When Ortofon approached me about making a video using their new VNL cartridges, I knew immediately what I wanted to do - and what better way to test the capabilities of a DJ needle than with real vinyl, right? 🤔
So.....this marks the first time performing my 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 routine in almost 10 years! 😲 A video that I reluctantly posted to RUclips back in 2011 with ZERO expectations, and even doubts about how it might be judged against current turntablism standards 🤷🏽♂️ To my surprise however, it became a bonafied viral hit and to date it’s been featured in a Netflix documentary 📺 a popular video game franchise 🎮 a catwalk fashion show in Sweden 👗 a primetime commercial on German TV 🇩🇪 an art projection in New York 🇺🇸 and an exhibition at the Museum of Image and Sound in Brazil 🖼
So here it is....𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺: 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 for 2020 and beyond, dedicated to my inspirations, my peers, and all of you who continue to support my work, old and new.... I hope you will love this lightly modified version just as much as the original 🙏

This is the same as saying "ladies and gentlemen this is a real metalworker. Doing it on a anvil, no welding, no grinding. All real METALWORK" there are more than 1 way to dj, just like there are skilled metalworkers who can do things like they used to. They don't discredit people who do it the modern way. Both need skill, but both use there skills to better there accuracies, telling a modern dj they're not a real dj is like saying "you're not a real gamer unless you've played zelda"

Been knocking on a bit now since I 1st found your channel and subbed and to be honest after being into turntablism since 97 I've seen a lot but I have to say you're the worlds greatest. I like that you still keep it turntablism without over use of sample buttons. Musicality, skills, flow, ideas, no one better.

I'm 26, started learning music when I was 18 and production when I was 22, it was by this age that I've also started to get more into beats, hip-hop and its sub-genres, much like because I was quite addicted (and I still am ) to trip-hop by that time :D. Now I am quite certain that this is the direction I want to take in my music. I'm currently in a difficult situation where I can't buy a turntable for me, but this is one of my biggest dreams right now. After all of this has gone through, I'll have my own turntable and start learning the art of turntablism. Amazing performances like this is what have been motivated me the most to keep this goal alive, and honestly, this one might have been the best I've ever seen, never felt so inspired. Thank you so much, I hope one day I will be able to pull off a fantastic jam like this.

And if you need to set a cue point, you don't have to write any script on your software, you just need to put a little piece of tape... And if you wanna make a loop you just put another piece of tape... Daddy, this DJ is really the coolest and the most modern I have ever seen... You should buy a consolle like that. Throw away your ancient laptop and buy a modern spinning platters consolle... Pleeeaaase!!!"

The segment at 1:27 is a lot cleaner than your old video. In the last one it was a cool interlude to show off your mixing skills, but now it's got a good rhythm to boot.

The improvement on the "step up suckas" section/movement was very much noticed and holy fuck man I've heard and rewatched the OG video so many times and this remaster is just hands down my fav turntablism/DJ set ever, its just perfection.
