    I do live streams going through my collection and there's always one person that says "I can emulate your whole collection" and it's like..."what am I supposed to do with this info?" Some don't understand the joys of collecting physical media. There's a place for emulation and a place for physical. They can co-exist

      If something happened where I lost my physical collection, I would just go the Everdrive route and modify my disc consoles to play roms. That's a great way to play on original hardware with original performance.

    Very well stated points. I agree. You need to balance. I try to balance between buying and selling. Keeping the actual dollars spent versus dollars recouped at a good differential.
    Like you said also keeping it real. Why buy RPG's if you dont play them. I buy racing games and fps games. A fighter here and there. Thats it. No need to have everything. Be a curator. You dont eat what you dont like. Dont buy what you dont play.

    I don't think people understand collecting games, and it is unfortunate that the world we live in throws away items because it is not the "Newest Thing"
    I like having the games, just like people like to buy and collect DVDs. Video games is a piece of work and so much effort and imagination has gone into the game. I like it cause you are just not watching a movie but you are active and your brain is working to solve problems. It is actually brain exercise!! Some of these games have puzzles and require you to think. It is not just brainless fun, like watching movies!! I also like to own my collection and I know that I will always have it, not like what we see with the cloud. You pay for online games that can be easily removed. I believe that Y2K has hit the nail on the head, great commentary on collecting!! I would buy Y2K a beer and discuss game collecting!! This is a great channel, keep up the work!!

    • @b4rs629
      @b4rs629 5 месяцев назад

      I would say there is healthy good reason for both. :D
      I a rent a small room so I have to be cautious with what I collect. If I had the space... my walls would be covered lol.
      I mainly focus on tv shows / movies that are more niche and hard to come by / out of print
      Usually games that have a crap ton of dlc or don't have a physical release... I'll buy digitally. Simply because there is no other way to play it physically in it's complete form
      For example
      Age of Empires franchise
      Rust
      Borderland's pandora's box collection
      Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
      Sims 4
      Simcity 2013
      Children of the Sun
      Death Must die
      Palworld
      Satisfactory
      Railway Empires 1 + 2
      Or if the game is just way to expensive to buy it physically like Celeste is like $35 at target
      Or wait for a steam sale and pick it up for $2
      It basically comes down to a case by case basis for me.

    • @MaxRager80
      @MaxRager80 5 месяцев назад +1

      Very few games are truly "broken" so your point is invalid. I play all my games with no patches and 99% are playable to the end.

    • @xShibux
      @xShibux 5 месяцев назад +4

      He is right though. I would say the xbox360/ps3 generation was the last, where mainly finish products was released. You could play them right away from disc without installation or patching required. Games nowadays are shipped unfinished. Often requires a „day one patch“ or online connection for first installation, otherwise the game can’t be played. More often the full game isn’t even on the disc you bought, you have to download the rest during installation. So technically yes, the physical media you can buy right now, are all crap and worthless. Up to 360 I would say is fine and is worth collecting as a physical medium

    Collecting games 8th gen & onward is practically pointless since most consoles nowadays are practically low end PCs & most games released on modern consoles are also on PC. 7th gen is a bit shaky. Doesn't help that 7th gen console onward have became more & more dependent on day one updates overtime.

      Honestly, as a nintendo fan.
      Switch is still worth it in the sense that if you're into niche titles.. It's great collecting fun collecting and horrible if you're broke and if you ain't broke now... you will be. (Price wise)
      Most my switch collection is 1st party, Square Enix, Atlus, Sega, Xseed, Idea factory, Devolver digital.. etc
      I'd say it's still important to collect. I've been on pc for 16 years now, but these days I'm more into having physical games.
      I picked up a series x back in dec 2023. I've been recently picking up games at gamestops, fb marketplace, or second-hand shops from smaller businesses in my local area.
      1. Xbox one games are incredibly cheap like $3-10. I'd say currently you encounter 9/10 the games are $20 & under.
      I currently have 100 titles atm mostly xbox one ports, a couple 360 & series x titles.
      56/100 were which $10 & under.
      14/100 were $13-15
      20/100 were $16-$20 (most of them I found for $10 each though, but they usually go for around $15-20)
      6/100 were $25-$30 (new release, but pre-owned / sealed)
      2/100 were $40 (newer releases)
      2/100 were $50 (newer releases)
      1/100 was $60 (new release)
      1/100 was $70 (new release)
