Here are the 5 essential things to do before a cold snap, and one not so important!
The UK hit below freezing temperatures last week and these are the things we did to prepare.

Thank you for the update in the list of necessary steps to take in order to make it through the freeze as best you’re able. I’ve made it through our horrible wind, snow but less than predicted, at least where I live; and enough ice to cause me to think why do we have this as well!? My sons never lost their electricity, I’m thankful mine wasn’t off for more than about 23 hours, and that I could spend that time with my sons. I should be able to get up in the morning and ride the bus to work, I’m quite grateful to say. Y’all give each other a hug for me and cuddle up with Luna, please and thank you. Goodbye from over here in Portland, Oregon.

It's been very cold in my part of the US for about a week. Today is 25F and tomorrow 39F then into the mid-40s for about two weeks. I hope they are right! I just stayed in during the arctic blast. Planning ahead is definitely the answer.

So there's "fortuitous" supply of winter fuel and "planned" supply thereof. Do we distinguish adequately?
If you maximise the fortuitous then that’s good planning on our boat….

Are you using ECO washing up liquid ? Does it foam up ? As I will soon hopefully get a narrowboat
Hey Margaret, we use BioD washing up liquid. It doesn’t foam as much, but it gets things clean. Good luck with the new life! Xxx
