- Focus II (more known under original title Moving Waves) is the 1971 second album by Dutch band Focus. It includes the hit "Hocus Pocus" featuring yodelling and operatic falsetto from Thijs van Leer combined with Jan Akkerman's guitar. Even though the sound of the album was highly experimental for the time, it became very successful peaking at #9[2] in the Dutch Top 40 and later becoming popular in the United States, with "Hocus Pocus" raised at a #9 position[citation needed] on the Billboard Hot 100, and a #2 position[3] in the UK Albums Chart.

Special THANKS FOCUS ..
THE BEST MUSIC
I can't see how this band has become virtually unnoticed in recent years! it astounds me, because....well i'm sure you can hear what I mean
70's music makes today's music sound like a joke. This masterpiece epitomizes what the 70's was all about. So many great bands around. Life was so good back then.
I went Shepherds Bush on Saturday night with my some of my best friends, to see Hawkwind and Focus and the best band was Focus by a mile:
This album is a masterpiece..
Thijs Van Leer , one of the greatest musician composer of the 70's tastefull keyboards and beautiful voice

I bought 'Moving Waves' when it came out in 1971, this track is the only piece of contemporary/rock/fusion, call it what you want, that at the time moved me emotionally, causing the classic 'lump in the throat' feeling. I am of course referring to the passage titled 'Tommy'.
Tommy, what superb choonage!
This man was badly regarded akerman was in my opinion one of the top 3 guitarists of the era
Master piece with the Master of Guitars and Lute unreachable Till today

Focus in Brazil again, YES!!!
Just listening to this on the 'Rainbow' album. The version of Hocus Pocus on there is mad genius.
@beastmry It's Monteverdis Opera "Orpheus" (1607 Mantua). Focus did it damn well!!!
Timeless, and they were wonderful on stage in those good old days too. We used to play this, or try to. It's all a bit good. Wonder if Dizzee Rascal has released a version of this?
@Porojukaha
"Do they have lyrics?" Well yes listen hocus pocus and you will hear the most inspirational lyrics ever!
Class
I found the Moving Wave vinyl at some random record store a couple of days ago! Now I need to buy me a record player
As Whispering Bob Harris would say "Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Focus...... nice"
You can never surpass the original but check out Steve Hackett's version of Tommy on disc 2 of his latest album, 'Beyond the Shrouded Horizon'. Awesome.
@beastmry Truly told. This music is amazingly beautiful.
Everytime i heard this on the radio i thought it was a song from Santana.
@gandalfknight pop?
So is this where Eddie Van Halen got Eruption from? His Dutch roots? lol
