Caught the Eurorack bug about three years ago. Changes are inevitable when you're into it. What an infinity! So much fun learning and making new patches. The set playing at the beginning, dig it! And you got an impressive stack there. My newest rack is 4.2 inches across, mostly dual-path, all TEN modules with one 3 HP VCF. I'm a sub and I wanna learn more! Thanks for being there for us!
Great video! Thanks for the shout (and the shirt)! I’m so glad the stars aligned and me buying a couple of modules led to you playing out and becoming an important member of our little scene. You’ve been a great source of knowledge and inspiration (besides just being a really cool person to hang with), and your sets have been fantastic! Looking forward to what comes next!
I see some of my favorite modules in your setup (esp Surface)...glad you could re-acquire some gear!! 🙌 The Doepfer A-180-9 modules fur using RJ45 cables to link cases are a life-saver for me too, nice to see them getting the spotlight for a bit! I like to use them even at home when I need a long multi-CV cable run....
Thank you so much! Surface is a fav for me too! Im cooking up a patch with it for the next video, And I think I’m going to do a video on the patch bay soon too! Thanks for stopping by! 🙏
2024's been difficult for a lot of people. I'm building a rack with Behringer's clones of Plaits, Maths, Marbles, Blades, and the Quad VCA because it would cost me two and a half times as much to buy the originals. Gotta do what ya gotta do.
Just started my journey only got 3 modules so far & haven’t even got a case!, determined to keep it small but can already see how that’s easier said than done. It really is nick-named ‘eurocrack’ for a reason 🤦🏻 be warned! Best of luck with your channel ☘
The Doepfer Cat-cable patchbay modules are great! I actually screwed one into my racked mixer rack case. So instead of connecting 4 voices and two fx-sends and returns between my 6U rack and my mixer rack with 8 different Jack>MiniJack cables, I only need to patch óne Cat8 cable 🤯
Patch bay would be great for a very large case or multiple cases where you have a big space or synth inbetween where cables would be getting in the way, or requiring very large cable lengths you wouldnt normally use but, for this setup, I just watched you use 2 cables to make a connection you could have easily done with the 1 cable alone.
Good point on the large case. And yes i intentionally used the patch bay to use it…this is 2 cases, hypothetically if i was patching for a performance i would need to be able to carry the 2 cases independently. It’s for traveling purposes in my case, not shorter patch cables…
doepfer modules are incredible, they just dont care about marketing, same philosophy as their modules : simple and cost-effective... thats why you dont see them being shilled that mmuch online :D
Nice setup. Regarding the A180-9, in my experience I couldn't rely on it for live performance. Too often times I did experience bad connexions. I changed cables but the issue remained so I stoped using them. Great for you if you didn't experience any issue. Some eurorack modules use HDMI connexions for the same purpose, but I think the most reliable patch bay in eurorack fromat might be ADDAC213A Eurorack Bridge and ADDAC213B. They are next on my buying list. Cheers.
That’s an excellent point, I did hear about the reliability of the connections as well, I heard it came down to the quality of the cat8 cables, but if you changed cables than it’s something else, sorry that didn’t work out for you! I’m also careful not to roll up those cables so they don’t have as much opportunity to break. It might be worth having some spares in my bag tho!! The ADDAC one looked great but I didn’t have the HP for it. The deopfer was smaller than addac and had more inputs than octalink, thank you so much for this comment and for stopping by! 🙏🤘
@@NoiseToMost The quality of the cable may have been the issue and touching the cables while performing also. As far as I know those cable are reliably used in many situations like the Pioneer CDJs and for connecting MIDI controllers like Faderfox series'. Maybe my unit wasn't perfect... Cheers
Subbed! Awesome setup. I've recently embarked on my 3rd time coming back journey into modular. Curious, did you buy your Starlab 2nd hand? Would love to add it to my intellijel 7U case
It’s a great module, i use it mainly as my secondary to help add to the sequences I’m doing in metropolix, but have used it as my main many times and know it can do so much!
I am from germany , don’t know if it actually make sense to ask if u have left some modules ? For selling I mean. I go modular now and I need some cool modules to start with…. Can u help me? I really don’t know what I need and I’ve got some modules from Behringer yet , but …. Only a hand full…. So if u send to Germany….
Unfortunately I don’t have anything I’m letting go. But starting small if the best way. I started with a 60hp case. Best way to get a feel for what you want to buy is download VCV Rack for free and experiment there first, then you can make more informed purchases because you’ll know what you are looking for! Thank you for commenting! Good luck and happy patching! 🙏
Totally agree, I think that if you are starting from zero with a case that can hold 1u, then it makes more sense. When you have a bunch of modules already, switching some of the to 1u just to fit the form factor just isn’t appealing to me. I was lucky that I had some decent modules where turning them sideways didn’t take away from their usability too much.

Thanks so much for this thoughtful comment! Glad you're enjoying the journey! Keep patching!
So good to see the progress man. That’s a lot of punch packed in right there! :D
Thank you so much! So far I love it, haven’t gotten the itch to change it up yet!

Dave!! Thank you so much 🙏 and thanks for all the help this year! I can’t wait to get the modular club off the ground!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Great setup!
Thank you!🤘
@@NoiseToMost you're very welcome! I was on the fence about getting a Beads, and your video definitely persuaded me to get one! It's Amazing!
Lovely work on this Domi !
Thank you! 🙏 🤘
You just got 1 new sub. Thank you for your awesome video. :)
Thank you so much! 🤘🙏👨🏻🚀
I love that we all go through these “rack phases”. So glad im not alone in this absolute chaos that is modular 😂
Absolutely! I am pretty happy with it right now but for how long 🤔😂

That Doepfer multicore is awesome!

I hear you I also mentioned Octalink and ADDAC patchbays too, I don’t see a ton of content on any of them.

You mentioned Hartford are you in Connecticut? I’ll have to catch you live next time if that’s true!
Heck yeah dude! I have been playing in New London a lately, would be cool to say hi!

Thank you so much! I have had Starlab pretty much since it came out, I had Darksky and knew that I wanted that in modular, it’s a great reverb!
I wish those CAT jacks were on the back side of the modules
I know right!?!? I’m not crazy about how they look but the function is too useful!
The Varigate Four Plus is my main sequencer and I love it!
It’s a great module, i use it mainly as my secondary to help add to the sequences I’m doing in metropolix, but have used it as my main many times and know it can do so much!
dupfer sounds closer to doepfer than 'dopefer' btw.
🥱

I'm not a fan of 1U... most of the time, like here, is just used to mount normal modules rotated 90....

personally i wouldn't be found dead wearing shorts and a baseball cap but there's no accounting for (amurican) taste
