i’m applying to Harvard this November and now I’m definitely going to send in an art portafolio (I’ve also been singing for as long as I can remember!)
@@sofiapesantez3344 thank you! I was thinking about sending in: la vie en rose and hay que sacar al diablo but I haven't chosen one in english yet, I still have time to think about it
Hi!! I don’t really know much about how the international application process works, but if you are a musician, I would definitely suggest submitting an arts portfolio!!
hey so I play piano, but I’m not like too interested as you are as getting more knowledge on it, but do you think if I submitted an arts portfolio, it’d help my application
Sorry for being ignorant but why did you submit a vocal potfolio? I also sing (havent won any awards) but I’m now wondering how that can affect my admission even if my major has nothing to do with singing? I have a similar video (it’s my second year of doing musical theatre in my school and have a fairly good video of me singing breathe from in the heights on stage last year). Anyways you’re really talented and hope everything goes well at Stanford! (I didn’t even realize until now the irony of me playing Nina and you getting into Stanford lmao)
Don’t worry!! I think that it shows admissions officers a completely different side of you, and the fact that you will bring your talent to campus. I’m going to be involved in acapella and theater on campus, and they want someone that will bring valuable passion and talent to campus!! Hope this helps, and thanks so much!!!

Hi Sofia! Are you able to tell me what musical things you have done (eg. competitions, performances) and would a uni consider students who have done a lot of extra curricular activities even if they had been done in primary/elementary? Currently I go to a music school so I can’t fit in a lot of extracurricular things in my schedule, would that hurt my chances of being considered? Sorry for all these questions! - Caleb, Australia.
Sure! I can help you out! So for competitions, I have participated in New York’s NYSSMA festival for both cello and voice since 5th grade. Every year, I prepared a solo and performed it in front of a judge to get a grade. This grade determined whether or not I would make it to the festival. The only year I didn’t get into the county festival was 7th grade, so i got in the rest of the years. Then I auditioned for the all state competition and got in my senior year! I also was the lead in the musical my senior year, and am also the president of my music honor society. i am in two advanced music ensembles in my school, so i think this all showed a lot of dedication towards music to the admissions officers. I think that the fact that you go to a music school should show a lot to admissions officers, because that shows that you are dedicated to music! Do you take part in shows during school, or performances? Make sure to try and be as involved as possible during the school day, helping out planning events and such, because this will help you out with establishing connections with your teachers and things of that nature. If there is a possibility of establishing leadership positions within the school day, or even a little bit after school, make sure to do that! If you are in a show, strive to be a lead, or even a stage manager if you are offstage. Any sort of involvement will help make your application more well rounded! Hope this helps, and best of luck with the application process!
i’m a freshman vocalist this year & i got into senior districts. my goal is to get at least an all state recommendation next year. do you have any tips on how you got into all state?
Nice, but you can hear that you are not a classical singer. The second song was far to high for you and the falsetto was kinda weird. You can hear the difference between the upper and lower register. Its really strong and clear whereas the upper register is too breathy. Nevertheless you are a good singer and if you work on your upper register you might soon be superb :)
You're so awesome,, I have a big expect to being you,, but I'm sure I never can being like you,, your college which you applied,, all of them is my dream school also,, I know I have a highest dream,, I never can to reach my dream, I know I'm so stupid,, I know that's something impossible to I get in
I really hope you consider being involved in the theatre community at Stanford because we would love to have you :)))
