Same. The friends I grew up with were snakes. Now that I'm older and have moved on, I've seen them now and then in my old neighborhood when visiting family. They smile at me, but there is a subtle hatred behind it, and everything they say seems passive-aggressive.

@BimmerBros And how the author was the only reasonable man among the other's that was protecting the female friends. Trying to paint himself as a hero. Classic

You'll have to forgive me for not being on point with my christian terminology, but how is the family protestant catholics? Aren't those damn near opposites?
Not exactly opposites, as both are Christians, but "Protestants" are, technically, any number of different denominations-- Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, etc.
So I would have recorded the mother and played it back to the whole family to expose her. Then, I would have left and never looked back. So that would have created doubt in the other ladies.

The M-I-L in the last story was just evil & manipulative. I'm glad that the victim was strong enough to get out of the relationship in one piece. Others have not been so fortunate. The 2nd story was frightening & cautionary. Thanks!
@@ThePoliticrat Sorry to be late with my response. Regarding Story #3 and @35:49 - What is a “Protestant-Catholic.”? In my experience, a person is either/or, e.g., the term “Protestant” came about because of Martin Luther protesting the Catholic Church. I promise I’m not trying to be divisive; I’m just not clear on how someone can be both Protestant and Catholic.
You're definitely right, someone couldn't be both. I'm sure she meant to say "Protestant Christian", but probably not being religious either isn't aware of the difference, or just misspoke.

Choose your friends wrong and pay a horrendous price!!!
For the first story... OP, if you see this: 1.) Whatever was happening with Stephanie, you need to let her go from your mind and heart, decade-long friendship or no; she was possessive and abusive towards you, and clearly wanted to keep you socially isolated from others. Hell, maybe she was even in love with you, and fled out of panic for revealing her feelings, or even to keep some measure of control by cutting you off before you potentially could to her. Please, consider speaking with a therapist if you can, it may help you more than you know. 2.) PLEASE go to a doctor and get your fingers checked out - Stephanie might have damaged your joints by pressing so hard onto them. If they cannot help you, well... Maybe try finding a witch via those forums that helped before? It's better than nothing, even if you're skeptical of it.
Eh if I don't know about real man on this one cheif if some lays there hand on me unprovoked they better get ready to get it back a lesson my parents let me know about.
The last story got me physically angry. Having a bad mother in law is one thing but to have both actively work against you like that. Sorry. Glad you got away.
My worst nightmare is marrying old (out of desperation probably bc i already am in my late 20s) and that i will find people like in the last story. It's insane that there are still such archaic and humiliating ways to see women and their "role" in this world, like, we are humans too and we're certainly not here just to be servants because of what we have underneath our underwear, such an ignorant and backwards way of thinking
I wouldn’t worry about...I feel like late 20s isn't old to marry. It really should be based on the person you're with and what that relationship is like.
2nd and 3rd are really scary. In the last, that grown ass man was so determined to be taken care of as a baby that he was plotting with his mother to ruin her life 😬
I thought that lady was as crazy as the guy. Maybe I saw things different Maybe I'm older but I see two people who are young and they don't know exactly what they want yet. I've never believed in marriage so I've never done it but I've had a 11-year relationship and two others under 5 years one four and a half another one and a half that I've had a bunch of relationships short-term friends with benefits. Now that I'm in my mid 40s you start looking back but one thing that I've had great ex partners and most of them I'm not one to stay friends so I haven't really heard from him but no one's ever reached out to me no stories of trauma or anything because I try to do my part to be a decent person be there like she said what she was looking for a partner. That being said I don't think she quite knew what that meant at the time some people understand early on I was blessed in that sense not really religious but I like that term then what it represents and I had an idea what I was looking for in the partner I'd figured it out by the time I was 25. I started dating When I was older cuz I was sheltered and but I got out there had some awkward first dates learning how things work but once I lost my virginity at 22 I had some wild years there as I navigated the waters and met wonderful people some worked out some didn't but it gave me a chance to find out what I was looking for. When I was 25 though I had my first rear relationship It was that year and a half one well about a year and two months I think. Kind of knew what was going to end but it went on longer than I thought because we both loved each other. It was older she was 38 I was 25 but there was a real connection there and she was the first woman who treated me as an equal gave me such respect all the women before were childish like me You were grown-ups but childlike growing ups. I owe her so much for let me know how a real relationship works. That your partners that you respect each other that you don't tear each other down and fight over silly things. From then on I was always Frank with what I was looking for some girls really like that some girls thought I was being demanding but that's how I knew they weren't meant for me and that was okay We might like someone we think Lost after him but as you get to know him even just a little bit you realize this isn't a person for me We have different values in life that are going to come to a head.
@rileighdabbs1950 So there's different variations but the main things needs is something from both party like in the story the napkin , her "friend" lipstick, and whoevers hair, some incense for spiritual cleansing, protection, shadow work ie she probably used a incense mixture so no physically/ spiritual harm comes to her "friend" but causes spiritual turmoil in the guy and spells tend to varies on what exactly you want to happen...Like spells for separation, new found hatred, one sided obsession etc

Ooooh these stories were Good Ones!! Way better than the boring crap on TV these days for sure! Thanks Joel! And to the woman in the last story, I'm sorry you had to go through such a horrible experience but good for you for being strong, standing your ground & leaving that nighmare behind! How many times people end up staying in similar situations, trapping themselves bc they're scared to leave, feel like they have no options or choices & worse, end up adding children to an already toxic situation which never ends well for anyone. No one should ever have to endure that! You doged a bullet for sure & came out stronger for it ❤
How disappointing to waste years on a man that wants to marry his mother, but betrays you into thinking he wants an equal in marriage. Thank goodness she didn't get pregnant and could cut them completely out of her life.
36:20 sorry, darling, but you have to set ground rules BEFORE you get married lest you end up with a divorce or annulment. It's also a good idea to live with your partner before you get married because you don't know whether or not you'll get along once you live together.

I'm happy that op found someone even better in the last story, but that horrible man and his insane mother are terrible people. It's scary that a friend would do something so cruel and creepy in the first story. In the 2nd story op your response on the trip was good. It's unfortunate that happened though. It sounds like that so called friend is stating a cult.

Thwre is no suxh thing as a "good witch, or wizard. If they get their power frok demons then beware. Im sorry your BFF ditched you, but you are better off
The fact that the men in the second story so willingly followed an "alpha male" type and attacked their female friends with just one simple command shows what kind of people they truly were. The comment made earlier by one of them "its nice to see a guy in our group actually protect the girls"(or something like that) immediately made me feel uncomfortable. That statement felt wrong, and with what happened at the waterfall its clear non of the men in the group actually cared about their female friends. Except OP of course.
The first story was weird but at the same time she wasn't a great friend either. The second story, Jesus that guy was such a cult leader. He twisted a whole group of men to do things that was clearly not okay. He did stuff for them just for leverage. Like he's a mafia boss.
So the last story sounds like a marriage that happened too soon. In no way am I saying she was at fault, but not discussing children and a plan before marriage? Also, I know people can change, especially after they become too comfortable, but there is a lot of naivety on her part.
Lowkey sounds like Stephanie had romantic feelings for OP. She went out with a bunch of "guys" that OP never saw, claimed that college was for experimenting, and said, "you're mine". Sounds like some overbearing lesbian crap.
While all of these stories are wild, I have to say about the 2nd story, it made me think that Francis thought he was God or Jesus with the way everyone was talking about how great he was. It also sounded like the start of a cult. He is one manipulative AH and I hope all the jerks in each story get what's finally owed to them. The wife in the last story, her husband was just as manipulative and AHish as his mother. I pity any woman who gets into a relationship with a man like that. Her husband also sounded like a Mama's boy, should have told him to go marry his mommy if he wants someone like his mother to take care of him. It's creepy and gross.
Who wrote a story about my mother and brother? My mother is just as evil as Lucinda and the husband is my brother. Its a sick and fucking gross relationship

Same. The friends I grew up with were snakes. Now that I'm older and have moved on, I've seen them now and then in my old neighborhood when visiting family. They smile at me, but there is a subtle hatred behind it, and everything they say seems passive-aggressive.
If I was the woman from the last story the second unannounced visit from the in-laws would have been more than enough for me to put my foot down and tell them to back off.
Ditto!!!
No friends are better than bad friends.
It is better to be alone than with untrue friends.
Exactly why I have zero friends 😂
Lucinda your days are numbered!!!
Right in time for bedtime! Gnight everyone
Yup. I'm GN
Good night from California!
Goodnight from Louisiana!
It almost feels like an insult to him sometimes. I don’t make it through them all before drifting off, but I’m grateful for it, nonetheless.
Thanks, Joel. It helps so much. You have a lovely storytelling voice.
It reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad would read me to sleep. It was the best sleep ever.
Goodnight from Tennessee!
The Frances story sounds like a low-budget horror movie. In fact, i think I may have watched it somewhere on Amazon Prime...
double feature: Carlene Russell & Frances go camping. Wait, Amazon Prime is the new Lifetime Movie! damn
Exactly my thoughts the most unbelievable part of that story was that they had a close friend group of girls and boys. Get out of here with that fiction 😂
@BimmerBros And how the author was the only reasonable man among the other's that was protecting the female friends. Trying to paint himself as a hero. Classic
My best friend of 4 years just stole from me, and left me. These stories let me know it could've been worse 💀
Same
@@desertparadise8220 You deserve better, go out there and make a friend that is willing to match your loyalty. 🫡
Story 1: girl you need a spiritual cleanse lol
She a high ranking demon that won't do shiet
No, she needs to make up a better story if she's going to lie 😊
The last story felt like I was the writer...my 1st marriage was creepily similar...and they too found a younger, more gulible/"trainable" doll. Sad....
The only thing worse than the betrayal of a friend is the betrayal of a spouse or family member.
You'll have to forgive me for not being on point with my christian terminology, but how is the family protestant catholics? Aren't those damn near opposites?
Not exactly opposites, as both are Christians, but "Protestants" are, technically, any number of different denominations--
Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, etc.
Some Anglican thunk they're catholic
So I would have recorded the mother and played it back to the whole family to expose her. Then, I would have left and never looked back. So that would have created doubt in the other ladies.
Doubt it. The family knew Lucinda longer than OP. Who are you willing to believe? Someone you know for years or someone who’s just new to the family? Also who’s to say if the family didn’t also have the same values as Lucinda and Eric?
joel never disappoints.
I can literally listen to him for hours and hours. My god what a voice. Doesn't happen with any other narrator (and I follow hundreds 😂)
Aaand the stories he picks are THE BEST!!!
That intro of Saturns rings being skulls was pretty beautiful
The last story is SO insane.... I'm really glad she got out of that situation. His final words are very telling of his character. Spoken like a true abuser.
That last story resonated with me. Now I never have to associate with my greedy, grasping former in-laws. What a feeling of bliss! Thanks for entertaining stories 😂😊
Everyone has a right to live their lives as they see fit. She has a right to be a career lady and they have a right to seek a woman who wants to be a housewife. Expecting someone to be something they do not want to be is the main issue which is lack of communication.
The case with Stephanie, nothing lost in a so-called friendship! Ask the boyfriend!
Nothing indeed! I too had a someone two decades ago I thought was a friend or at the very least a buddy (in a chatroom, not IRL thankfully). Turned out to be a black magic witch, a full blown servant of satan and a fake friend of the worst sort. So glad to get rid of her.
The M-I-L in the last story was just evil & manipulative. I'm glad that the victim was strong enough to get out of the relationship in one piece. Others have not been so fortunate. The 2nd story was frightening & cautionary. Thanks!
How was she manipulative? The narrator seemed like a piece of work
@@ThePoliticrat Sorry to be late with my response. I believe that the M-I-L's calling the graduate schools the wife had applied to & sowing lies so the wife couldn't finish her schooling & calling her boss & telling tales was quite manipulative. The first red flag was when it decided that Sunday dinners would be at the newlywed's house without bothering to consult the wife.
Regarding Story #3 and @35:49 - What is a “Protestant-Catholic.”? In my experience, a person is either/or, e.g., the term “Protestant” came about because of Martin Luther protesting the Catholic Church.
I promise I’m not trying to be divisive; I’m just not clear on how someone can be both Protestant and Catholic.
thought the same thing ! perhaps one side of the family is catholic and the other side Protestant ?
You're definitely right, someone couldn't be both. I'm sure she meant to say "Protestant Christian", but probably not being religious either isn't aware of the difference, or just misspoke.
@salemsrevenge I suppose that is a possibility, I hadn't considered that.
Protestants are also called Lutherans. They started in the early 1500s. They are almost the same. Both are part of the Christian faith.
I think some Anglicans think they're catholic
Fake friends??? FINALLY! I was wondering for many years why have I not seen RUclips stories of untrue friends until today. I mean I would probably have an erratic Siberian Tiger as a pet than a more terrifying monster called fake friend. Fake friends have made some of the worst horror stories of my life! Choose your friends wrong and pay a horrendous price!!!
For the first story... OP, if you see this:
1.) Whatever was happening with Stephanie, you need to let her go from your mind and heart, decade-long friendship or no; she was possessive and abusive towards you, and clearly wanted to keep you socially isolated from others.
Logical payback? Never! a real MAN would NEVER EVER slap or strike a woman in any way
Eh if I don't know about real man on this one cheif if some lays there hand on me unprovoked they better get ready to get it back a lesson my parents let me know about.
@@extoyshred2957 sad for you
Bruh these stories each were crazy. The second one, omg I feel bad for the women and the man. But the third one had me fuming w rage at the MIL
The last story got me physically angry. Having a bad mother in law is one thing but to have both actively work against you like that. Sorry. Glad you got away.
Same, it made me so angry
That Francis story is wild!
Sometimes things like that happen despite the fact nobody expects it.
Betrayal hurts
My worst nightmare is marrying old (out of desperation probably bc i already am in my late 20s) and that i will find people like in the last story. It's insane that there are still such archaic and humiliating ways to see women and their "role" in this world, like, we are humans too and we're certainly not here just to be servants because of what we have underneath our underwear, such an ignorant and backwards way of thinking
With a chip on your shoulder that big, you should file for disability.
With a hairline like that, you should be in line right behind her
Big yikes.
Well...... You may be in for some disappointment 😊😢
I wouldn’t worry about...I feel like late 20s isn't old to marry. It really should be based on the person you're with and what that relationship is like.
as the old adage goes, who needs enemies when you have friends like these
Team not married and no inlaws.. that lady was crazy!!
Team cat lady
@@90000cgbetter to be a cat lady than a slave.
Where are Francis' OTHER friends? Someone takes over your "friend group" and doesn't have any friends of his own? No red flags there
you're overthinking a story that is clearly fictional....
@@th-sd6ni that's what I do 👍
2nd and 3rd are really scary. In the last, that grown ass man was so determined to be taken care of as a baby that he was plotting with his mother to ruin her life 😬
Francis gave serious "Lord of the Flies" vibes
"Friends" are just a knife that hasn't gone in your back yet.
the last story is so sad🙁 i hope shes doing okay now
They're probably just made up...though stuff like this happens, I guess
I find it funny she became happy after doing what she refuse to do. “Lucinda” was out of line tho.
Its more common than you think@@JohnJKelly-of4dc
@@minnesota_fats7344what are you trying to say with all of that?
That last story , you are about to roll over your grave soon acting this way nobody likes an evil grandma 😂 I am glad she left that crazy family
You make the hospital bed much cozier thank you ❤
Wishing you a full recovery
Get well, homie!!
A pior parte da traição é que nunca vem de um inimigo.
Boa noite a todos e mais um ótimo trabalho Joel.

The first story really hit differently especially as an islander who knows how bad that spell could’ve been if she didn’t find that box
White American girl who had a voodoo obsession in 2009 relating to The Princess & Frog here: What kind of spell was that?
@rileighdabbs1950 So there's different variations but the main things needs is something from both party like in the story the napkin , her "friend" lipstick, and whoevers hair, some incense for spiritual cleansing, protection, shadow work ie she probably used a incense mixture so no physically/ spiritual harm comes to her "friend" but causes spiritual turmoil in the guy and spells tend to varies on what exactly you want to happen...Like spells for separation, new found hatred, one sided obsession etc
@@katrinasaint-joy7483And what's with not looking in the eye directly? That was weird
Im not an islander i do practice not bad stuff i know better ya that box was a no no
Something bad would've happened, like nothing
I love Let's Read because I can work the cash register and at home I can cook or fall asleep! I don't have to look at the screen at all! When I have to drive down to Florida by myself, this is my first and only choice!
What is a protestant catholic?
S3: one of my scumabg exes actually said I'd 'never find another guy like him' and I said, 'THATS A F*CKING RELIEF!'
You doged a bullet for sure & came out stronger for it ❤
Story 2: don't let Andrew Tate into your circle
I’m so glad that my boyfriend doesn’t have a mom. Crass, but I swore I would never marry into the kind of family in story 3. Disgusting.
I wish my mother in law was still alive though, I miss her so much and my bride would be so much more healthy with her alive...
How disappointing to waste years on a man that wants to marry his mother, but betrays you into thinking he wants an equal in marriage.
Thank goodness she didn't get pregnant and could cut them completely out of her life.
That 3rd story… classic battle axe.
Anyone else totally get “Jennifer’s Body” vibes off that first story? 😅
That intro is always my favorite 🪐💀
The last story was straight up out of Stepford Wives. Awesome stories Love.
36:20 sorry, darling, but you have to set ground rules BEFORE you get married lest you end up with a divorce or annulment. It's also a good idea to live with your partner before you get married because you don't know whether or not you'll get along once you live together.
Seems like he pretended before marriage though :( a lot of men do, it's sick
@@ChristineMurray93 Sometimes you can try to do everything right and things will still go wrong. Ground rules are good, but it may not be possible to set boundaries comprehensive enough to cover everything that could possibly come up, especially if people don’t show you who they really are. These people lived together before they got married, but the husband and MIL were manipulative sociopaths.
Right. It is never the woman's fault.
@@90000cg Are you implying that the mother-in-law is blameless, then?
@@a_paradoxfunction4156 Sometimes you can try but they will just see it as something to tippy toe around, and continue to follow things to a tee while going on with their malicious intentions.
I’m cooking dinner and I get to listen while I wait! Thank you!!
Daaaaaang, that last story was nuts. I don't know why, but I found that one even more disturbing than Francis or the witch friend. Idk maybe it's because I'm newly engaged and it just sounds so believable 😅 (not that the other ones aren't, people are definitely crazy)
There is no good kind of which craft
THERE IS NO KIND OF WITCH CRAFT
The third lady should've said in the end, "I don't WANT someone like you." I'm glad you got through grad school!
And still became a housewife...so kind of a hallow victory
"We wrestle not against flesh and blood but pricipalities, against powers, agaisnt the rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in dark places" Ephesians 6:12. Thwre is no suxh thing as a "good witch, or wizard. If they get their power frok demons then beware. Im sorry your BFF ditched you, but you are better off
PFFT
The fact that the men in the second story so willingly followed an "alpha male" type and attacked their female friends with just one simple command shows what kind of people they truly were. The comment made earlier by one of them "its nice to see a guy in our group actually protect the girls"(or something like that) immediately made me feel uncomfortable. That statement felt wrong, and with what happened at the waterfall its clear non of the men in the group actually cared about their female friends. Except OP of course.
That intro was cold 🥶
The first story was weird but at the same time she wasn't a great friend either.
The second story, Jesus that guy was such a cult leader. He twisted a whole group of men to do things that was clearly not okay. He did stuff for them just for leverage. Like he's a mafia boss.
So the last story sounds like a marriage that happened too soon. In no way am I saying she was at fault, but not discussing children and a plan before marriage?
Also, I know people can change, especially after they become too comfortable, but there is a lot of naivety on her part.
That lady in story 3 really thinks America of all places has the best traditions and morals in marriage 😂😂😂. Lmao wow
What Francis did to the girls was inexcusable but the OP is not a likeable guy either.
Total beta that simps for girls attention.
First
Great job 👏. Never disappoint. The calming voice, you could be ASMR. 😂 Thank's Joel ❤
Last story, Lucinda was a true Monster-In-Law!
I feel like Francis story is REAL!
Its way too creative to be fictional and yes he has the making of a varsity cult leader.
if Francis becomes a cult leader i wouldn’t be surprised
More betrayal/fake friends stories please! These were really good!
Story 1 was a trip! Wow!
It sounds fake like a creepy pasta or fanfiction
them boys was glazing Francis 😭
for every like i’ll do a pull up 🙏🏼😼 (my max is 12 ☠️)
Francis definitely seems like a cult leader but they could’ve all been on bath salts or something too I feel like those are the only 2 options lol
Lowkey sounds like Stephanie had romantic feelings for OP. She went out with a bunch of "guys" that OP never saw, claimed that college was for experimenting, and said, "you're mine". Sounds like some overbearing lesbian crap.
Lmfao so Eric and his mom need to be together apparently. That's so fucked up lmao
Cool stories Joel...really enjoyed these...so much better than paranormal & bigfoots/bigfeet...i dont know what the plural of imaginary creatures is...lol
YEH BIG SIGN WHEN ITS A COLLECTION OF MADE UP FAIRY STORIES
But there is no such thing as protestant catholic....they are totally separate. If you are not catholic, or Orthodox you are protestant 🤔 I think that story was fake. "Not in my America, no family values are to be glorified "
Ppl are weird u think u know someone but then they do the 180 on you u shocked and lost...
What the heck is glamping??
Yo, these are all BANGERS 👌
Story 3 she should've recorded that conversation, going in on her own, with someone that manipulative...and taken that to a lawyer.
Funniest thing is being at the live stream knowing how Mr. Read was going through it with these stories. 😅
Yes😂😂
I'm sorry ground rules happened before the marriage.
2nd story reminds me a bit about Francis from Malcolm in the Middle he was a massive delinquent too but not to this extent as far as the show was concerned anyways.
