  • Mr Potter is a 4 month old Miniature Schnauzer puppy who is having his very first experience of being groomed and clipped. Mr Potter demonstrates some very normal puppy reactions to the new experiences that he's having and I show you how I give him guidance on the behaviours that are acceptable and unacceptable. I am also training him to stand quietly, or lay on his side and relax while being groomed. I am always aiming for improvement, if he gets worse at the next groom that means I have not noticed an unwanted behaviour and given him effective enough guidance of what I want him to do.
It is so important to actually give puppies and dogs clear guidance about how we want them to behave, in a way that is effective and gets the result we want, very quickly. It should not take months to manage poor behaviours, improvement should be seen with every groom - if they are not getting better each time then we the humans, need to scrutinize what we are letting the pup get away with and work how to stop that happening. Effective grooming training does not require treats, it requires the puppy to learn to be still and accept what is happening because as a long haired dog, this is going to be very much a part of their life.
We have these beautiful little Miniature Schnauzer puppies for sale in South East Queensland. We put the hard work into training these puppies while we have them, we show you how to raw feed and train your puppy and we can organise transport for them if needed.

Seems a bit harsh holding him back his head the whole time but enjoying the teaching video.
