I own the Sharp-tail 20 ga. and it has quickly become my go to field gun. It fits me well, it's light enough to carry all day, swings well, and I hit more than I miss with it... which I can't say about every gun I own. Also, their customer service is top notch. I had one issue with the first one I purchased in that the black chrome on the barrels began wiping off after around three outings. I contacted CZ, they had me send it in, acknowledged a manufacturing defect, and they simply replaced the gun. It did take a little while to receive the replacement, but I've had no issues since. I really do love this gun!
I don’t have a CZ SxS but I have a few of their O/U models and I’ve been nothing but happy with them! Got a 12ga and liked it so much I picked up a matching 20ga as well. They make great dove guns, and I shoot the 12ga for sporting clays quite often. Like you’ve said they’re just great value guns. Extremely nice wood for the price point, hold up well, shoot well, and the 12ga uses commonly available beretta chokes.
I just picked up a CZ Bobtail in 28G, and agree with your assessment. First time with a 28G. Loads of fun to shoot. Construction is really nice, and mine has nice wood. Keep up the great work.
I have the Sharptail in 20, used for 4 years now. Took me about a year to really get great with it from going from a over under. I had to take 3/4 in of the back, as here in north hunting with extra cloths made gun to long. Great in grouse woods for grouse and woodcock, been out west on sharptails, quail and pheasants. I have used it for sporting clay and is great practice for it. My only complain is how i carry most time by receiver it has wore out barrel blueing. I find grip is a open palm on front with fingers on right side up. Great video again
Just bought the sharp tail in 12G this last season and love it. Managed to take down a few grouse with it in the late season. Have the Bobwhite G2 in 20G and love it also for early season, took a grouse with it at around 40 yards through the aspen timber on my MI trip.
I purchased this in 20ga a few months ago and have used it in a few preserve hunts and many rounds of skeet. It is a great shooting gun. It was not heavy after 4 miles in the hunting fields and comfortable to shoot on the skeet field. Even with a Shotkam hanging off the end, the gun swings nicely for me and is a great fit. I would not hesitate to purchase it again. Even before I found TFL, I have always purchased Carlson extended choke tubes for my guns when they are available. I used them on this one as well.
I have the CZ upland ultra light over under and I’m extremely impressed by it, I bought it for bird hunting the cerakote finish is amazing I don’t have to worry it’s light gets on point fast and I don’t have to worry about it like a browning or beretta
I own a SharpTail in .410. Right now, I have the barrel at Briley being drilled and tapped for choke tubes. Right out of the box the patterns really opened up after 20 yards which for most applications is okay but we have some pretty tall trees here in the swamps of Southeast Va. Those guys at Briley have done four barrels for me now. I highly recommend them. I'll let everyone know how it works and hope to have some squirrel hunting videos this fall with the .410.
I've had that same gun the 20g sharptail for 7 years. right before year 5 when the warranty was going to be up it started double firing so I called CZ usa and they sent me a shipping label and i sent it to them. they had it a week and returned it and i've never had a problem since. I won HOA at our monthy sxs society tournament with this gun. Just last week I picked up the 12g Sharptail Target model with the 30" bbls and it is fantastic and fits like a glove.
I have a little bit older CZ redhead Target and I absolutely love it. I have put probably 3 thousand rounds through it without a problem at all. I use it for trap skeet and sporting clays. I also have 2 CZ Drake shotguns 1 in 12 gauge and 1 in 20 gauge. My daughter started shooting trap with the 20 gauge and probably put 1,500 rounds through it without a problem then she moved to 12 gauge but she grabbed my BT 99 instead of the 12 gauge Drake so I don't have a lot of rounds through the 12-gauge drake but what I have shot through it I was not disappointed. My nephew shoots a CZ quail 20 ga which is a slightly lighter Drake with a shorter length of pull. He has about 500 rounds through it this year and is doing well the shotgun hasn't had a problem yet. I'm very pleased with CZ over unders and their price point. I have been curious about the sharp tail Target model.
Steve, Thank You! Yesterday I just picked up my CZ Sharptail 28gauge. Have not shot it yet but really looking forward to it.
I’m happy for a sxs review hopefully many more to come. Good video bought my first coach gun the other day. Talk about how the sight picture changed is an understatement. I myself also was shooting high like you. My first sxs
I have one of these in 12 gauge. It points and swings beautifully for me. It originally had laser cut checkering, which I had overcut by hand and it now provides a much better grip. Other than the heavy trigger pull, the biggest problem is that mine patterns quite low. In order to hit a target I have to completely cover it with the muzzle, which took a lot of getting used to. The color seems to be something other than true color case hardening, as it's beginning to wear off where I hold it.
I have the sharp tail in 12 gauge and 410. Just seem effortless to come up and get on target the mount is right there. Awesome guns !
Thank you so much for the review, I saw in one of your previous videos when you showed us that you purchased this gun that it was exactly what I was looking for especially in the 28ga platform.
I own a CZ Woodcock G2 OU 12 G and really like it for the money have thought about getting a SxS thanks for the review Steve.
Yeah Steve! We've been waiting for you to get a SxS!
Can tell its his first sxs
I own a CZ Bobwhite G2 in 20 gauge and absolutely love it. I have taken to the local Sporting Clay's venue and had a blast with it. IMHO, CZ's are great guns for the price point!
Thank you so much for finally doing this
I have a Yildiz 3" 12 gauge Turkish made.
I tested some federal 1600 fps slug too.
And mossberg 20 gauge.
Turkey makes great❤❤❤❤
You left out it also comes in 16ga. I have one and love it. I especially like extractors so I don't have to seach in the weeds with the snaks looking for my reloadble empties.
That was a great review. Love the side by sides.
I got a side x side but mine is in 10 gauge and I made some home made chokes that work really good the pattern is so tight that the wade and pellets stay together even at 70 yards and I use 3 and a half inch high brass shells the gun I nickname (the pterodactyl gun) best shotgun I ever owned that I had since I was 16
I purchased one of these in the fall and have hunted with it several times. Zero problems and have downed many birds with it. It’s a very affordable gun that is fun and has that cool old school side by side look.
Thanks for doing a video on this. Have never tried a sxs.
I have owned a number of bird hunting guns. This looks like a great field gun. Can't wait to get one. Sweet smart gun for the price point. Love the full size nineteenth century case hardened lock plates. Sweet
I own the 12ga. 1000 rounds of sporting clays so far , plus took it pheasant hunting twice. No issues. I have some older Parkers, Fox, and AYA. Was looking for something modern to shoot alot of target rounds through. I’m trying to stick with my sxs guns as that’s where my passion is. Just shot an 80/100 which is only a couple birds lower than my o/u scores. Can’t beat the price point! Plus, alot of compliments at the range. Pretty gun.
Don’t have a cz SxS but do have a redhead premier target. Almost 4000 trap shells with 0 problems. Really interested in getting a SxS.
Love your videos
I have the cz sharptail in 16 gauge fixed chokes. Great hunting and clays SxS shotgun.
I can’t speak to the sxs model but I bought a CZ 20 gauge o/u 2 years ago and it’s been great to shoot. For sub $800 with auto ejectors it’s a fun field gun for upland birds.
Would really like to see this sxs on a pheasant hunt in the future. Looks like it would be a great upland option
These are available in Canada under the brand Huglu. I have the 'hammer classic' version; double hammers, double triggers (have a quick vid on it). got 3 pheasants and 2 grouse on its first field hunt last year. very nostalgic looking, but heavy triggers.
Great video.
I just purchased a Mossberg Black Label O&U in 20g. But I'm pretty much sold on the CZ sharp tail doubles really nice.
Steve, what do you think is the noticeable difference or difficulty shooting when it comes to shooting a SxS shotgun as opposed to a single or stacked barreled gun? I'm a firm believer in pointing the finger.
I would just like to say thanks Steve because of your videos I traded my semi auto Retay in for a Browning Maxus 2 Hunter thanks keep up the awesome videos
Nice review, I have a cz 20 gauge that I like.
Love the side by side! That looks like a sweet gun!
Steve. You need to try the CZ redhead premiere i run about 2000 rounds in mine. Love it just have to make sure it clean . That was the only problem I had with mine but I was shooting reloads and a very dirty powder
I love my CZ. My buddy got a drake and he love his as well he got his after shooting mine .
very good video as usual
Why not check the trigger pull for both barrels? Meaning check once, let the trigger reset, then check again, without breaking it open?
Have a ringneck 28 ga really like it had it for over 10 years great quail gun
i shoot alot of SxS and there is a big diffrence between a upland sxs and a waterfowl gun comb is higher on a upland forcing you to point below your target where a duck Sxs is set lower so bead is where the shot goes
I would be interested in a review of the CZ Bobwhite 12 gauge if you have the opportunity.
I have a Bobwhite SxS and love it. If you can find the field version, it will have sling studs pre-installed, and a cool cerakote finish. I wanted that one, but am very pleased with the standard black one I own and shoot. I had the sling studs installed by a gunsmith. Buy it!
Nice video. But as a reloader seeing you toss those hulls is giving me anxiety 😂😂
Waiting for the m3020 very excited!
Ive owned this same shotgun for a little over a year. It has taken alot of squirrel, rabbit and clays with zero issues. Functions flawless. For the most part i am happy with it. The one thing ive noticed is that some of the case color finish is starting to wear off after multiple wipedowns. I use the rem oil pre soaked wipes. Other than the issue with the case color i highly recommend this gun for the money.
Can you shoot it in the rain or will the action get messed up? Waterfowl hunting ect.
Wonder if a light coat of lacquer would help preserve the coloring. As long as your not shooting trap, I wouldn't think it would heat up enough to worry about
@takuroshinji2445 ive never had a problem hunting in the rain with it as long as you wipe it down thoroughly and grease the action back up
Hey do you shoot the left or right barrel first !? And what choke sizes !
Would like to see you do a review on an O/U Yildiz. Inexpensive gun.
I have a Cz ringneck in 12, and two redhead deluxe in 20 and 410. All have been good quality, reliable and do their part if I do mine on accuracy. My only complaint is I haven’t shot nearly as much as I want to 😂
First time out with my wife's 20ga gun doubled during the first box of shells. Received interior was filthy.
Any chance you can get your hands on a CZ All American 30” barrels gun? I’m curious about the build quality
Would you use Carlson flush or extended chokes for that Sharptail 20guage?
Looks like would be a nice one, was really happy to see this gun come up. Been debating on side by side or an over and under myself. As side by sides go that one probably up on the list.
Get SxS B4 it disappears. U can always get O/U anywhere. And, the former looks more
sleek n sexy to boot. As he points out, u need to practice more w SxS* and of course, it'll
b a great companion out in the fld. Wished they had it in 16Ga for the heavier thxgvng rump
w/o the wt of a 12Ga walking a lot thru the woods to Grandmother Hse we Go!
*C "@markcross9762"'s comment below. Same here but w another SxS make
Would like to see a Redhead Premier from CZ sometime. Been looking pretty hard at a 20 gauge.
would love to have your opinion on the CZ All American too.
I have the bobwhite g2 and love it!!!
Love them king ❤
Looks Like a Nice Shotgun , Great Video 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Just picked up a new one this past weekend and I’m really impressed! 20 ga, 28”. I tried the hanging trigger test, and it breaks as soon as I let go. Not sure if they improved it since this review, or if it’s just this one. Just thought I’d share that. Anyway, thanks for the video, definitely played a role in my choice!
Awesome to hear! Happy shooting!
I have a couple thousand rounds through a CZ Drake 12ga over the last 4-5yrs. Including LOTS of 3” waterfowl loads and I have had no issues at all. Not an exact comparison to the sharptail, but if they’re built in the same factories to the same tolerances. It’s not exactly comparing apples and oranges. Maybe like comparing apples and pears or something.
How about the cz all American trap combo or just all American trap
Glad to see the SxS being recognized.
* I disregarded that finger pointing fad years ago. I took a gun that fit me well, and experimented with and with out pointing my finger at a distant small object as I shouldered my gun. If anything, I seemed to be more consistent without pointing the index finger of my left hand ( I'm right handed ).
A lot of people may be surprised to find that their gun doesn't fit them very well. Try closing the eyes before shouldering a shotgun. After shouldering the gun and opening the eyes, many shooters will find they are not looking squarely down the barrel. Most people can adapt themselves to their gun. This will work alright when target shooting, but when hunting, people do not take the time to get themselves properly aligned with their gun, they just throw the gun to their shoulder and fire. That's why a gun that fits the shooter is so important when considering a gun that's to be used for hunting. The only caveat is that most people that do a lot of shooting can train their body to fit their gun so they will be looking squarely down the barrel in order to address most hunting opportunities that will be presented.
I’d love to see a CZ Bobwhite 28ga review!
What's your thoughts on the fausti 100 or 200 bc
Could I use this as a lefty? Would it have too much cast for me?
I have the CZ Sharptail 28ga. I am very pleased with it. The LOP is a bit short for me due to my height/long arms but now I am using using a recoil pad to give me a bit more length. Question: Which barrel do you shoot first? What size chokes were you using?
Can you shoot it in the rain or will the action get messed up? Waterfowl hunting ect.
I shoot Improved cylinder right barrel, and modified left barrel. I am right eye, right hand dominate.
@@robinbanion3772 Thank you! I am (currently) the same! 😎
Does Carlson make chokes for this ??
Need to review the tristar Bristol side by side awesome gun
Ive got a cz bobwhite g2 intermediate 20ga, and a bobwhite g2 28ga and theyre by far my favorite guns i own. Far preffered to my bennelis. The sxs configuration helps you look at your target, not your bead. I am a far better shooter with a sxs.
Would you review the Bobwhite G2 or FAIR Iside?
I have a 20ga Sharptail use it mostly for Quail. It’s a great gun.
For the money you won’t find a better SxS for the money.
What's up with the remington versus max
Not a fan of SxS myself, but this was a good video.
Had a CZ Bobwhite 20g, and I agree with your review, it had good value for money. Until I shot it at a patterning board, that is. Right barrel shot way high and left. Poor regulation, probably the one problem that would be unfixable. That was the end of Turkish shotguns for me. Traded it in toward a used Browning BSS. No free lunch folks. You get what you pay for.
Had the same problem with a Grulla 216. Problem not limited to cheap SxS.
Thanks for that tip. I’ve never owned a 20 ga. SxS, but I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one and the 20 ga. CZ Bobwhite felt really good to me at the store. If it doesn’t shoot as it should, however, then I’m not interested. Saving money is fine, but I’m not interested in false economy. I will look elsewhere, perhaps Browning.
Could you review Akus side by side?
If you put a Kick-Eez recoil pad, do you think you would be able to hunt pheasants, ducks, and geese with no problem using 28guage.
Hey amigo cz sharptail viene tambien en calibre 16
What about the Drake? Would love to see the CZ "bargain" double reviewed
Do the Remington v3 pro next please 🙏
Q magnífica arma amigos son una elegancia regalo 📦 fabuloso de arma
Try the bobwhite and the classic hammer please
The CZ double barrels are the best deal in firearms. Beautiful guns for working man price.
Do Merkel Mod. 8 or 47E
Does this have a cast one way or the other? I’ve wanted a side by side for a while but most are cast for a righty and I’m one of those guys that stands on the other side of the gun. CZ typically does a good job of a pretty neutral cast on their O/U options, hopefully this one is the same!
This is Huğlu 😎
I bought the bobwhite g2
Need more sxs reviews
Does the Sharptail automatically advance from one chamber to the next when firing? Or must the user flip a switch between shots? Is it an easy switch to flip if one is in a hurry when shooting, say, skeet?
I don't have a sharptail, but pretty much every single trigger double barrel will switch barrels once you shoot the first.
@@swatllamatbmc4675 Thanks! That's helpful to know.
I have the SharpTail in.410. Select which barrel you wish to fire first, and it automatically advances to the next barrel.
If you notice in the video, he mentions mechanical trigger, rather than inertia. That's referring to the gun switching barrels for you upon firing.
Review your over under skb you just unboxed!!!
I've got the CZ Bobwhite 1st Gen and the Gen 2 both in 20 ga. Good grouse and woodcock guns. The Gen 1 has heaviest triggers on any shotgun I' ve ever seen. Gen 2 much better.
قطعه جميلة جداً 😍
V3 vs sx4 ?
U should try some Pilla lenses sometime
This is one of my favorite guns. The first gun I could shoot well. I have it in 28ga. Check out my guy in the UK on TSC (The Shooting Channel). He actually taught me how to shoot, and I like never miss. I started with the sharptail 28, but I easily switch from that to an SX4 to an Instinct and back "down" to a Bobwhite. don't miss a beat. don't miss a shot. I learned watching his youtube videos. I say check him out or perhaps reach out to him. Because, you're shooting is excellent, I'm sure so much better than mine. But I noticed your shooting and, I think you can add a new tool/option to your tool belt and the UK guy is the guy to give it to you. If my sorry tale can learn from a video, then - i bet you would be a genius with a real conversation with the guy. Dude, i like never miss. Check him out. I'll tell you what caught my attention, when you said, "i come down - to the stock". I don't come down to the stock on my sharptail or bobwhite or any sxs i've had. The semi autos, o/u etc come up to the cheek bone, where it seems yours sit, and the sxs, they sit "just there". They sit below the cheek bone. You gotta find it. I probably switch between it well because I "started" with a sxs. It's the first and original phyiscal and reflex position for a shotgun, makes it easy to pick up something else and shove it high up against my cheekbone. Anyhow, you don't have to bring your cheekbone down to it. But hay, you get it done and in the end that's all that matters. You'd probably enjoy the gun more if you didn't have to come down to it.
One trigger on a side by side!!! That's unAmerican!
Fair review for the gun. Not digging the new wedding filter in the video…
I would not buy a Turkish side by side. From what I have heard they don’t take the pounding over time. I still shoot my Savage Fox Model B made in 1970. I have used it in the field and on the trap range with over 2,000 rounds through it. Had to replace the firing pins once.
>with over 2,000 rounds through it
>had to replace firing pins
