Thanks for the video. Also thanks for showing that back of the panel - now I'm more interested as it looks like the brick on the back can be removed. How did you wall mount it when using USB-power? Is there a bracket?
I have been revisiting your videos while doing my house Reno now. I have got the s1 plus already and will be setting it up when the Reno is down. Thank you for the awesome knowledge sharing as always
Not all American light switches have a neutral line in them. There was a (fairly) recent update to the NEC to require one for new construction and renovations. I don't have info on the date it changed, but I think was less than ten years. This means that Canada and Mexico followed suit since they both adopted the US code almost verbatim.
yup the price difference is huge, S1E does not have mic and speaker so all the functions that require those will not be available, only the S1+ pair nicely with their G4 doorbell and if you have many devices that require slider controls ie. smart lights and window treatment, you will want the S1+
Hello Alex, if everything I buy is from taobao, I suppose I need a China hub too and set account to China region? Any shortcomings to that? Thanks for all your videos!
Hello, Aqara has the rectangular switches for the US standard, is this what you looking for?? i just got one from amazon, available in the official Aqara-amazon store for the USA and Canada too, in Mexico available in amazon with third sellers.
Thank you for showing us what the S1+ looks like with HA. I live in China but no one has put this kind of detailed info online. Also from my search, it IS a zigbee hub and I've seen people posting screenshots of adding a 子设备 to this panel.
Control paneles are usually mounted 145 cm from the floor and light switches 95 cm in the EU. I hope the global version will address the issue, there're hardly any lightswitches on that hight to drain the power from, so you would be forced to use the unhidden USB-C port.
@@hiraihyde nah just saying, cos in the previous video Alex introduces us Ubiquiti product, so i mean i would rather allocate my budget to upgrade my wifi setup instead
Hooray, I'm in a reaction video! Fame at last! 🤣 Thanks man!
Nice review. Do you know whether the mechanical switch work as 2way switch?
Thanks for the video.

no bracket, the USB port will be exposed outside at the bottom of the unit

Informative as always. Now that I'm doing my home reno I'm rewatching all your smart home tips again😂
Does this device proximity sensor? Like does it turn on the display when a person approaches
@@savit3r yes it does, you can select the sensitivity or even turn it off
Always like how Paul Hibbert does his smart home tech review. Forever goofy, forever exploding heads. Haha. Love your react as well.

How does it compare with the Aqara S1E magic switch? It appears to have similar functionality but on a smaller screen and doesn't cost as much.

Does the Aqara only works and configurable from an iPhone/iPad? Is it Android friendly?
the S1 pro dashboard is configured on the device itself. The aqara app is available on apple and google app store
Hello Alex, if everything I buy is from taobao, I suppose I need a China hub too and set account to China region? Any shortcomings to that? Thanks for all your videos!
if you are going to use the aqara app then the china server might cause some latency and not able to access all the services blocked by china
About Siri. Did I understand correctly, the panel would act as a gateway to Siri on HomePods, like the ecobee?
Can you please advice Zigbee wall switch with demission 120 * 72 *34mm ?
its uncommon to look for switches based on dimension 😂
@@AlexTeo my house outlet very old most of wall switch coming with dimensions 85.8*86*37.55 mm that’s why I can’t use them 🥲🥲
@@sandasoo if it's a box up then just change the whole box

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Does it have a web browser we could show Homeassistant dashboards on
nope, no web browser

seems like only the china ver is a hub, but not the rest
Aqara switches cannot integrate to Google Home? I thought the Global version switches can?
wall switches yes, not for wireless switches

Hello! nice video :) Does the chinese version now have Matter support??
no idea man, i don't have the chinese version
@@AlexTeo Thanx!! few days ago i ordered the CN version, then i will see :)
Thanks for the review. Not for me as it’s a hassle to walk to a specific location to trigger scenes/automation. Looking forwards to your next video!
yeah its like your hotel switch panel
Alex I'd sponsor you if I was Aqara dude! My cousin and I are both watching your videos while planning for our house Reno. Keep up the good work :D

got the S1E China version, excited to install it soon!

awesome!
congrats for winning the coasters, DM me on IG!
It's too small to have all essential functions on 1 screen, and unless you install 1 in every room it defeats the purpose of home automation.
that's generally the case for such device type, a dashboard is there to just provide you an additional option for something visual
wah, the price tag😢
save your money and buy Ubiquiti product instead 😂
