With the passing of Harlan, I've already seen a bunch of people saying he was a racist. I'm starting to develop that same love and hate relationship with the human race that you had, Mr. Ellison.
Harlen Ellison, you constantly amaze me. You didn't just write of the human experience, you were THERE. Thanks for being there, but more than that, thanks for writing about it. :)
Slight problem: when I typed the web address referred to on this video, I was automatically linked to the Café Press site where Harlan's latest releases are posted. In order to currently buy The Essential Ellison, I HAVE to order it on Amazon or BN.com or any number of online booksellers that won't forward to payment to Harlan. I welcome a suggestion regarding how to "cut out the middle man" as Harlan requested on this post.
The black Americans always had equal rights, but the law was applied as it suited the administrations of the states. By creating rights for black Americans, there has been an explosion in the growth of self-interest groups and their claims to extraordinary rights. Instead of greater equality, we now have many more divisions and unnecessary complications.
+Charles Smyth That's a flat out lie. Blacks always had equal Rights??? How dare you state such! Rights are not extraordinary, they are just, simply, Rights. Rights they had to march for, with guns pointed at them.
America was a country where blacks were property by law. It's a country where blacks were counted as only 3/5 of person. It is a country that had segregation by law and where blacks were legally allowed to die if a white only hospital wanted to refuse to treat them. You're out of your mind if you think blacks in America have always had the same rights as whites, or if you think they have extraordinary rights now.

Imagine calling the guy that marched with the doc for the rights of his fellow man racist.
Never seen that. The most ive seen is pointing out him having problems with women.

Josh Olson, all the gratitude in the world for filming these.
Once in a while the good don't die young. I hope Harlan lives as long as possible.
"i have a good heart, & fuck th' lot of ya" hahahahahahahaha
This man is marvelous. I want to listen to him talk about anything, anything and everything.
This is so damn great. Thank you for sharing your memories and opinions, Harlan!!!
I wish more kids my age knew about Harlan Ellison. He's a great role model!
Harlan is the BEST writer. He has also stood up personally for issues he cares about.
Goodness, that's an awful lot of Poe back there.
RIP Harlan. Thank your for your brilliance and your heart.
Those of us who grew up with you in our lives are better for it.
Odds are you won't be missed and then yet again that will prove you right.
Thank you for sharing Harlan!
As a listener I abhor HE feeling the need to self censor for anyone.
"...will indicate I have a good heart and- fuckthelotofya." needs to be on a T-Shirt.
I love you Harlan , you dont hold nothing back :)
If you're going to talk about a serious matter, sometimes you have to open with a joke
...Wonderful and Awesome!...It would also seem that Harlan Ellison and I have a Brother in Common...
George Wallace was the governor Ellison was talking about.
He does have a good heart, and fuck the lot of us.
the sibling likeness w.smilodon is uncanny
August 24th, 1992 was the date Hurricane Andrew struck South Florida.
Harlan Ellison. My hero.
I love how Harlan forgets his promise not to say the "N"-word about 5 seconds after he says it.
Harlan is mis-remembering here. The March on Selma was in 1965, the Black Panthers were founded in 1966. He must be thinking of the Nation of Islam.
I think he means Gov. George Wallace, now deceased. May he NOT rest in peace.
2013-50 =
But where do we buy your audio books?
at 3:16 he recounts woman saying the full N-Lover

Why the family members?
The governor was George Wallace.
***** No.
Love you, Harlan, you missed
The the N word is used as a quot i dont mind it
"That's not one of ours" - that's an actual example of white privilege.
You did use the N word.
I don't think anyone's going to mind, though.
+KarasuNoGoh The Ns freely use the N word. But because the Ns now have extraordinary rights, they're special.
+Charles Smyth See, you on the other hand, i'm pretty sure plenty people would mind.

Really? Always? Since they do not seem to have them now, when will this start?
The United States is a nation of laws: badly written and randomly enforced.

A jew who marched for civil rights and rants about how much he hates political correctness. Did he ever actually pick a side?
