I got one of those 53 f100 it's 1 owner has only 70k with flathead v8. Truck is solid no rust. Wouldn't sell it for no amount. Those trucks were built well lots of steel.
They were a great feature. You could angle it so the air blew right on you, or close it slightly to exhaust sir, without the tumbling turbulence of modern cars.
My dad was involved in oil exploration in the 50’s, bought a 53 panel and converted it into a camper. The truck visited Canada to Mexico on job locations, no idea how many miles it had traveled. Steering gear box failed in 61, replacement not available. Only brakes and clutch had been replaced. She was a tough bugger.
That truck looks just like the '53 I drove to school in the late 60s. That trouble free flathead and low geared drivetrain wouldn't win a drag race, but I wish I had kept it after few years of marriage.
I had a '66 Chevy C10 like this-6 cyl/3 on the column, manual choke,1 speed wipers,no radio, power steering, manual brakes, not even a sun visor for the passenger. Awesome truck.
I wish the old school pickup trucks were the rage now instead of these NASCAR behemoths that you almost need a CDL to drive. Simple, affordable, comfortable and fun to drive. I would have no problem getting into one of these and driving all the old US routes coast to coast and border to border. Make mine sky blue just like the one in the add and watch out for the biggest smile going down the road
@@appalachiangunman9589 they're pretty close. The big thing about tundras though is how long the back seat area is in the crew cabs. Like if you're Shaq's height, I'm pretty sure you'd still have plenty of leg room. The extended cab tundras have about as much backseat room as a crew cab ram, so that makes them look even bigger. It doesn't help that the front end of them gets taller and flatter on the front each redesign. I can confirm that the current generation of tundras are bigger than a 2007 f250 4x4 crew cab, and the cab is actually longer on the tundra, but it'd be interesting to see a new Tacoma next to an old tundra, and then a new tundra next to an old tundra.
