  • the Castle and Orchard on Salt Spring Island original orchard planted in 1884 by the Beddis Family. This is in my humble opinion the finest garden on Salt Spring Island. It is spectacular. It is very gracious that the owner opens her garden to the public on the Apple Festival. Video by Scott Simmons Salt Spring Island

Thanks for the video! I’ve been curious about that property for years, didn’t realize the grounds were open during Apple Fest! I also didn’t realize that, as a previous commenter said, the sign on the beach was actually illegal. I guess next time I’m at Beddis beach I won’t be scared to have a look at the rest of the shore!

Yeah the owner also concreted in a sign on the rocks in the tide water line that surround the castle in an attempt to claim this public land as private land. Not so gracious after all.
