First thought was “this is waaay too early for an April Fools prank, even from the Wide Boyz”. Glad this is real. A lot of thought went into this design.
CANNOT WAIT TO DO SOME CLIMBING IN MY BATHROOM!
Built a very similar styled wall on my garden, just slightly taller and in 35 degrees. I am so happy with it. When you fill all the space with regular to bad holds the low height won't matter, you can perform very old school strong style moves.
A short vid where you guys have a tough session on the mini board would be good to show people what it’s capable of 😊

Could you make a 5th option to only buy the frame ? makes across the pond shipping a lot cheaper a just reduces a lot of the fuss.

Agreed. I've got the woodworking skills and tools to cut and t-nut some plywood, but I don't have the metalworking skills to build that frame. The wood would be a nice-to-have, but the frame is a real value to me.

Super rad! Undoubtedly will appeal to quite a bit of climbers looking to keep sharp during the pandemic. I'd 100% be interested if I hadn't built one at home myself

Its a bit short for cracks maybe? Just buy some of their cracks and bolt them to the outside of your house OR ... dismantle your stairs and put cracks in in their stead!

The only thing I could see to make this better would be an adjustable angle variant. And having the website be up, but that's an easier change and quite obvious.But this is very tempting, excellent design.
only problem I have with adjustable angles is that they are quite often kind of wobbly and not so sturdy
@@genso877 Yes, but that depends on the hinge design. A 90° arc plate with holes and some thick pins (not bolts, bolts aren't meant for shear) could be quite sturdy.

Been in the metal works industry for few years and i love you're channel, am a sheff local and been following your years, but really cant get my head around those price mark ups seem crazy :(
Luckily I have a garage, so plywood holds for me and my daughter and we can have some fun climbing there. Now just waiting for the winter to be over, -20C and bare hands dont mix well

My first thought - put a bed underneath to save space and have a free fall cushion.

Wild Boyz = Wild Price. But the wall looks really good.
For *outside placement* there might be a slight problem of water gathering on the backside, which could ultimately destroy the nice wooden part of the wall. For this case you might want to think about adding an option for a BACKSIDE COVER.
Another option for outside placement (and for people with VERY tall rooms) might be an EXTENSION of the wall to basically double the height, BUT this obviously needs to be secured ... by adding a small horizontal bit to "lean / fix it to a wall" at the top.
The steel beams look really solid and would probably hold such an extended height (or maybe two) ... but the mats would probably have to be a bit thicker.

How did you end up with a price so high for 4 sheets of plywood and a couple of steel bars?? Awesome idea for a board on the other hand. I know price probably reflects the engineering behind it but that price doesn't even make sense to consider buying it. Still wish you success in this project!

Great concept and execution, but out of my price range. :( Why not create two different angle pieces for both the 20 degree and 40 degree that could slot into the kickboard upright, allowing them to be interchangeable? It might not be an every day sort of interchangeable, but would make it possible to switch it up every now and then.

I've already got a 15 row board set out to Moon specifications. What are the dimensions of this wall and how much for just the holds? Are they available separately? Will you be developing an app to work with the wall?
Hi Paul, the dimensions can be found on the downloadable specification sheet on this page wideboyz.com/freestanding-wall/
The holds aren't sold seperately, just with the wall. but they are Tension holds, so that would be your go too place if you want those specific holds. however depending what country you are from it might not be possible to get the specific set we have for our wall. The wall doesn't have a specific set like the moonboard, but we might head down that route in the near future
Could you also sell Climbing holds seperatly that would be amazing.
They're very -- very, very -- similar to holds from Tension Climbing. Hold availability is spotty, maybe for the covid rush.

its just not affordable for 90% of your community. i understand that it cost a lot of money to produce and so on, but its just too expensive in my opinion. her in my town its equal to 10 years entry fees for boulder/ climbing halls or 3 years of fees for all halls in my region. i guess u get my point.

Does the movement of the board itself affect climbing when you go to the limit?
suggestion: figure how to make the pads work as a couch and you'll make it a lot easier for people to justify having it in their living rooms haha

It looks nice, but you could build this for ~$300. I really don't really understand why this and similar frames are so expensive. It's not a complex design. Is the price of steel that high?
custom steel frame and realy good holds + back wall but yeah i own a cheeper diy wall
@@lorenz6746 your response is unintelligible. Those wood holds are worth maybe $300. But I wasn't talking about the holds. The frame and panels can be bought for $300 and put together by a person with no carpentry experience and a drill. Lol.
