    After years of being natural, I am seeing that my hair is easier to manage and care for when it is straight. I don't flat iron. I wear a roller-set, which actually does an amazing job of straightening my hair. Once my hair is dry, I hit the roots with a straightening brush (heat not as high as flat iron) and move on. I can keep this style for a long period of time, but work to wash and condition hair weekly or bi-weekly depending on schedule and give my hair a light protein treatment once a month. It just feels so much better than wearing a wash and go and twist outs.

      It is waaayyy easier to manage. I have blow dried and put the curling rods in my hair and I like the way that looks as well.
      Do you ever flat iron at all?? I couldn’t imagine never doing it, but definitely understand not wanting to do it often because of the damage.

    The flexi rod look is great. I've never tried it before, so now I plan to. I've been a straight natural all my life. I wash my hair twice a month, low blow dry, 370 flat iron. Fantasia heat protector straightening serum works great. I tried the wash and braids/twists, but I got so many fairy knots that I had to leave those styles alone. My hair is healthy and past bra strap length as a straight natural.

    I feel the same way, sometimes I feel guilty for wanted to do more straight styles, like I’m turning on accepting my blackness but I only want to see my length more, and besides in a way we are honoring ourselves because we are showing how versatile our hair can be. Also, so interesting that they gave you betamethazone. I am an OB nurse and we inject that in moms who give birth before 37 weeks to help baby’s lungs mature faster

    I just came across your channel today. I have the tymo blow dryer, tymo brush and their airflow flat iron but I’m just scared to straighten my natural hair. Been natural for six years plus

    • @Ty_Monia
      @Ty_Monia  7 дней назад +1

      Ohh you like the tymo line I see. I used to be scared too, but I feel like we have to be able to enjoy different styles as naturals. I use 2 different heat protectants when styling and do protein treatments and leave the rest to God. Lol 😜

    Hello! Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!!! My favorite hairstyle was the one you initially showed after taking down the 2 braids. I am new to being a straight haired natural. It lasts 2 to 3 wks if I do it and 4 wks if my Stylist does it. What heat protectant did you use prior to flat ironing? I saw the heat protectants used before the blow dry. Do you use Miche foam for edges with every press? I'm so surprised it didn't revert. I say do what works best for you. Summer can be challenging. How do you handle that? Thanks

    • @Ty_Monia
      @Ty_Monia  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you!! 🥰You like the braid out best? I think I would have loved it if I actually styled it but I was set on straightening it. 🥴
      Before I flat iron I used the ORS Thermalast 2 n 1 Heat Defense & Shine Mist. They have a serum as well but it’s too think for me.

    • @Ty_Monia
      @Ty_Monia  7 месяцев назад

      I use Miche or any foam to just lay my edges down…I do that first or while blow drying. I don’t really use after I straighten unless my hair is very old and I put it up in a ponytail.
      As far as summer - as long as my ends are trimmed and my hair is moisturized I don’t get frizz. If it’s raining or has rained that day my hair will be in a bun or tied up because the humidity will be too much.

    I love your hair Its so beautiful! The flexi rod curls were bomb af I definitely feel like heat helps my hair. I like using a blow dryer to set my styles, deep condition and of course before straightening. I use to be able to keep it straight for 2-3 weeks but now I can only go a week before it's in a ponytail or bun. I just tried to color wow dream coat extra strength and that definitely helped cause I sweat alot.

    • @Ty_Monia

    Your hair is beautiful ❤. Do you use products on your hair while it’s straight. What did you spray on your hair when you were putting in the flexi rods for Day 8?

    • @Ty_Monia
      @Ty_Monia  7 дней назад +1

      I try not to use anything but a light mist or serum.
      The spray was Tresemme hair spray to hold it a little. It didn’t make my hair revert.

    How do you work out when your hair is straight? I sweat easily and hate it

  • @Sunsun-ev2xd
    @Sunsun-ev2xd 4 месяца назад +2

    Three questions what are those things called that you use to wand or curl your hair up? How do you apply it on your hair properly and do you use any product with it? It looks so good.

    • @Ty_Monia
      @Ty_Monia  4 месяца назад +2

      Flexi rods.
      I use any firm hold foam but I like to do that on blown out hair to keep some length.
      To apply, I do medium sections and I like to curl away from my face. I put a rod close to my scalp and the tip of the rod is about an inch from my root and I put the foam on my hair and just twist the hair down the rod. At the end, I put more foam and wrap my end piece firmly around the rod so it will make a nice curl. Then I fold the rod over where the end of my hair stops to keep it in place.
      Hope all of that helps!!

    Can I ask what do you use to keep your edges sleek? My hair gets really straight but the edges get curly fast and ruins the whole look for me. All the edge controls have water and really make my edges all curly.

    • @Ty_Monia
      @Ty_Monia  7 месяцев назад +3

      I struggle with this as well. Which is why I put the foam on my edges before I straighten my hair. If it reverts, I put foam (sometimes foam and a little Murray’s Pomade) and a scarf on my edges to lay them back down and sometimes I will go over my edges with a flat iron because I don’t mind if they get “heat trained”. I know some girlies like gots to be because they say it doesn’t revert, but I’ve never tried it.
