Had some more audio clicks and shadow issues in this video - apologies - just noticed on for the lights had blown in the cave which was causing the extra shadows.
16:53 Hope you didn't throw away the original aluminium ipad enclosure. Some people managed fit the board inside the ipad case and reuse volume/power/home buttons for navigation. You might need to drill holes or have the entire board outside and just slot in the wires through the power port.
Dwayne Dibbley!!! Haven't heard that name in years! Looks like i'm heading to Netflix and watching me some Red Dwarf!! Also, great videos mate. I've 3 old ipads & I've been wondering if i could do anything with them instead of chucking them. Now you've given me the idea to research & make a screen for a raspberry Pi for on the go research.
Yeah. The digitiser connector is still there in the back of the screen. But would need the opposite socket and someone to work out an interface for it.
Give it a go. Make sure you get the exact panel model from the inside of your screen (don't rely on online specs) and then search for that model on Ebay or ali to find the correct card.
Something I was reading on the controller card listing implied it would work on iPad 4 if I recall correctly. But best thing is to crack your old iPad apart (assuming you dont use it for anything else first ) and look at the label and do an eBay search for that panel. I’m not sure if the iPad 4 has a glued in screen either so access might be different.
But I have so many screens and I would like to put one in a cyber deck inside of a pelican case I have and perhaps have a dual screen so that it folds out?
Best way I’ve found is to get the model off the back of the panel and search for that model and the controller card on eBay or Ali. And make sure that the cable to the led panel comes with the card. You can by a generic card and do the cabling and the card firmware yourself. But it probably won’t work, it barely ever worked when I tried that. So now I just buy the card that’s been pre flashed with the correct firmware and cable for your panel.
I'd like to make something like this but with built-in speakers and then watch TV and play games on it. Sadly I don't have a 3D printer or the skills to design something like this.

Very interesting to watch the progress 👍

To be sent to @bigstackd to be turned into the finest pirate coin....
Might suggest applying some kaftan tape on iPad video to display connection.
That's a good idea. I was thinking it was a pity the board connector didn't come with the same handle/hook that the ipad one came with
Nice! It’s crazy to think that that would have just been ewaste but you gave it a second life You have a sub!
Thank you!

Aw thanks. And if you find a way to interface the ipad touch screen to a Pi let me know!
Any screen ratio options so th picomac fills the screen undistorted with HDMI but 4x3? That'll be perfect.
Great job finding a use for that old iPad! Love 17:06
I'm glad you enjoyed the recursion

Great video. 👍If the touch sensor would work this could become a sure hit among Raspberry Pi users. 😉

I didn't notice. I was more intrigued with the build.👍 Good stuff

Looks very nice, a good project I think I will have a go with the Dell screen I have as it is 1080p, thanks

I can literally have a Pi 5 when energy low like lithium ion or po and a mini ATX with a GPU for when there is mains or sufficient solar / micro wind.
They usually have a multi-pin connector and then a some of them have a backlight couple of wires
Pretty nice. The old iPad 4 could get some new life. Hardly any apps run on the old thing anymore.

I have many LED screens from old laptops. Is there a common controler or a method to them?

Appreciate the comment.

Bro, good idea is start to using fusion 360, less time loos 😉
I like the coding. More my thing...
90° prism is the geometric name you're looking for.
Thank you. I knew someone would know.
Americans don't use the metric system- that would be all of us here in Europe 🇨🇭
Hmmm, very interesting..
Thank you. I've got the case working right now so there will be an update on that in a few video time.
