charlottejets they really are so good... you should check out Bad Suns and the 1975 (if you haven't already heard of them). Bad suns is relatively unknown though (I think)
I am extremely protective over this song. like i only ever listen to it when it just begins to be sunny so those good fuzzy feelings stay within this song and just...goddamn. thank you for making such an important song to my life soundtrack!!
The whole of the 'Life is elsewhere' album is one of the best albums to come out of the UK in a very very long time. The lyricism, production & the way all the songs compliment each other is something else entirely. One of my favourite albums of all time!!
You feel the weight of imposition Bear heavy on your own decision Fate to face they multiply The crush of language And the cedent school ties The subtle angles of tradition Eton for portent St. Paul’s for context Oxbridge for vision No need to make this popular One man for progress One man for past tense One man for vision No need to make this popular With your school cap Blowing in the breeze It’s about time That we made education Not a funnel but a wide line Youth to NEET As Gove to tact A million faces that are Staring straight past This mix of ignorance And fission I’d rather starve then Become a member of Your old boy’s club Sooner depart than See the ascension Of the Bullingdon Because I want to Make a breakthrough A tired addendum To working hard….
Went to an Everything Everything concert recently, and this song came on the loudspeakers before the show. I was amped to hear Little Comets being played outside of my own phone lmao
Little Comets make the funnest, most intricate, lyrically amazing, and beautiful music that I've heard in a long time. They're hard to beat. Favorite band, bar none.
Dear Little Comets. When you become huge in the United States please remember us fans who have supported you from the start. The second I heard "Bridge Burn" I was hooked.
I love that I cant understand what theyre singing till I look up the lyrics :')) seriously, they're genius, leaning the enunciation and everything, they just have a play around and all of a sudden we're wondering if theyre even speaking English! Lads
this band would have blown off in South Africa if they were from here. this exactly what is poplar here ala beatenberg, shortstraw, desmond and the tutus
I remember when I traveled to England, I visited Oxford and Cambridge and was impressed by the history and architecture of those institutions. But then I saw those students head high on their bikes around the campuses and I just had this song in my head... ''With your school cap blowing in the breeze, It's about time that we made education not a funnel but a wide line''
Bought a ticket to see you guys in Newcastle soon but I can not get a lift there and back home to Middlesborough, devastated! keep up the good work lads the music is incredible
I've loved them for about 5-6 years now (& I'm in the US) and LOVE that their not popular. NOT THAT I DONT WANT THEM TO BE FINANCIALLY SUCCESSFUL, but let's just remember what happened to Kings of Leon....
Yea, I hear what you mean. Vocals are buried a tad too deep. THAT, coupled with lazy singing. This guy could use some professional vocal training. He HAS a good voice, just has problems with articulation. Drives me INSANE when I hear a singer being lazy. EXAMPLE: The lyric is: " but you" they SING "butt chew" or "Don't You" becomes "Don't CHEW" Still.... He's in a band. I'm sittin on my a$$ criticizing. God I love America. This tune DOES get into your head though. Also, being fair, I did a little more research into them. One major thing stood out. They are English, singing about things, places and concepts that are predominately England. Me, being in the USA AND OLDER, I didn't make the connections in their lyrics as a result. SEEING the lyrics to this song, I thought it quite clever. Mr Lead singer: Opinions are like A$$holes, EVERYONE has one. MY opinion will probably mean absolutely nothing but, here goes: You and your band are in a VERY difficult business to "Make it" Your vocal style may just be one the main reasons people are drawn to your music. EVERYONE is a critic. All I will say is take the good idea's and devote a few braincells to process. For those who simply want to trash your group: IGNORE them - The world is more than happy to attempt to drag you down to its level of misery. Now, let me hit that play button again.... dammit ;-)
waydav1s They're from Newcastle, up north in England. That's how they pronounce words😂 it's not bad vocal articulation it's an accent 😂 God I love England.
Little Comets consistently write the most lyrically intelligent and complex songs I think I've ever heard, I love them
I agree wholeheartedly. I'm always amazed by how well he controls the English language. Every song feels like poetry to my ears.
charlottejets they really are so good... you should check out Bad Suns and the 1975 (if you haven't already heard of them). Bad suns is relatively unknown though (I think)
+Zach Johnson I love bad Suns so much! They're incredible
Almost as good as these ruclips.net/video/kEDKlhTTWVo/видео.html
Just wait until you find Tool...
I am extremely protective over this song. like i only ever listen to it when it just begins to be sunny so those good fuzzy feelings stay within this song and just...goddamn. thank you for making such an important song to my life soundtrack!!
I DO THE SAME UNCONSCIOUSLY! Now I’m purposely going to be protective of it.
This song rhythmically is insane. Not just your classic times and beats, with a cheeky bit of 9/4. Hats off to you guys
I can hear 14/16 in the intro and outro (which is so cool!), but never 9/4 - when do they play in 9/4?
The chorus I think! I guess it could be split into a bar of 4/4 and then 5/4 but still cool!
Even in 2024, I listen to this music in aspiration of the musical talent presented. Well done guys!
The whole of the 'Life is elsewhere' album is one of the best albums to come out of the UK in a very very long time. The lyricism, production & the way all the songs compliment each other is something else entirely. One of my favourite albums of all time!!
This song makes me feel happy every single time! Just love it so much😍
You feel the weight of imposition
Bear heavy on your own decision
Fate to face they multiply
The crush of language
And the cedent school ties
The subtle angles of tradition
Eton for portent
St. Paul’s for context
Oxbridge for vision
No need to make this popular
One man for progress
One man for past tense
One man for vision
No need to make this popular
With your school cap
Blowing in the breeze
It’s about time
That we made education
Not a funnel but a wide line
Youth to NEET
As Gove to tact
A million faces that are
Staring straight past
This mix of ignorance
And fission
I’d rather starve then
Become a member of
Your old boy’s club
Sooner depart than
See the ascension
Of the Bullingdon
Because I want to
Make a breakthrough
A tired addendum
To working hard….

"no need to make this popular"
Trevor Kennerknecht
That line is out of context.
I've loved them for about 5-6 years now (& I'm in the US) and LOVE that their not popular. NOT THAT I DONT WANT THEM TO BE FINANCIALLY SUCCESSFUL, but let's just remember what happened to Kings of Leon....

+Robert J the thick English accent makes it more difficult to understand I think, nevertheless, it's a great song and Little Comets are a great band !
waydav1s They're from Newcastle, up north in England. That's how they pronounce words😂 it's not bad vocal articulation it's an accent 😂 God I love England.
Like if Emma Woodhouse brought you here
The 1975?
The 1975 supported these guys years ago. As did Catfish.
I think they said a fast 9/4!
This song makes me feel happy every single time! Just love it so much😍
