This was very interesting Paul, thank you, I've not explored this at all as have yet to move to IEMs... I may well do so soon!

My guitar tones sound incredible now I have stereo through the IEMs. The Kemper was always more of a "well, I can hear it" solution, but the added control and stereo solution with the FM3 puts it in a totally different league. Gigs are so much more enjoyable with a great IEM sound.

we're using a Behringer XR18 with a Splitter setup for our band (guitar/bass + vocals go to the splitter first before FOH ) we get a stereo feed back from FOH for the drum mix
we can use apps to control our own separate stereo IEM mixes which is very cool , we just upgraded from mono to stereo IEMs this year , huuuge difference

I also have a feed from a Behringer XR18, although I only received a mono feed. Stereo does make so much difference in headphones and will make gigging much more enjoyable. Using the FM3's onscreen mixer is similar to using an app, although I am finding it much easier with physical knobs to turn. So glad I moved to the FM3!

@@PaulHillGuitarist yeah the xr18 only has 6 aux outputs, this can be extended somewhat thanks to the intranet connection, so our drummer has a headphone mixer attached there for a stereo mix, leaving 3 stereo mixes for our IEMs
      glad you're enjoying the FM3, it's a brilliant device

@@paulbradshawguitar The FM3 certainly is awesome. I just need a month off work to explore it. 😀

So much to learn with the FM3, although this IEM solution seems to be the way to go for me.

Nice Video! Yes I'm also playing and using stereo mix for years now. But I'm getting result differently. I'm using OUT 1 (left signal) and OUT 2 (right signal) But to get true stereo I'm using on OUT 2 simple DELAY on 100% (11ms) super short. Now the second signal comes out of fractal (out2) 11ms later and you get your true stereo. Also now in the inear monitors you can hear signal not in center but you can now beautiful Pan.

With this set up, what outputs are you sending to front of house?

This is interesting. What In-ears are you using? I'm assuming they plug into the other end of the P2?

I am using Shure 425 headphones and they work well. I recently changed the headphone buds for a bigger size and this has helped massively with the sound. I keep looking at moulded options, but the Shures are working well for me. And yes, simply plug them into the P2 and thread the cable up the back of my shirt.

About tone (so sound engineers don't mess up in your ears).
I'm just selecting in digital mixer on guitar channels - PRE EQ. So sound guy can do what he wants and it doesn't mess up my fractal signal in my inear monitors in my mix. That's an option on almost every digital mixer x32, AllanHeat etc... nowadays

    • @PaulHillGuitarist

That works, although using the FM3 to have my own sound direct and mixing in the feed from the desk (minus guitar) is working well for me. I often have a mono feed from the desk, so I can still have my guitar tone in stereo. It works especially well if there is a rush in and out type of gig with no time for sound check.

in your setup you don't have the output 2 as a copy of output 1 right?

    • @PaulHillGuitarist
      @PaulHillGuitarist  15 дней назад

I do, although when there is an output 2 block on the grid, I don't think this setting works.

Great stuff! Could you please explain how to make a simple mono patch with 1 guitar and 1 mono aux return? Connections, blocks, etc.

@@DarioRondini Add a mixer block to a new row (I used row 4), making sure it is to the right of the last block in your signal chain. Take a feed from the last block in your signal chain and feed it into the mixer block. Add an input 2 block before the mixer block and an output 2 block after the mixer block. The four volume and balance controls in the mixer block now control the volume and balance of rows 1 to 4. So long as your input 2 is set to "left only", you can feed a signal from a separate source into the mixer block via the input 2 jack socket.
