Emily Lipsitz they stay in the pasture. It’s the most natural environment for a horse to live in. I do t like to stall my horses unless its absolutely necessary.

Good video for people who don't actually rope! Years ago I bought a professionally trained horse. I was a rank beginner so on one of my first trail rides, I stopped and tied my horse. But I didn't know how to tie a horse and had a long rope between the tie and the horse When I turned to look at my horse, she had both front feet wrapped in the rope but she stood quietly and let me untangle her. Lesson learned and I was very fortunate my horse had been taught to hobble!

Never seen this before but, how you explain it, makes total sense. Horses are such spooky animals and anything that helps them be calmer in scary situations or more helpful during their care routine has to be a good thing. I don't have a horse but love watching them as they are such beautiful creatures, so thanks for sharing your life with them. 😀

Have you had people call you crazy for doing this? I have. I never completely hobble trained but do the rope around feet for same reasons! I'm so glad I am not alone in doing this!

Lynne Rocco a lot of people really don’t understand how important this sort of stuff is for a horses future. There are a lot of “broke” horses that I wouldn’t want to be on if they got tangled up in a wire, tree branch, etc. I like to get my horses good with that stuff from the beginning. Mine are all hobble trained too.

Exactly. My QH got caught up in a panel (he could have gotten himself out of) but instead he stood there perfectly still for who knows how long before I got out there to get him out of it. No panic, no freaking out, no cuts or bruises BECAUSE I did this to him when breaking and training him. I follow a few of the younger girls on here that do the wild mustang makeovers and I've only seen two doing this. It's vitally important as we horse peoples know when it comes to horses anything can happen and usually will. I love your videos. Thank you for sharing your journey with horsemanship, from comments I've read you are really helping a lot of people out there with your videos.
