    Thanks for this follow-up video. I really appreciate how hard it can be to document small mistakes like these. But thanks to your hard work, this one served a greater purpose. I am looking forward to trying dustcrete. And seeing how easy it is to work with after it's cured is very reassuring. Thanks again!

    Now I'm plastering my log house with the same mixture, only with the addition of red clay. This composition was traditional for the insulation of rural houses in the USSR . It is called thermolite in local literature.

    • @radicalgastronomy
      @radicalgastronomy  Год назад

      That is great! Others have informed me of the long tradition with this mixture in Eastern Europe. Maybe if our governments hadn’t spent the last 60 years acting like spoiled toddlers we would have been able to share more insights.
      Are you using Portland in the mix? I have plans to test a mix of clay and lime without the cement.

    • @piotrpavlovich
      @piotrpavlovich Год назад +1

      @@radicalgastronomy I use pure cement without additives. 1 part cement, 1 part slaked lime, 6 parts sawdust, 1 part dry wood chips. I mix these components in dry form, then I make clay milk from raw clay and water 1:1. everything is mixed together to the desired consistency. I use this to plaster the walls. Although cement is considered to be not friendly with clay, lime binds them. Previously, we plastered with clay and straw. The straw was just like reinforcement. But the clay itself takes a long time to dry. It's faster with cement.

    I wonder if you might be able to even reuse the dustcrete that you chiseled out of the wall by simply mixing it in with a new batch - although you might have to pulverize it into smaller pieces first. This seems great.
    By the way, I saw a video of someone making styrocrete - gaining many of the same benefits of aircrete without the hassle of fickleness while recycling a lot of Styrofoam at the same time.

      I never have. You might want to paint the metal first. I have no idea how moisture between the dustcrete and metal would effect the integrity of the metal. I suppose, in the worst case, the metal would rust away, leaving a dustcrete building. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Would you be willing to make an e.g. 6 inch block out of this material and stress test it with a hammer after curing? And / or put weight on it (without impact) to see how much pressure it can take?
    Do you think it is also applicable for this garden box type
    ruclips.net/video/yuSBwFkCiAw/видео.html
    Can it withstand pressure from the side?
    This repair video is an important part of this "series" about this material. Don't know if you're the inventor of this mix, but i think you helped a lot of people to broaden their perception.
