The editing in your videos is spectacular! Even when I show these to non-drummers they are engaged in your content. Big props to you and the work you put into this channel. 👏
Anybody else appreciate David’s edits to his music?! Is there a band camp with the recording with all of the cutting drilling SFX ?! So cool so musical!! So much hard work put into your videos!! Thank you!!!
Great video. I always like the organization projects, and garage/build focused ones are good too. Your editing makes the builds pretty entertaining, more so than some full time RUclips maker type peoples.
I like that you built a prototype before making the full thing (0:50). This is called a proof-of-concept and is super important with ideas. Love what you make!
Hey Dave! Love the videos! So, I've been living in a townhouse for a couple of years now, and a friend and I decided to build a classic tennis ball riser. I figured that MDF would do the trick, because it has density, but my friend is worried that it won't be strong enough to support the weight of a set, fearing that I might snap a corner off when I step on it, suggesting plywood. So I have two questions for the master woodcraft drummer, what's the best material to use, and do you have any soundproofing tips, anything you learned from your videos on it? (I'm on a TIGHT budget!) Thanks for the drumming inspiration!
I would go with plywood. MDF is easy to work with, but isnt super strong if it isnt supported properly. If you want a crazy strong riser look up how to make a "torsion box" and itll be bomb proof!
The cymbal storage solution that you came up with is great! I would put something on the bottom of the shelves so that the cymbals aren't sitting on the hardwood. Something like a drawer liner or something.
Dude I absolutely love how you sync your tools with your music it sounds amazing and ima try building stuff like this when I get enough cymbals and stuff.
Very nice work. You might consider a divider or horizontal shelf for the top left section where you put the splashes. You could put smaller splashes, cowbells or other smaller items there.
VERY NICE STORAGE SHELF DAVID LOVE YOUR WORK YOU INSPIRED ME TO MAKE MY OWN PANCAKE GONG BASS IT TURN OUT GREAT SOUNDS AWESOME THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS KEEP IT UP MAN AND MORE VIDEOS WHIT STEPHEN
I made a single shelf for my spare cymbals, but they're hanging from their holes with a metal rod wrapped in foam packaging. I bet the shelves you made will look much better if you'll do the same. :)
Not only you are a kickass drummer, but you would make a great wood shop, and metal shop teacher. In my case I don’t own as many drums and cymbals as you do, but I do need a second bag to fit what I have.
Nice work, looking to do the same. Wish you would have mentioned dimensions that you used. 24”x24” ? Or did you go shallower so you could grab them out. ? Anyway nice
My high school’s percussion room had similar shelving for storing cymbals. The cracked, rusted cymbals were in a section labeled “4ever alone”. Anyway - one difference is that my high school’s shelving had some short carpeting on the insides so the edges of the cymbals wouldn’t make contact with the wood. I don’t think it makes too big of a difference as long as you’re not throwing your cymbals into the shelf and pulling them out carelessly - but I’m sure if you decide to go the carpeting route, could do something more aesthetically pleasing with felt or velvet.
Great video. On a slightly related matter and given your history of very cool modifications. I have a Hardcase 6 cymbal case with a bright yellow threaded knob which holds the cymbals in place when closed. I like the case but my one gripe is the fact that when removed it's easy to lose. Would you have a suggestion about how to allow it to be screwed in place whilst being able to anchor to the outer case body via a spindle or simple threaded lanyard so when removing it it stays on the body of the case? Does that make sense? Anyway any help you or your subscribers can give would be great. Thanks!
Take a piece of your edging strip and cut notches to hold the vertical separators in position and discretely screw it to the shelf above from underneath. That will finish it off nice, I reckon.
This is great! I like the whole idea, in my case I have three different cymbal sets; zildjians, then sabian hhx evolution and also paragon, the paragon comes with its road case but the others they turn yellow inside the plastic SKG cymbal cases, I guess if they are more in contact with room temperature they would not tarnish so much over time? As far as drums i only own 2 and all drums cases as well as 2 hardware case for DW racks and stands and 1 big wheeled bag for Gibraltar hardware for my Gretsch, the idea of a drum closet sounds really nice and it would be possible for me to store the drums and hardware in the closet of my office if I would do this but i think inside the cases they are even more protected, i live in a desert area so humidity here is low. I like watching the video from a drummer-carpenter because I too have both skills, both lack the shop space you have and room for the drums and not so many drums; cheers!
How do you store your cymbals?
In a pile
I dont have enough to store them...
I have only 5 and those stay on my kit
2 full cymbal bags :)
Oh...You can make review on all of your cymbals... i think that would be very nice video.
Lol pretty cool to see I’m not the only person that doesn’t have enough cymbals to store 😂
I’m at your house again David. I’m pretty sure you can hear me knocking. It’s just super cold out here...
At least you knocked this time instead of just busting in like last time...
David is like.. oh, snap, it's THAT guy again. Turns his lights off, yells GO AWAY STEEPHEEN, I DON'T WANNA DRILL STUFF WITH YOU ANYMOREEE.
Bruh lol hahahaaa
Yes another colab I love them
😂 gotta call first.
gonna need a "mega-kit video" now where you set up ALL of your drums and cymbals into one giant mega-kit. looking forward to it :)
holy shit yes please
rTERRYBOZZIOr
@@benjamin.kelley I was about to comment something about Terry Bozzio and you beat me to it lol
I don't think he has enough hardware for that
Neil Peart style.
Love how you've incorporated the sound of your tools and such into the music!
They way you edit these videos with the music is so awesome and I love your videos for that! Your studio is like a drummer’s Palace!!
I mean if you dont want so many cymbals...
Im poor af
saaammmmeee....
Same, dibs on any Zildjians he doesn't want
These organizational/upkeep videos are probably my favorites, and man I'm always a sucker for editing to the music. Great videos, my dude.

I don’t know if I’m more impressed with the woodworking, or the video editing. Solid my man.
I can't tell you enough, how inspiring is what you do (both videos and building). Thanks for the work!
put some foam padding in top and bottom
that's what I said! +
Anybody else appreciate David’s edits to his music?! Is there a band camp with the recording with all of the cutting drilling SFX ?! So cool so musical!! So much hard work put into your videos!! Thank you!!!
Make a cajon please
Great video.

The way you sync the nailing up with the beat is very very satisfying
I love it!. There's a simple elegance to your work... or maybe it's the background music 😁...Either way, it all works, and motivates. Thanks
Man oh man, I swear, the most satisfying thing about David's videos is the sounds of power tools syncing up with the background music.
Your rhythmically timed edits always crack me up. Love it.
Most satisfying diy ever with the building sounds, in time with the music! It's so coool
it’s amazing how the background music lines up perfectly with most of the sped up working noises. intentional or not it’s incredible!
Love the nail gun on the snare hits and just in time in general 🐱
Always happy after watching your videos. Can’t wait for the videos for 2019 :)
i love that you edit your builds so that the hammer, nail gun, and saw match the beat
David you are the best drummer youtuber in the world 👍👍 keep up the good work!!
I like that you built a prototype before making the full thing (0:50). This is called a proof-of-concept and is super important with ideas. Love what you make!
This is great! For years I’ve been trying to figure out how to organize my stuff. You’ve given me some good ideas. Thank you.

6:03 who remembers this
Whoever does is part of the og club
Hell yeah😂
I remember that one! That’s the one that he spray painted the K logo on!
These videos are just super relaxing to watch. You my dude are pure gold
really appreciated how the editing and music coincided so nicely! Love the effort you put into your vids.
5:17 synced up so nicely with the beat, i was extremely satisfied
I'm just at the point where I now need some organization, and 1 or 2 guitar stands will be my solution. Thanks for that extra little piece at the end!
Good to see a video from you in the new year man!
Nice synk with the nailgun in the montage! And everything explained at the end! Thanx Dave!
I’m always happy when a new vid comes out
Dude I absolutely love how you sync your tools with your music it sounds amazing and ima try building stuff like this when I get enough cymbals and stuff.
All those amazing cymbals in one place - WOW
Always looking forward to see your videos👍
So jealous of the sheer amount of cymbals! WoW
Your a true craftsman be awesome to see you build a kit from scratch
Very nicely done bro and we’ll executed! Also, very great editing on the video. Love your channel, drum on David!
Appreciate your attention to detail and loved the production of your video
I love these kinds of videos especially...love the editing and the concept...you deserve way more subs dude
Thanks for sharing these crazy yet unbelievably useful ideas David! Definitely trying this one out at home!
BTW, you should totally do a review of your cymbal collection. I see you got those Meinl dark classics...
The cutting to the tempo was impressive 🤝🏾
You are a smart cookie for sure. Video like always improving every time. Good job.
Very nice work. You might consider a divider or horizontal shelf for the top left section where you put the splashes. You could put smaller splashes, cowbells or other smaller items there.
yup I was thinking about that once I saw it with them in there. ill do it one day... maybe
VERY NICE STORAGE SHELF DAVID LOVE YOUR WORK YOU INSPIRED ME TO MAKE MY OWN PANCAKE GONG BASS IT TURN OUT GREAT SOUNDS AWESOME THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS KEEP IT UP MAN AND MORE VIDEOS WHIT STEPHEN
Dude love your idea my man!!! Thanks for the shoutout and see you soon :)
And heres david back at it again with the video edited perfectly to the music here and there
That space! Man that's inspiring!
I made a single shelf for my spare cymbals, but they're hanging from their holes with a metal rod wrapped in foam packaging. I bet the shelves you made will look much better if you'll do the same. :)
I rewatch this video once in a while just for the god tier editing around the fifth minute
Drumming meets carpentry, I love it!
I love how you've made the montage sounds fit with the music haha
That's some creative editing there, love it
Not only you are a kickass drummer, but you would make a great wood shop, and metal shop teacher. In my case I don’t own as many drums and cymbals as you do, but I do need a second bag to fit what I have.
Beautiful storage room!
This is something I am going to do.Well done.
Not gonna lie I’m jealous of your workshop and I don’t even do any woodworking really. Love the videos btw much love from New Zealand 🇳🇿❤️
Nice work, looking to do the same. Wish you would have mentioned dimensions that you used. 24”x24” ? Or did you go shallower so you could grab them out. ? Anyway nice
Nice work man. I would recommend putting foam on the spot where all the cymbals are sitting on. Keep rocking
Yay! You got a miter saw! A really big, high-tech miter saw...
That's some sick editing during the build montage.
Congrats on Modern Drummer award. And nice Dewalt saw...
Nice job man,the drum room is complete!
Construction noise based music, epic win!
loving how he matched the hammering to the music
Dude! that's a whole new level of editing Dude!
Already loved the editing with the stapler replacing the snare drum, but 5:13 just cracked me up :D
Thumbs up for Dave's new miter saw.
ayyyye

Dude the editing of making the second part had me dying oml it’s so good
You are an extremely good sound engineer
1:37 i love how the sound syncs with the music hahah
These types of videos just make me want an HGTV for musicians
I'm super jealous of your woodworking skills.
Looks good, dude. Functional and compact. The only thing I'd do is put some soft carpet or fabric covered padding on the bottom.
Great stuff. Love your videos.Keep them coming!
Am I the only one appreciating how he edited his nail gun to stay in rhythm to the beat??? Great vid man, keep it up
Nice work Dave.
I LOVE your musical editing. you should try making a track using only tinkering sounds from your videos !
Love the editing matching with music...hehe
Yes! I've been waiting for this video!
Some nifty edits in the vid. Nicely done.
Omg ducking the music for the nail gun is so gold 😂👌
Great video man! About to make a custom shelf for my closet
Love it.Need to make a PAISTE Storage bin!

You're diy stuff is the best man! Have you considered selling any of your cymbals? Or trades for snares and such?
Take a piece of your edging strip and cut notches to hold the vertical separators in position and discretely screw it to the shelf above from underneath. That will finish it off nice, I reckon.
Nice shelving!
Ever gonna sell that big r Rogers Tom? If so how much? What size is it? 13-9?
This is great! I liked the bass drum beater prybar!
This video = oddly satisfying!
That's cool, I wish I had enough cymbals to fill up something like that, lol
Damn David didn't have to flex on us😂. I'm kidding great vid to help all us cymbal hoarders out there!
Keeping the boom bap alive‼️
