It's good to know about your background. I am a US citizen (now 60) currently residing in my hometown near Chennai. My personal life circumstances are the reason for my current situation. What I suggest is that don't comeback to Chennai. Several reasons: 1. In this global warming world Chennai is becoming unlivable AC is of very little use. Seattle is one of the best places to live in the US. 2. Don't be an emotional freak attached to Tamil culture. Because it is slowly disappearing. People don't truly respect you unless you are a multimillionaire. 3. Your son's education and future. Don't switch between two radically different methods of learning. US is more practical and India try to stuff too much into the heads of young kids. I never taught my son anything in life (I was twice divorced and did not live with my son) but he got a BE in computer science and immediately landed in a job with Northrup Grummen as a cybersecurity software engineer. Such smooth sailing in life is impossible in India. The competition is brutal up here. Not to mention finding a suitable partner when he comes of age. My son married his high-school sweetheart (I was not informed/ invited) who has completed PhD in Chemistry and works in a Private company. There are many other reasons. Perhaps you can plan your return after retirement. This is my personal view of course.
