I have recently bought a maxi dress in a print that suits me and in my colours. I do not normally wear dresses but I have found it very versatile. I have worn it so much in many different ways using what I have already. It can take from beach with sandals and straw bag to a wedding with white jacket ,heels and clutch...dinners out with black blazer..great for holidays. I also add long boots and a black roll neck in winter. I have something for every occasion in one garment...but didn't know that until after I bought it. Great video as per usual. Thanks.
I'd really never thought much about shapes and lines of clothing, so I found the first section of this video especially interesting. And I always really appreciate your excellent visuals. They are always extremely helpful!
I love your videos Sheila!!! The advice about shape and lines of clothing was fascinati ng!!!! I try to mix and match all the time!! Your advice is so helpful!! I am very petite at 4 ft 11 ins. Shoe size european 34!!!! Iam 68 years old. I find your advice so practical!! Thank you.
Wow! Thank you for a most timely reminder about colour temperature, and how this applies to all garments in an outfit. With my light spring skin tone, I find low contrast dressing works best for me, and that outfits really pop when a third colour is added. And while it seemed easy to be hijacked by a great pair of perfect-fitting black leather trousers, I realised when I got them home, they weren't compatible with anything in my wardrobe. My perfect "black" is either French navy or chocolate, which showcases the bright spring colours I wear next to my face. However, having bought those trousers to wear to a function, I was determined to make 'em work! Add on a tuxedo style shirt, sky high heels and my (now) carrot coloured hair, heads certainly turned that night, and I felt rather defiant (naughty 71 year old!), however this outfit is now an orphan in solitary confinement in my wardrobe. I'm not sure about the hair! Thank you so much Sheila.
One of the best videos I saw about styling! So helpful! I just realized most of my clothes are custom pieces and this is why I resort to dresses so frequently, so I don’t have to match my clothes 👏👏👏👏 Fantastic content!
As always, great information! Your tips really make it much easier to be more confident when making buying choices thus making it easier to dress for any occasion! Thank you for sharing!
I learn something on every one of your videos. I decided to download the color guide. I love color. And I live in a wam climate. I’m very casual. I wear shorts and t shirts everyday. I have dresses and skirts in my closet. And I may wear one when we take my five year old granddaughter her birthday present. She loves wearing dresses. So that’s exactly what I bought her. I know her favorite color is pink. So I bought her a pink dress with white polka dots. And other dresses. A denim jumper with a bright pink t shirt. I know she will love all the dresses. We can dress up together. I would be cooler in a dress than shorts and a t shirt. I’m going to try to figure out my colors. I feel like I can wear anything but brown. My skin color or hair has changed and brown is not a color I own. I don’t have very many black t shirts. I have an over abundance of white tees. I wear them all summer. It’s so much cooler to reflect the sun than to draw it into your shirt. I wore a darker gray one the other day. And realized I had made a mistake. But I left it on until the end of the day. It won’t be coming out of the closet until it gets cooler.
I'm happy you getting value from my videos and I hope the colour guide helps. If you're paying attention to the colours you're wearing you'll figure it out.
Hi Sheila, always a reminder and teaching video on what I should be doing better. I have learned so much since I began watching your videos. Thanks so much!
Great video Sheila. I love a longer teaching video. Color temperature is so important and not having too many different colors in my closet really helps. I have a few neutrals and my colors are pink, blue, green, and 1-2 red blouses.
Love watching your videos.🤩 I especially got a light bulb moment of dressing for the different occasion categories. 💡 Great tips as always. 😍 Watching from Ireland. 🇮🇪
Like the info on non matching stuff! If I buy an unusual garment, I do think….how can I wear this? What can I wear it with? I have been so tempted this spring by a colourful Scandinavian site with sort of boho stuff. However…..it is pricey (and in USD), if you buy several layers and I don’t need to spend the money. So instead, I intensified my trench coat search and got a really nice quality M&S black knee length for a really good price. Haha! Another thing off my wish list! It is not a Burberry but I don’t have 2 K to spend for a coat. Enjoy your videos. I always find something. You show examples and explain why things work or don’t. Very helpful. I am longer waisted so can have issues with some items.
We get can get caught up in the shopping experience (some of us) which makes it very easy to buy things that don't match anything we own. I learned that in my teenage years when I would end up with items I loved, nothing that matched them and not enough money to buy stuff to match.🙂
The cloths must fit the shoes for me …. Especially since I have such a difficult time finding shoes in my small size. Shoes are the icing on the fashionable cake
My most difficult thing to dress for is date night. Not fancy, just nice things to go to dinner with. And my shoes never look right, this was a timely video.!!
I need more casual clothing, however whenever I shop I'm drawn to more formal work/church clothing. I have to be very mindful or I wind up with more of what I don't need in my closet.
What's your biggest mix and match challenge?
Usually when I come home I tend to dive into my comfy pjs.
As a result I am lacking in basic leisure wear. 🤣🤣

Yes, shoes are the icing on the cake.🙂

So true! Yes, it's easy to be pulled to 'shiny objects' when we shop. You're right, mindfulness is key.
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant video, many thanks
