Finding the Venus Pools, Maui - Should you Visit the Waioka Pond in Hana Maui?

While Exploring the Backwaters of the Hana Highway in Maui, Hawaii, we decided to check-out the controversial Venus Pool, or Waioka Pond as it is properly called.
The pools are on Private property but at the time of the Visit the signs suggested access was tolerated. the trail was rough, slippy, and had the potential for disaster, and the Pool is a direct flash flood run-off.
The water is cold, murky, and filled with "stuff" including potentially Lepto Bacteria!
However it's very popular for people to hunt out? Why, well there is the "Blue Book" the sense of adventure, and the fact it's undeniably beautiful.
But is it worth it? If you have the FOMO are you actually missing out, here is the real situation in this Video.

This is actually a flash flood corridor. Be aware people have died here due to huge flash floods that race down the mountain- there is little to no warning- and as you can see you would have to climb up a cliff to escape. Not worth it, there are many more beautiful spots to explore.

Yeah we agree and we say as much in the Video. But if people are aware and take appropriate precautions, it's up to them really.

Head up WAIOKA pond is very nice but could be very dangerous dues to the flash floods stream coming down the mountain. To enjoy your stay like we did . We stayed at HANAPAPALANI Airbnb right across the street and every morning we crossed Hana HWY and walked to the pond no one is there at 6am until 8am so it’s yours for you ❤❤❤

Hi, we agree there are risks and dangers around Flash Flooding, that we mention in the video and the description. It's not to be ignored and rain many miles away can turn the pond into a dangerous torrent at a moments notice.
There is also the treacherous hike in, Lepto, underwater detritus, and the powerful ocean. It's a dangerous spot in a exceptionally remote location. Not to be underestimated just as it's beautiful.
