Jimmy actually refers to Rivers younger brother Leaves. They both chose more common first names (as opposed to Rivers and Leaves) to go by in school to fit in better as they were taunted and bullied a lot. So he literally wrestled with his brother, (and turned on the tele) in attempts to avoid thinking about the bottle of alcohol (heiny- short for heineken) he just saw in the fridge. Seeing it resulted in a fear and panic that his step dad would soon be leaving as his actual father did, soon after drinking. So in his mind, first is drinking next is being abandoned. Google weezerpedia say it ain't so, it's all there and more details.
