    My thoughts on enduring sickness and making it to the other side. Really enjoying making these.
    I’m not exactly sure what “style” I’m going for with these but someone in the comments of the first ep said it was like watching a visual diary and I really connected with that description.
    I release these early on Patreon, if you’d like to support what I do: www.patreon.com/LewSpears?

    This is actually surprisingly eye opening for my own perspective as someone who was sick with cancer for a long while, its crazy having your ability restored to a point you had forgot existed. . . I literally didn't recognize for a while that I could do something like a join a friendly game of sport or try certain mentally intensive things because they had been shut off from being possible for me for so long. I like to explain it like a super advanced form of body dysmorphia, like mentally where my limits are set are so so far off from what I am actually capable of now. It'd be like if you could snap your fingers and heal someone with an unusable limb, it'd still take them quite a while to mentally adjust from their prior constant view of reality, part of the frame working suddenly disappearing is really fuckin tough to adjust to, and I feel like that's something I'm baffled nobody is studying. Glad to see you've reclaimed your freedom brother, and try not to ever lose that gratefulness that being bedridden gives you! Being able to feel happy you've made it out of bed makes everything else a huge bonus and a blessing, rather than the perspective of burn out where anything less than an 18 hour day isn't good enough!
    P.S: That clip of you hyperventilating and having to lay down after getting dressed gives me shivers up my spine lmao I'LL NEVER GO BACK, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!
    Nevermind I have more I wanna say! That compassion for younger self once you're better is absolutely massive as well, like I think its a powerful tool for making peace with oneself and like freeing yourself of the regret of everything you've done in the past, because now you have the hindsight to see what you were really going through. I remember at the time feeling a lot of shame when I first got sick, because I had no idea of the severity of what I was undertaking, I only had the context of the path. It was only once you're out the other side that you can look back and almost admire the fortitude you didn't know you had throughout that time, a kind of fight or flight blindness overtaking your mentality, stopping you from seeing the before and the soon to be after you will inevitably reach eventually, making the process not so bad. The worst of anything major like this is not knowing the outcome, not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!
    When you're all alone in the darkness and there's nothing to guide your forward, it really can seem hopeless, even if you're right next to the door. - Me
    P.S.S: Nice work bringing the philosophical awakening down to nerd level with a fuckin weighted goku reference btw.
    I think this is actually a really great collection of my thoughts when first getting sick and that sort of euphoria or contentedness I felt then, I think I'll have to come back to this from time to time because the appreciation fades over time, keep it up Lew

I think this level of introspection and in particular life experiences give such a powerful boon to people that can create immense positive change in the world by sharing this perspective, its personally something I'm trying to tap into myself, and I hope to see you do the same! Lewis, I don't know if this is more fitting for the podcast or the vlogs, but it could be really interesting if you told us of any dreams you may remember now that you see them again.
    Also some dream tips now that it also matters again;
    You will most likely not remember your dream if you wake up on your own instead of to an alarmclock (or just getting out of bed as soon as you're awake).
    Your dreams will be in the last language you spoke before sleeping.
    It is NEVER worth extending your sleep to see the end of your dream, partially due to aforementioned.

    i think the thing about your recovery is that your body is recovered, but your mind is still adjusting to how active you’ve become, so take it easy, and let your mind adjust to it.
    also, you don’t need to wash your chicken.

    I really like the style you’ve gone for with this vlog, it’s very introspective without losing that personal touch of Lew. If you’re interested it reminds me a lot of Christopher Bingham’s Past Bing Future Bing series (PBFB) here on youtube where he takes vlogs on the same day a year apart, one after watching the other, and posts them at the same time. He’s done it multiple times on different channels so you might have to switch around if you end up rabbit holing the series but otherwise, yeah, I really like what you’ve been making so far, it’s uniquely you, and special in that right.

    I know outwardly you were saying that the surgery would help, but was there a part of you that worried that it wouldn't fix it? Feels so scary because sure your fixing something physical, but the problem is a mental thing, right? like the exhaustion, were you worried it would fix the apnea, but you'd still just feel exhausted anyway? I think that made sense

    • @LewTwo
      @LewTwo  10 месяцев назад +3

      I did a lot of research on the surgery and even though it looks scary it's a super simple fix and vast majority of people report a huge positive difference, it'snot something complex like cancer or a disease that might work or might not, just a space issue. Move jaw + move tongue + widen air way so I wasn't worried about it not working once I understood how it worked and read about other peoples experiences.
      I did however worry a lot at the time about how much of my inability to work a full day was due to my illness and what was due to me being lazy or easily distracted etc, or that because I was in the habit of resting all the time, working as little as possible etc that when I was well, I wouldn't be able to work as much as I used to.
      To an extent that was true, but it's certainly not permanentI am completely out of the habit of working, so am slowly ramping up responsibilities, routines and my workload until I hit a point of too much, then I pull back a little and sit there before pushing again.
      All part of the healing and building tolerance to working hard, so I don't think I had any legitimate reason to worry

    • @LewTwo
      @LewTwo  10 месяцев назад +2

      I still drink coffee but I’ve been having WAY less, I don’t need it to do anything like I used to, I couldn’t function without 2-3 a day, could drink some at 9pm and fall asleep straight after.
      Now I’m good to just have one as I write in the morning and that’s it, I had one at night and couldn’t fall asleep for hours which is unheard of for me so won’t be doing that again
