I wanted to mention, I had gastric bypass done 11/4/2021. I have several health issues that were cause for concern prior to surgery. (2 heart conditions-including open heart surgery twice. Once with major complications. A bleeding disorder. End stage COPD-was pending being putv on the lung transplant list once I reached a goal weight. Plus a few other issues) My surgeon assured me I would be fine and that RNY was my best option. Boy, was he ever right! I had zero complications much to my surprise and so far I'm down 120 lbs. I'm no longer waiting to go on the lung transplant list due to my breathing improving. I'm still on oxygen. But I'm doing WAY better! I'm much more active and much much happier! Going from a 3XL to an 8 is an amazing feeling. Now if I could shed these last 20 I'd be tickled lol If you're on the fence and worried about complications. Talk ton your Dr. Then think about how you'll be in 5 years if you don't do it. Then think about where you'll be if you do.
I'm entering the bariatric surgical program next week and I'm so grateful to find your channel! Thanks for covering this, and I love that you're a numbers guy! ✌️
I came across your page when researching more information on Gastric Bypass. Pros and Cons. I am in middle of process to have Gastric Bypass. I have Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis and I am pre diabetic. I am looking forward to having my surgery. I know it’s not the easy way out but I have to do this for my health, my future. Thank you sharing this information. Every lil bit helps
U right every surgery have risk I know two women had bbl done almost died from infection and still struggling and taking meds they are miserable and gain weight from stress but I told them to seek therapy and I’m always there for them
Sorry to hear that 😭 There can be some bumps in the road along the journey but you still have to make sure the benefits outweighs the risks. Luckily with weight loss surgery if you choose a good surgeon and follow the surgeons guidelines then there should be little to no complications!

@@yaasy77smart1 sorry to hear about the complications! Even with some small short term complications it’s still better than having long term complications of being overweight such as heart disease, diabetes, etc. I’m almost 7 months post op and down 100 lbs and feel amazing 🙌 I plan on making more videos and giving updates. I’ve been swamped with work 😫
Thank you for this video, I am scheduled to get mine done tomorrow and I’m so nervous. I am pre-diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Pcos and others. I was 320 but now 277 today but it took me almost a year to lose this. I’m so scared for tomorrow.
You will be fine!!! Any surgery can be terrifying, but you have to think of all the long term benefits! I was nervous right before my surgery but I’m now 6 months out 100 lbs down and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done!
@@bypassblake3010 that is so amazing! I’m really happy for you! And I got it done yesterday, just dealing with the pain laying in this hospital bed. I appreciate you for responding to me!
@S. that’s awesome 👏🏽 it was the healing, the pain, the coughing, the swallowing but it literally let up after a week and a half. Now I feel stronger and healthier and I’m sure I’ve lost about 15/20 pounds since the surgery. What I will say is, tell mom to make sure she is getting it for the right reasons. (Health, not because she just wants to lose weight quick) because it’s your mind and activity that does the work. She will not be able to sit down and enjoy a family meal like thanksgiving or Christmas but she will see district change in herself and her body instead. Found this just at the right time, I have my op in just over two weeks and started panicking about candycane syndrome and twisted bowel but I think they are very rare, hope so!!
Any info on the brain/gut connection? My daughter is turning 20 and wants to have the gastric sleeve. I’m concerned about her having 80 percent of her stomach (major organ) removed. I’m learning as much as I can to guide her.

Hey I really want the sleeve too but I’m worried about the heart burn situation like I get bad heartburn sometimes but I wouldn’t say I always suffer from it, how come they didn’t want you to get the sleeve like do you get heartburn/indigestion really bad?
I had gastric sleeve in 2015. I wish that I would’ve went with the bypass. I feel like over time I can pretty much eat as much as I could before I had the surgery. I know the sleeve is less invasive as bypass and that’s initially why I went with it and I did lose close to 100 pounds but I’m gaining it back :/
I had gastric sleeve in 2015 also. I’m in the same boat as you. The first six to eight months were great no hunger and lots of energy. After that it’s been a struggle. If anyone is reading this and thinking about surgery just remember no more aspirin or ibuprofen for the rest of your life.
@@baba10ye They tell not to take NSAID’s after you have the sleeve or bypass surgery. They are very bad for your stomach even for people who haven’t had the surgery. Tylenol is okay to take. The problem is Tylenol only works for certain ailments. Also many Doctors are not educated on weight loss surgery’s first thing they tell you to take is ibuprofen. Also many arthritis medicine’s contain NSAIDS.
I don’t recommend weight loss surgery for nobody the long term risk aren’t worth it! I rather exercise outside in the sun and change my diet and light environment!
Thank you for the video. I had the bypass almost 2 months ago and I feel like a new person.
