Why are people complaining about this? If you drive a car it really doesn't affect you. You're gonna be stopped in traffic anyways lmao. If you dont care about motorcyclists lifes & say they are the most reckless people, then why do you care about this law? Settle down lol
Because some people only think of themselves, and if they don't ride, they only think of the thought of being "startled" by seeing a biker filter past them. Not of the multitude of benefits us riders can reap from this
What an idiotic law. It's hard for commercial truck drivers or pick up truck hauling a trailer or rv or school bus to share lanes with motorcycle things can happen so fast. This law needs to be revoked its dangerous and the state of mn is putting innocent drivers at risk. Most motorcyclists does not drive with care because it's a motorcycle and they think since its a motorcycle they are faster than the speed of reaction than the speed of physics.
@DeathCon666 and if "the people of Minnesota" stays quite and silent about this law, 99.9% Minnesota state law makers will pass this law and it will go into effect by next year. Hopefully we will oppose this law. 🙏
Bruh, only crazy people are splitting between moving trucks and busses. Splitting is more for standstill/ stop and go traffic not 80mph down the interstate.
Filtering will be fine but I can see the lane splitting getting abused wrongly by egotistical crotchrocketers in non heavy traffic going fast, giving all bikers a bad name and ruining it for everyone else.
@@leprechaun3677 We'll see. I love crotchrockets and enjoy going up to Brainerd raceway to watch real professionals handle the full potential of those bikes. It doesn't hurt me, like watching a druggy with his pants down on the street. They can do drugs or speed between cars all they want. Doubt I'll see many baggers or adventure bikes weaving carelessly. Mainly adrenaline fueled bikes which younger men prefer and are more careless
@@Hulious777 lol you act like the bike and the person riding it are synonymous. A lot of motorcyclists have more than one, the guy I bought my ADV from had 16 bikes. The reality is, that guy who is riding a bagger or that ADV may also ride crotchrockets. I go between cars on it no different than I had when I had my crotchrocket. That’s why I think beef between say a sport bike and a Harley rider is so funny; we’re all on the road riding on two wheels, just because you see me on a gold wing one day doesn’t mean I’m not tearing it up on the track in a GSX1000 the next. And your comment highlights the fact that people can’t see past the bike they’re riding; it means nothing outside of the fact that they’re riding a bike.
Why we going to strawmen, I don't care what you have/had and assumptions of me. Fact is majority of young people start out with rockets and tear it up on public roads instead of the track and some eventually don't make it home with their actions

@YamahaMt0 No it dosn't work. In case you're just a newb, I've been riding for almost 50 years and I know that young dolts and some older ones too will lane split at all speeds weaving through traffic and getting crunched. @@kevincourtney7312 I learned how to ride in California. Since then I’ve ridden in 3 other states, I’ve seen the benefits and it absolutely works. Just because you can’t or choose not to doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.
This is a stupid law. I've been riding almost 50 years and cars will be damaged by bikers clipping mirrors and people will grow more hostile to bikers. Angry people will block lanes and of course, there will be more motorcycle accidents. It's just a fact, watch the bikers in California splitting lanes at 70 mph and tell me it's safer.
You speak nothing but the facts and truthes. These young and some old motorcyclists likes to show off a lot about how fast and cool and good they are when riding. And tell me how are commercial trucks supposed to share lanes split a lane with a motorcycle?? Especially oversized commerical trucks. This law is just ridiculous.
I rode for 2 years in California and split thousands of cars; never took a single mirror. Just because you’re incompetent doesn’t mean others are. And by the way, California law says you shouldn’t split faster than 10mph. People who break the law will Choose to break the law regardless if it’s a law. But splitting is shown to make motorcyclists safer; in fact most countries in Europe have already legalized it.
Since this is not gonna happen till next July 2025, hopefully the government between now and next July will see how ridiculous this law is and reillegalize it before the deadline
Left lane drivers will always be more of a menace and danger than bikers. (statistically speaking). And cops don't enforce those laws, but keep whining
As a driver and a rider myself I've seen the bad on both side yes there are bad riders going way too fast and reckless and yes there are very bad drivers who have no awareness dont use mirrors or distracted on phone etc. This law will only help the riders be safer spot on stop traffic, and this will teach drivers to be more aware of their surroundings. There will always be bad rider or driver. This law hurts no one as long as it's in stop/slow traffic in low appropriate speeds
People who are against this need to grow up and stop veiwing it as "cutting the line" and see it for what for the life saving option it really is. This isn't kindergarten anymore, grow up.
Sure, let's give the most reckless people on the road, with the least self preservation instincts, license to be even more reckless. Good news for organ donations though

It absolutely affects cars. Bikers zipping between cars when we can’t see or anticipate them is asking for an accident that didn’t need to happen.
this is so much safer for motorcyclists than just sitting in traffic
