Well, Darren. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry. What conditions! I didn't perceive it as dangerous. It seemed that the worst that could happen would be to get totally wet and you had already said that the car was nearby. In spite of everything, you got some good shots. I liked the first swirly-water-around-the-rock shot.
Hi Deb’s, I hope you’re well. It’s a beautiful beach, but it’s being destroyed by the sea. The cliffs are crumbling and the houses are getting closer to the edge. It’s a great place to photograph but I wouldn’t want to live there 😂
Mate it was fun you battling with the sea. Like the sea snot as well I got it the other week at whitby a face full haha. Like the wave shots nice light
GUYS, PLEASE READ THIS! Based on a few of the comments it seems you were concerned for my safety (bless you), but let me explain. I probably had enough footage to make 2 videos from that one shoot, but as the audio was so poor, I had to loose 90% of the video shot that day and settle with 1 video. Even with only one video, it was heavily edited due to the audio quality. If I could have shown you the un-edited version, you would have seen me talk about how unsafe the opposite end of the beach was and how I wasn’t comfortable in shooting at the far end (which I didn’t venture to). You would have also seen me talk about how close I was to the ramp (where you enter and exit the beach) and when the wave crashed over my boots, it looked liked I was trapped, but I was only a minutes walk to the ramp, with a good 8-10ft of beach untouched by tide. When I say “I’m getting cut off” 8-10ft is getting cut off to me (even though it’s only a minutes walk) Please understand I’d never put myself at serious risk for a photo or video, I love my family far to much to do anything so silly. Again, it was all down to restricted editing. Now with regards to the out takes, you’ll notice in most of the clips I wasn’t wearing my head torch, that’s because those clips were shot a good hour and 1/2 after hide tide. When I walked through the foam, the tide was receding, but I still didn’t feel safe and so I turned back (you never saw that in the video) Again, please do not think I don’t respect the sea or the danger it can bring with it. If you guys follow my channel on a regular basis, you’d know my personality by now and you’d know I’m not a risk taker (watch my video “know when to quit” or next weeks video at Pin Mill, where I get nervous in 8” inches of water) 😂 Anyway, thanks for watching and for your continued support, but I’m now off to the pub. Have a great weekend everyone Cheers 🍺🍺
I had a recent tripod vs wind episode too. Unfortunately it cost me £900+ in camera repairs - ouch! Since then, I always keep close, or hold on, to my gear in windy conditions. Talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted :)
Brilliant! You make me laugh, so glad you kept them in as it shows the hard work that goes into getting great pictures & doing a vlog at the same time.
😂😂😂 À face full of foam. Sorry, but that was a laugh out loud moment. Glad you got through it OK and stayed safe. I loved the waves on the rocks images. My kind of photos. Well done Darren on another classic.
Great vlog as expected. The occasional audio issues are a reality in situations like this and it doesn’t ruin the video so no worries. I hate getting wet but I would have risked it as you did in order to get those images. Really loved those shots at the beginning with the receding tide and the shots around 5:05-5:20 are brilliant. Thanks for including “foamgate”! 😊 Cheers, mate.
Cheers Jeff, I spent 4 hours trying to put the Vlog together and almost gave up due to audio problems. I went back to the PC the following day and scrapped the original and came up with this one. Glad you liked it mate 👍
Made me laugh out loud, thanks Darren. Heading that way next week, but it will be such an anti climax if I get ‘normal’ weather , keep it up, these in the back catalogue are great
Stumbled across your station by chance, have now caught up on all your vlogs and I must say I have enjoyed everyone of them.
