    lovely video. An update from an Athenian (me). The cost of electricity have skyrocketed and for a 50 sm house (2 people) is around 350 euro per month. If you know how to shop, the cost of food (supermarket) is per month 100 euro per person (or even less). The center of Athens is very bad related to the rents but just 3-4 klm away (wherever metro exists) its much less. Again thank you for the lovely video.

      How much do you pay per kwh? Here in the UK where electricity is already expensive and has increased a lot like everywhere else, we pay €35.70 per kWh + daily charge of €50p and our monthly bill is half that for a larger flat (about 70sm). I am just curious to see how both compare as it seems crazy high.

    • @MariaAya
      @MariaAya 2 года назад +1

      @@Stavraetina its very complicated. As on the price of kwh are added extra municipality, tv (that i dont have but we cant avoid) extra ability of using of electricity !!!(it was 71 euro for me !!) and over all these the vat, so the pure electric use was 180 euro and my bill was 350 euro :( we are on a huge crisis with electricity from October, but March and April bills came as hell :(

      350 EUR for one month 50sm apt? That almost can't be, an apt that size at your latitude you probably can do with 4/5 solar panels. If this is really the case I assume a lot of people can't afford their current apartment anymore, right? Are people leaving cities?

    • @MariaAya
      @MariaAya 2 года назад

      @@fantasticchupacabra7205 no because most works exist in cities, as this is very recent (after Ukrain war actualy) there is expected help from goverment ... solar is not posible for old buildings in cities :/

    If you want to work remotely and get paid above 1800 Euros per month it is a solid option to live in Athens. If someone wants to work in Greece and not remotely then they must have a very good agreement with the company they want to work for. The salary must be above 1800 to be safe.

    Thank you. Informative as always ! I have a suggestion, perhaps you can do more in-depth video for a specific city. You can the make few videos about one specific city ! Then people will watch more videos after knowing the cost of living in that city. You can provide more information, living standards. Fun, adventures. Local amenities, local food. Local tourist attractions. So, then people who are just watching your Chanel to know the cost of living, will watch your other videos about that city for more information.
    Please let me know what you think !
    Take care !

      Hi Razim, thanks for the input. I do not expect these videos would return a better return (value provided / views / subscribers gained) on time invested compared to cost of living vids. In that sense a better return on invested time would be "walking tours" in crowded location(time). There are just a lot of videos in general, and not a lot of time/energy in one's life. In that sense I have planned a video with Andrea that has the potential to appeal to the eyes and the souls of men, let's see how that goes. Another potential video Idea I just had where it would not require a lot of effort for Andrea, and where is a demand (and also a marketing channel, simply linking after the cost of living in Zurich and Geneva) is: How to save money living in Switzerland (2022).

    The cost of electricity is very high. About 200-400 euros a month. Plus to get an apartment you have to pay the agent a month rent as well as the deposit. So if your rent is 600, you have to also pay the agent 600. Sometimes there is no agent fee but rare. If you are lucky you can avoid an agent. Rents have gone up too. Expensive everywhere.

    To everyone watched this video. Tap Water is absolutely safe here in Greece. Don't here this guy. He was here for a while. Don't waste money for bottled water when you can drink filtered and clean water(tap water). In mainland Greece the water is safe and of great quality almost anywhere. You must be careful with the water in the Islands.

    Thanks for the video!! I love Athens and think it's one of the best values around for the quality of life you get. 60 dollars a month for insurance 😂 Here in the US if I was to buy health insurance (I'm 48) it would cost me close to $1000/month. Yeah the US sucks in terms of healthcare. Also you mentioned residence permits, I am assuming you're referring to EU nationals?

    • @pattifilms7858
      @pattifilms7858  2 года назад +1

      So health insurance is probably a requirement for anyone (any nationality) and then for the other things you need to get it probably depends from nationality to nationality. Yeah Athens gives you a lot for your money 🤑

    In short: Bills about 160$. Rent 490$, Transport 30$, Internet and phone 50$, Food with eating outdoor 300-400$, Health Care 60$, if you want to buy clothes about 100-250$ = 999$ at least to survive with some extras. Imagine earning an average salary of 920$, you can cut corners, but still, you need about 1500-1900$ to live freely.

    ✨✨✨Question ✨✨✨
    2,000€ a month for a single (without rent) it’s a good amount to live in Athens?
    And I’m talking about a good life …
    Eats every day outside
    going out to bars/clubs twice a week
    Buy clothes when I’ll need

    1) To compare Athens with Sweden, USA and Japan is kinda 50x50, they have much better economies and of course Greece is cheaper than them. Better to compare with something more grounded, like Riga, Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Tallinn, Barselona, Rome. And then add those 3 included in this video.
    2) apeaking about city in Europe with euro currency and comparing price only in US dollars.. ¿¿¿

    1000 per month with a very modest lifestyle and not counting in medicine etc or vacation. Now go look up what is the minimum or even the average wage. Personally I blame the criminally useless government and I choose to live abroad for now.

      If you come as digital nomad is totally worth it. But For Greek people who get paid with 700€ per month no it's not affordable at all.
