Zendaya was 16 when she did DWTS and Willow Shields was 14 when she did it and neither one had their parents over their shoulder telling what to wear or how to dance. I think it’s about trusting your kids and knowing that they’ll have good judgement and make good decisions when it comes down to it

Guys, A new perspective on modesty: You don't get to decide whether her clothes are modest or not (no, I'm not talking about her dance moves, that's another topic). Its strange how you say that what your talking about is in the Bible, but it's not. 1. Modesty in the Bible was equated with humility of the heart and dressing appropriately for the occasion, not sexuality, lust, or covering up skin. 1. Modesty isn't black and white. 3. God never gave us a list of the do wear's and the don't wear's, so what you decide to wear is your own convictions from the Holy Spirit. 4. Christians need to stop blaming women for men's sin and using the excuse "we must not cause a man to stumble". Doing that teaches men that they are slaves to lust and that they fear their sexuality because, "oh, no! She's showing her legs!" Instead of teaching the man to fear his sexuality and teaching him to expect all the women to cover up every inch of her body for him, try teaching him that he CAN overcome it and that he is NOT a slave to his sexuality. What it really meant when the Bible said that is that we shouldn't entice or try to lure another person in. That's what the serpent did to Eve. He profusely tried to get her to do what he wanted. So he is liable for accusation of sin. It still was Eve's doing that caused her to sin though. But a woman wearing an above the knee dress, just minding her own business, not even knowing that the man took note of her in the dress, shouldn't be held responsible for a man's sin. 5. Sexual attraction is different than lust. One is involuntary, one is voluntary and a sin (respectively). One is simply noticing a woman is physically attractive and beautiful, the other is objectification/dehumanization and having eye sex with her. One is God-given so that we may find a mate, the other is sin. Christians confuse sexual attraction with lust, and so they think that all attraction is bad and that God basically set us up for failure. 6. Christians need to stop using the "men are visual and women are emotional" excuse. Women are visual too! We feel attracted when we see a six pack at the beach! We feel attracted when we see a handsome man wearing skinny jeans! We can lust too if we let ourselves! Woman can be very sexual humans. 7. Women's bodies are not "sinful". Yes, Women should be modest (aka humble and Christlike, not confirming to the idealogy of the world), but they shouldn't have to cover up every inch of skin for a man. Women weren't put on this Earth to be tempresses. Here's what another Christian woman said: "I was at the swimming baths last year. There was a Muslim family: mum, dad, 5ish year old girl, 7ish year old boy. Boy was in tiny little trunks. Little girl was in a neck to ankle scuba suit. My heart broke for that little girl. Her body is learning this amazing new skill. Its learning to swim. And her mind and heart are learning how sinful her body is. Not just her genitals either. Her legs. Her shoulders. Her arms. Her sinful, sinful arms.... Your body isn't sinful. And for any men who fear they might rape a woman at the sight of her collarbone or knee, you need to take a looong hard look in the mirror." 8. I've heard Christians say (regarding a woman who was dressed "immodestly"), "If she doesn't respect herself, Then why should she expect others to respect her?" - Not every woman who dresses more revealing than you has "a lack of self respect". - Why exactly should you respect her? Because she's a human!!! Just like you!!! You should know that, especially since you're a Christian. Just the fact that she was born in this Earth, gives her the right to be respected. Its ironic that many Christians are all about "respect, kindness, and loving your neighbor", but a minute later they say, "Well if she's dressed immodestly, than why should I respect her?" Modesty isn't a prerequisite to respect. 9. Modesty isn't necessarily about how much skin you show, but rather your heart. Of a woman in a burka was wearing the burqa to be a show-off, then that would be immodest in the eyes of the Lord. But just because a woman shows the part of her legs above her knees, it doesn't mean she is immodest. 10. The fact that many Christians think that women have to cover up but men don't is really sexist. If a woman shouldn't show her stomach, than a man shouldn't be shirtless. Please, if you're going to have a dress code, men should have the same standards of "modesty" as women. 11. If you want to be considerate of someone specific and cover up because you know that he really struggles with seeing you in revealing clothing, than fine, that's great. I'm all for that. I'm fact I would encourage women to be considerate of a brother in Christ who is really struggling. But he should never blame his sin on you or say that it's your fault or your responsibility to keep him from sinning. He should take full responsibility if he sins. And he shouldn't ever *demand* that you do that for him, or make you feel bad for simply existing because of his sin. You don't have to cover up every single inch for every single man. That's ridiculous and impossible. The facts that women have to cover up for their elders, pastors, and even some of their family members (who are strong in faith) simply because "they are men and men lust" is crazy. I believe that modesty is extremely important for a Christian. And I do think there are limits to what you should wear (depending on the occasion, of course), no matter what your intentions are. But modesty isn't necesarily about lust and sexuality, and "covering up". It's mainly about humility, setting a good example for others, and putting on a Christlike character. Sorry that this was long. I'm really passionate about sharing this "uncommon" view of modesty with other Christians. I hope you read this openmindely and considered this new perspective.
My daughter dances. If she wanted to take part in DWTS, her mom would support her if doing so would not interfere with her education. Any reservations I might have about her costume would carry no weight whatsoever, because such reservations would not receive any backup from Missus A.

But a woman wearing an above the knee dress, just minding her own business, not even knowing that the man took note of her in the dress, shouldn't be held responsible for a man's sin.
5. Sexual attraction is different than lust. One is involuntary, one is voluntary and a sin (respectively). One is simply noticing a woman is physically attractive and beautiful, the other is objectification/dehumanization and having eye sex with her. One is God-given so that we may find a mate, the other is sin. Christians confuse sexual attraction with lust, and so they think that all attraction is bad and that God basically set us up for failure.
6. Christians need to stop using the "men are visual and women are emotional" excuse. Women are visual too! We feel attracted when we see a six pack at the beach! We feel attracted when we see a handsome man wearing skinny jeans! We can lust too if we let ourselves! Woman can be very sexual humans.
7. Women's bodies are not "sinful". Yes, Women should be modest (aka humble and Christlike, not confirming to the idealogy of the world), but they shouldn't have to cover up every inch of skin for a man. Women weren't put on this Earth to be tempresses.
Here's what another Christian woman said:
"I was at the swimming baths last year. There was a Muslim family: mum, dad, 5ish year old girl, 7ish year old boy. Boy was in tiny little trunks. Little girl was in a neck to ankle scuba suit. My heart broke for that little girl. Her body is learning this amazing new skill. Its learning to swim. And her mind and heart are learning how sinful her body is. Not just her genitals either. Her legs. Her shoulders. Her arms. Her sinful, sinful arms.... Your body isn't sinful. And for any men who fear they might rape a woman at the sight of her collarbone or knee, you need to take a looong hard look in the mirror."
8. I've heard Christians say (regarding a woman who was dressed "immodestly"), "If she doesn't respect herself, Then why should she expect others to respect her?"
- Not every woman who dresses more revealing than you has "a lack of self respect".
- Why exactly should you respect her? Because she's a human!!! Just like you!!! You should know that, especially since you're a Christian. Just the fact that she was born in this Earth, gives her the right to be respected. Its ironic that many Christians are all about "respect, kindness, and loving your neighbor", but a minute later they say, "Well if she's dressed immodestly, than why should I respect her?"
Modesty isn't a prerequisite to respect.
9. Modesty isn't necessarily about how much skin you show, but rather your heart. Of a woman in a burka was wearing the burqa to be a show-off, then that would be immodest in the eyes of the Lord. But just because a woman shows the part of her legs above her knees, it doesn't mean she is immodest.
10. The fact that many Christians think that women have to cover up but men don't is really sexist. If a woman shouldn't show her stomach, than a man shouldn't be shirtless. Please, if you're going to have a dress code, men should have the same standards of "modesty" as women.
11. If you want to be considerate of someone specific and cover up because you know that he really struggles with seeing you in revealing clothing, than fine, that's great. I'm all for that. I'm fact I would encourage women to be considerate of a brother in Christ who is really struggling. But he should never blame his sin on you or say that it's your fault or your responsibility to keep him from sinning. He should take full responsibility if he sins. And he shouldn't ever *demand* that you do that for him, or make you feel bad for simply existing because of his sin. You don't have to cover up every single inch for every single man. That's ridiculous and impossible. The facts that women have to cover up for their elders, pastors, and even some of their family members (who are strong in faith) simply because "they are men and men lust" is crazy.
I believe that modesty is extremely important for a Christian. And I do think there are limits to what you should wear (depending on the occasion, of course), no matter what your intentions are. But modesty isn't necesarily about lust and sexuality, and "covering up". It's mainly about humility, setting a good example for others, and putting on a Christlike character.
Sorry that this was long. I'm really passionate about sharing this "uncommon" view of modesty with other Christians. I hope you read this openmindely and considered this new perspective.

Way to go Willie 👍 I have 3 daughter's, my oldest is almost 11 and has never even worn a 2 piece swim suit and we pretty much live on the water during the summer. In my opinion a child should mature into certain things as they get older. I just started letting her paint her finger nails, but soft colors only. My other girls are only 4 (twins) but same rules
