place some concrete/boulders (or both) at the bottom of the collapsed part of the bridge so the bridge can't wash away. We in the Netherlands (Dutch Viking ;) ) do it like that so the water can't beat us. Keep up the great content bro!

A couple of well places larger boulders would go a long way to support that crush rock ... would also help with the erosion. Not massive boulders but medium-sized... you get what I mean 😏

GS, hold the spray gun flat the surface & move your arm right to left. You will get better coverage that way. Good job, looks great
