I am happy the Otto Audio II II II II is getting some miles in these recent vids, I've had it since 2021 and it's just my go to for LOW & heavy.
Literally put the SRC6MS on order a couple of days ago. Supposed to get it mid-late April. So excited.
That 7 string iceman is lush. I've wanted a 7 string iceman for a long time.

It's a cool feeling when unpacking guitars from ibanez 🎸 I have 4 ibanez guitars and 3 unpacking on the channel. every time you see a box in front of you, unpacking and looking inside, you experience a magical feeling. when you connect a new instrument, you fly away from space. Right now, while I was watching the video, I was rehearsing on my 8-string RG 8. thanks for the video, I hope this is not the last ibanez on your channel and on mine

Yeah for sure! I just haven’t had one before that has bass pickups before - the squier one has three passive single coils. Cool instrument just very different than anything I’ve had before!
Next a 7 string version would be awesome.

Basically its a fanned fret Bass VI like what fender make that the Cure, Deftones and Placebo have used a lot, i play a Fender bass VI a lot and the high pass helps thin out the tone for guitar chords.
I bought the xiphos 7 string Iron Label and I've gotta say both are amazing guitars to pick up.
Making me want the SRC6, and that ICEman was pure FIRE with the VI IT cab & II II II II😎
Love the reviews. Please play the upper register a bit so I can hear the span of tones. Only playing the bottom half of the guitar is great for songs but if I’m gonna buy a guitar I want to know it can sound good with leads too. Great video
I acquired the Iron Label Xiphos 7 a few years back. The Iceman 7 is definitely one of my next guitars
On the SRC6ms, put it in passive mode and the treble control becomes a tone knob. Crank the tone in passive mode for the best “guitar” sounds. Trust me :)

Similarly i wanted to use the original SRC6 as a Baritone guitar and found i ended up preferring guitar pickups at least in the bridge for the chugs. Of course the original SRC6 had standard soapbar pickups so it was easy to do a drop in replacement for a 7 string soapbar sized pickup. Left a Bass pickup in the neck so I can still get the bass type sounds you got in this quick demo as well. The SRC6MS probably due to the multi scale is using a less standard size bass pick up so direct replacement probably won't be as easy. When i looked into it i think an 8 string humbucker was closest in size but still not a direct drop in. Curious to see what you end up doing with the SRC6MS
The src6 is freaking awesome! I have the discontinued non mti scale model. Think of it as a baritone and bass vi. Get it! Run stringjoy baritone 58s in G1 turn the bass eq down a little bit and you're set. Such an awesome instrument.

Alluvial are in a league of their own as far as im concerned, chefs kiss for modern deathmetal music. That new Carcosa tune is a belter too, I'd love to break my neck to that live

I ALMOST got the SRC6MS. I liked the way it sounded, the way it looked....but the Harley Benton JA Baritone won in the end. It was such a good deal at ~$160 bucks (shipped, B-Stock)...like, I couldn't make any other choice lol. I love the guitar and have no regrets. I'll still be buying the SRC6MS at some point though (unless HB gets me again with the GuitarBass) as a guitar that's also a bass sounds like a great idea
Just throw some guitar strings on that „bass“ and maybe put some emgs or fishmans in there. Might get you a lot closer to good sounding powerchords!!

Really intrigued by the Iceman, but standard scale length on a 7 string bugs me. Should be 27 at least.
Standard 6 string iceman’s are also 24.75” so the shorter scale length thing is just what Ibanez goes for with this model 🤷♂️ 25.5 is fine up to like G at least, I like longer too but it’s not the end of the world

hey, just wondered if you had ever thought about getting an ibanez uv70p? Its got the green and black colour scheme that you like, 7 string and its a classic. It think it might be my next guitar purchase after i try one out. Its the sound of Morbid Angel and early Korn, two of my favourite bands.
I want one, but if I do I want to get the proper 1992 one as a birth year guitar 😩

the src6ms is just the beginning. tunings are still going down so I think we may see guitars with longer scales than 30 very soon. Unless someone finds a way to digitally detune guitats without latency and less artifacts than we have atm.

Thanks Andrew! I feel like Ibanez is missing the mark recently, as it relates to Metal. Almost no Fishman and Evertune equipped guitars. It might be on purpose, if they just don't want to compete with Solar/LTD, but in doing that I look at their catalog and nothing interests me at all! This Iceman for example - with Fisman and a more interesting finish, would be killer. But not with random DiMarzios and a lazy black finish (do they even understand metal players in 2024?). Oh, and I bought Tim Henson's guitar for the amazing pickups but it came with QC issues. I was so disappointed.
They definitely need more models with evertune... However i picked up the Silver rg with fishmans and an evertune and its one of the nicest guitars i have played. I really hope they do more.
I'd like just black Xiphos with Evertune and FIshmans not freaking Floyd always. Though I'll eventually wait for Solar model I guess.

The otto amp hasn't impressed with guitars, too fizzy and muddy. But with that bass it was more suited.
I've never owned an Iceman.. meanwhile the meshuggah guitar sits quietly on the wall lol

I have the Squire Bass VI, which is a single coil similar to the bass 6 that Ibanez has. It's a really unique sound and sending it through the otto II II II, its killer for the drop C1 and below tunings

holy shit, that iceman 7 string sounds FUCKING SICK! holy fuck that 6 string bass sounds fucking insane with guitar tone too though. Seems like you got two really great guitars here. PROST. The bass tone is killer, but it almost sounds better as a guitar. just my ears.
Oof, that 6-string bass looks great. I never super cared for the feel of a Fender VI, and I could stick Nordy Big Singles into this one for fat CLEAN tones! 😀

Correction there is no tone knob that is a pickup blend knob. There is no pickup selector and this is how you achieve selecting one pup or another

@@BaenaCarcosa can’t wait to see what you achieve. I have had mine for about 9 months and I decided to just remove the bass pickups and put in a Fishman Steph 7 set. I could get close but never quite where I wanted the pickups to be sound wise. I took it to my local shop and he basically said he really was against modding it and offered me his Squier Jazzmaster Baritone husk and would install them in that… I took that offer but kinda bummed cuz I really wanted the fanned frets
