This looks good. A little tip from the German pronunciation guide: The name is pronounced "Nas - horn" , not "nashorn". No "sh" sound in the German word. It literally means "nose horn" in German and is the German word for rhinoceros. So, "nas" is "nose" and "horn" is, of course, "horn", in both languages. Looks like another great new kit for us armor modelers!
Yes! That was on my wish list too. The amount of detail that could be shown in the fighting compartment would be spectacular! (...BTW, if I am not mistaken, I think Henlong or another company is rumoured to be releasing a 1:16 scale Nashorn, but IMHO there are no guarantees that it will be as detailed as a kit from Andys HHQ...)
My kit arrived just yesterday and I can confirm - the molding quality is excellent, one-piece (with a muzzle brake too!) plastic gun barrel is just as good and figures are indeed a great addition. Not much PE parts and decals, but I'd argue such kit doesn't really require PE anyways, it's self-sufficient out-of-the-box
It's cool that Border Models is making so many different model types. Incidently, I still remember when I could buy a good quality car, tank, ship, and plane model for $1.00>$2.00. Candy bars which were larger than today's versions were 5 cents each. Maybe they seemed larger to my smaller kid hands, ha ha.😄
These Border kits seem like a good value, but they don't seem like they're up to the hyper detail level of Andy's HHQ kits. Your Sherman was incredible in every little detail.
I'm almost tempted to build it with the plastic barrel and have the metal barrel in a diorama showing a barrel replacement underway. Maybe use some of the other parts also for a field upgrade. Can't wait to get this one.
Hi Andy, everything looks like it’s on point from Border. I do wish they had the color call outs for the interior stuff as well! That was my major disappointment with the Lanc nose art. I have ton of research to do now. Thanks for sharing either way.
Very nice and detailed kit. I've never built a tank before, so I'm trying to find a kit you have to start off with. The figures really make the build complete - and that would be another first for me. If this is one you'll be assembling in a video, I look forward to that!
Thank you Andy, This one is really nice. I built the old Dragon that was alright, but I like that the canon shield is in one piece, as the dragon shield was sketchy to build and fragile. I'm surprised that Border doesn't make "clickable" molded tracks, it doesn't seem complicated to mold with shallow pins and holes and it would be top.
I just was commenting on your Border t34 and now I want this kit too. (More for the will do soon closet). My wife says I like a kid after I watch one of your videos...I am begging like please baby honey dear can i have some money for another new kit please please!!!" 🤣😁Another great video Andy!!!!
Good video!! Still working on my Tamiya version of tjis kit after about 5-years. Had the Dragon version but that had all kinds of fit problems. This kit looks awesome but will stick with my Tamiya kit, plus the decals are the same in all 3 versions.
Looks nice. But lets be honest, the dragon and tamiya kits are really good. And the price....i got the dragon kit for $30 back in 2008.the tamiya kit is around $65 ? How much for this one ? Can you really tell the difference if you have all 3 finished kits one next to the other?
It really looks like a nice kit although I think some sprues do have a huge amount of flash. One more thing to mention is that Andy is almost always spot on with his pronunciation of German words, but this time I just have to chime in: it is not "NASH-ORN" but "NAAS-HORN". I know that this is kind of pedantic and ads no value to the content of his videos, but he may (or may not) consider that for the future.
The flash is rather minimal, although it is where the butt hurts the most: the smaller parts (very RFM-esque, if you had any experience with their Shermans in particular), plastic shells are a great example. At least that is the case for the kit I got
Let's be a bit more honest here, the Border Models Pz Kpfw IV series wasn't bad despite messing up the turret roof of the F1 & including the wrong barrel cleaning rods, as for the Tiger 's...not good enough I'm sorry to say, save your cash and buy a Dragon kit. The Mobelwagen had an issue with the gun shield being the wrong shape on one side which Tamiya had correct a long time back, I didn't buy the "Luchs" kit as most of us know the Tasca kit is hard to beat, I believe from all I've read that the BM T-34/85 has a fair few issues as well. Border Models should spend more time on checking the actual vehicles & buying copies of "Panzertracts" and "Nuts & Bolts". The Pz IV /70 Alkett which Border previewed before the Nashorn does look rather promising though, just surprised that didn't appear before this one, I would certainly give credit to Border Models for including the metal barrel & brass rounds along with the crew with this kit although I believe that's only the first limited edition boxes that have the metal item's included I think I would rather wait until there's a build up online before I splash cash on the Border Models Nashorn, Tamiya did put one out not so long ago and although it's simplified in detail you know the kit would have been researched and the parts fit you also have the earlier AFV Club Nashorn kit which is rather detailed along with a separate upgrade kit. This Border kit was supposed to be an early which it doesn't look like to my eyes and it was also supposed to be a command version, well, if that's the case where are all the extra radios that should be included and the star antenna ?, I didn't notice any indication while Andy was turning the instruction pages that any radios are included at all for the command version.
That looks like a beautiful kit! I guess I have better build my Tamiya Nashorn before this one arrives, right? lol A quick question: There was a cable that connected the gun travel lock to a lever in the fighting compartment, so the crew didn't have to leave their somewhat protected fighting compartment to release the lock & allow the gun to elevate/rotate. I didn't see any sign of this in the parts or instructions. I know that Tamiya just moulds the cable on the upper hull...what has Border done? 🤔 BTW, who wants to start a pool re: when Border releases a Hummel? lol 😁
No, they were using fuel drums. Which is weird since Germans shared lots of their technology with Japanese, so one would expect something basic like jerry can would transfer too.
Nice kit, but as usual, garbage Takom style instructions. What colours would I paint any detail parts of the fighting compartment? Border model don't tell you fig. Just like Takom. Apart from vague pictures on the scheme pages in the back of the manual. Thanks, but, no thanks. I will be sticking to the Tamiya version in my stash.

Does the suspension work?
@@ivoferin8176 I would think not because the tracks are molded as straight solid segments on the bottom. This is similar to the Tamiya Nashorn.

You took the words out of my mouth 🙂
I love the Nashorn would love to see this in 1/16 scale hint hint lol
i saw it drive in 1:1 past weekend on militracks in overloon :p

Border models are hitting it out of the park recently, so many great kits, crew figures always a nice addition !!!

Border models have done it again another fantastic looking model nice one Andy Steve
That manual is amazing. Love all the painting illustrations and artwork. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Andy!!! I’ll be buying a couple of these for sure!
Hello andy. You thank me for watching. I thank you for Hosting

Another Outstanding video and presentation.

Just like Takom mate. They tell you nothing about detail colour painting. It's lazy and crap.
😍Oh wow, now that's a NICE kit!!!!!!👍

A+ for the included metal barrel and muzzle break
Models are coming thick and fast 👌🏻😎
Oh! And another one!!!!!!! This one ive known about, but still its coming my way!

Theses are amazing kits indeed. Any idea if rubber tracks are available
Hope you do a build of this one, Andy!
Hey Andy. I might have missed it but do you have the retail price on this kit?
Good video!! Still working on my Tamiya version of tjis kit after about 5-years. Had the Dragon version but that had all kinds of fit problems. This kit looks awesome but will stick with my Tamiya kit, plus the decals are the same in all 3 versions.

Looks a fab kit, I'm going to try and get my grubby paws on one.

Thanks for the video. I would like to see takom or ryefield do a JS2 with a complete interior!
This kit has some items that Dragon omitted and will probably be less fiddly. Definitely worth considering.
Can we please have a 1/16 Churchill?
Did u have problem to fit metal barrel?
Looks like a great kit!
Do you have Australian out let or do I need to order from you directly
Is the gun cradle in one piece? From the video it seemed so, just want to be sure, as this a major issue with most german WWII open vehicles.
I love the nashorn so much
Thank you.
Another grezt kit review Andy, WWII not my main interest but I could be VERY TEMPTED, best regards from Australia 👍👍👍👍👍
On my gosh awesome model 👍👍👀👀
Look great, but the correct pronunciation is Naas-horn.
Nice one Andy👍🇳🇿

I agree with you on border needing to check their sources more. Their T-34/76 was pretty much a ripoff of AFV club and Crusader of Italeri,

hey andy do you ship internationally? ie to Asia
Did the Japanese tanks have "jerry cans"?
No, they were using fuel drums. Which is weird since Germans shared lots of their technology with Japanese, so one would expect something basic like jerry can would transfer too.
@@randomnickify 55 GALLON?
@@TiberiusMaximus Most likely, you can see them strapped to the back of the tanks on some photos, looks like standard size drums.
Builds?
can you ask Takom to make 1/16 Italian assault gun? I think its called Semovente
Which one ? There were the 75/18, 75/34, 75/46 and 105/26. Only the first 2 were made as plastic kits in 35th scale.
I want!
箱絵がええ👍
I've still got my 1/300 solid metal tanks for Allies and Axis armies including troops. I think they cost me 9p each.
Nice kit, but as usual, garbage Takom style instructions. What colours would I paint any detail parts of the fighting compartment? Border model don't tell you fig. Just like Takom. Im basically gonna have food and lodging paid for for a good while thanks to the military
I still am gonna need a 2nd job
Or 3rd
The barrel is so nice its almost shame to paint it.
Border is becoming one of the best co.
Beautiful!
