This is exactly the review I was looking for. Thank you SO much for making such a clear, informative video about these three machines! I know exactly which one I want now. The S7!
I have the S7 and couldn’t love it more. Thanks for the info for it. Have been sewing since age 10, this is only my 4th machine, so much better than my very old Kenmore(lasted 20 yrs), my Singer, first computerized and really awful Viking, which limited my sewing for 10 yrs. Janome has won me over forever!!
Love how Ann shows the differences between the machines, was very helpful in selecting my new machine, which is the Skyline S7. Thank you Ann, and Super Stitch!
Are you purchasing from a local dealer? If not, you can purchase the new Skyline S7 Anniversary Edition on our website. We have sold out of the original one. superstitch.com/product/janome-skyline-s7-ae-10705/ Both are great machines.
This is the best video i have seen yet that helps me 'unpack' my new skyline 7. You are great on camera, and anticipate the views we the viewer needs to be able to really 'get it'. Its a fabulous machine, and i learned at least 5 more things today!!!! You explain it soooo well. I am going to look for more of your videos. Hope you cover more topics in depth like inserting a zipper, more on free motion quilting, and popular accessories to get that compliment the machine. thanks soooo much! carolyn
This was extremely informative. I am a beginner sewer and I’ve just purchased the Janome 4300qdc. I think I will eventually graduate to the S7 as I progress. Thank you for this video!
Hey this was a very helpful video. I was researching a new machine and trying to find places to help me choose which machine would work best with my needs and you have the most informative video. You showed possible ideas i might want to do. I have a way lower model Brother that has caused me to not want to sew because of frustrations easily solved by this one. I am sold on this line.
This is the most informative review I've seen on the skyline series yet. I've been looking at this series for awhile now. Thank you for describing the differences between the three. It was extremely helpful.
Good choice! The s7 is a great machine and a great value. If you don't have a local dealer you can purchase here.superstitch.com/product/janome-skyline-s7/
I own a Bernette B77. And I had done some research on sewing machines. Gosh I wish I had seen some of these videos on the skyline series, and what it can do, I would have gotten one. The Bernette is a good machine but it can do stuff that I never use, like use the foot peddle to cut stitches or raise and lower your presser foot. Now a plate that you can pop on and off that you can’t break a needle with( because it won’t let you) that I could use. Love the accufeed system that in itself is worth the money!
Very clear comparison of these 3 machines. At the store I ordered my new S6 at, they didn’t have an S7 to show me. Now I think I want that. Fortunately this shop, Delaware Sewing Center allows upgrading machines within first 12 months of original purchase. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for your always very informative video!!!!! Yes, I am very interested in the Skyline series, specially the S9 because of the added Embroidery function. Quilting is for me a secondary use. But what I found very informative here was as you told in a previous comment at an S9 video, is the Variable Zig Zag function, although you used it in the context of Quilters, and not as for Free Motion Embroidery, that is the main reason for search for this video. But now that I have seen it, I will finish saving so I can get one S9 from my local dealer. They know the function exists, but they do not know how to manipulate for Free Hand Embroidery. But an old friend of mine who does FreeHand Embroidery with an old JUKI LZ-271 will teach me how, and with practice I will use it!!!! Thanks again!!!!!!!!
I loved this tutorial. I have my S7 with all it's wonderful features but you truly have opened my eyes to so many of the features I wouldn't have tried. I was wondering though how and for what reason there is a USB port in the side.
The S7 includes the Stitch Composer program that you install on your computer that allows you to create your own stitches. You save them to a USB stick and import them into the machine. The USB port also allows you to update the machine if/when an update is released.
I would suggest increasing foot pressure and stitch length and using the Acufeed foot. If you want to call I can try to help over the phone. A few questions. What fabric are you sewing, what thread, needle, foot and machine settings? I have successfully sewn through quite a few layers. A customer just made a jelly roll quilt on her S6.
@@SuperStitchSewing the fabric is cotton. I am trying to sew pillow cases. I used a universal needle, a Jean needle and the thread I use is Guiterman. The only time it messes up is when I sew through the last seam that has the band, body and top. It isn't that thick, but the thread under the seam balls up. I have an appointment to take it to the dealership where I bought it. They think it could be the feed dogs are not high enough. I hope that is the issue because it is extremely frustrating. Thanks for getting back to me
The best video I have seen on these machines - thank you so much. I am interested in the S7, the Juki DX7, the Juki TL-2200 and the Memory Craft 6700P. I really would like a machine that can cope with going up and over bulky seams maintaining a consistent stitch length. Do you know if the S7 would be able to do this as well as the other machines I have mentioned? Because of the pandemic I am unable to go and try the machines for myself. Many thanks.
Yes the S7 will handle bulky seams. The 6700P has even more power but it is currently backordered. I am also currently out of S7's but I have more being shipped to me. The Continental M7 and the HD9 would also be great for bulky seams. Both are available.
I want to change machines and after watching at least 20 videos, it's really yours that shows me the differences for the Skyline 6-7 or 8 series. It's very informative, without too much "blabla". You show us the functions well. I liked it a lot and it will help me make my choice. The only thing I miss is knowing if it passes the thicknesses well. My Brother A150 does not have the right pressure to pass fabric, faux leather and foam and the motor is too weak. It's too thick to make a nice seam and it makes very small stitches. That's the only thing I miss in your video. I would have liked to know the strength of the motor. Thank you for your explanations and if you can answer my question, that would be great.
Cathy, My employee just finished a jelly roll rug on the Skyline. The series all have the same motor and handles all weights of fabrics. The Acufeed is especially helpful when feeding multiple layers.
I have been looking for a demonstration of the differences between the three S5, S6, and S7. I look to several, and had many questions unanswered, YOUR description of the three machines is amazing!! through, clear and complete, thank you so very much, now I know what I want. S7. If you could be so kind as to direct me to where to purchase it I will be so thankful.
Hi, the S7 is an in store dealer only model. You can visit Janome.com and check the dealer locator to find a dealer close to you. Just tell them Ann from Super Stitch sent you! 😉
Fantastic information. Best informative video of the skyline models. I am a garment sewist and on the fence if I really need to upgrade. After this watch, I see there are indeed features that would enhance my sewing game. I dig it.
@@SuperStitchSewing I use a walking foot for sewing knits that shift about. Showing the walking foot for garment applications would be fun to see, as I think many only know it for quilting. That zipper foot for the AcuFeed could be a game changer for garment sewists. Any features helpful for garment sewing, bring it on.
You can find all the features of the S7 and more on the Janome 9450 with an 11" throat or the Continental M7 with a 13.5" throat. Both machines also include the HP plate and foot that I mention in my needle plate video.
The S7 looks like such a great machine with all the extra features added to it. Although they might seem like we wouldn't use them, I'm sure once we do, we'll wonder how we did it without them 🤔
A great review of the S lines. I have the S7 and feel a little intimidated. She was a great instructor. Wish my Grand Rapids, MI store gave intense lessons.
