Why this will never work: You made the lines and wrote with Permanent Marker, but as soon as you write over it with Whiteboard marker (which contains alcohol) the the permanent marker will begin to fade and be erased. Try automotive paint, those cheap scratch pens they sell at many DIY stores. Their paint is much more durable to alcohol and other solvents.
Also try to follow your friend's idea more: For the specifics that don't get changed during production (Dir, DoP, Prod. and so on), use masking tape and write on it with permanent marker. Only leave Roll, Scene, Slate, Take. Loved the FPS velcro idea!
