Right after he withdrew the cursed king sword the archmage dude let him know about a special dungeon that if beaten gives a special awakening stone which leads to greater power than the regular awakening at level 30. In the dungeon after beating it the hidden dungeon was unlocked and he came face to face with a weakened remnant of the demon king. During the fight, the king could only use curse abilities so he was immune, but the demon king was too fast to be beaten. It's important to note that his inventory was locked and he could not escape during this time and since the demon king needed him alive to resurrect and he wouldn't betray mankind to become an abyss demon, he signed a contract with Aridis (the demon king) to escape. The contract states that Aridis admits defeat in exchange of 50% of his experience being taken by Aridis until he reaches level 70.
