    My problem with “luxury items” is even though they may be “high quality,” they’re still very unethically produced and are pretty much made the same way as any other fast fashion. So I’d rather spend 1000 dollars at a small business where I can get something cute, unique, and more likely ethically sourced instead of designer brands that don’t even ethically source their stuff.

    • @jesslikescoffee24
      @jesslikescoffee24 2 года назад +12

      Yep, you could either spend $100 on a shirt because it has a particular brand on it, but is otherwise nothing fancy, or spend $100 on a shirt because it’s locally made with ethical materials by people being paid ethical wages. I know where I’d rather splurge.

      I agree just imagine getting something custom made locally where the person making the item is getting paid a living wage. You would get a beautiful well made item. So much better than "luxury brands".

    • @aprildawnsunshine4326
      @aprildawnsunshine4326 2 года назад

      I agree with most of y'all, except for certain higher end brands that have responded to the rejection of unethical practices by cleaning up their supply lines. That said, those products are typically accessories (sunglasses, purses, shoes, etc) and you're not very likely to find them in an outlet store. Does take a bit of research, but it's not like there's many small businesses making things like sunglasses or leather purses because it's not profitable to do so without charging luxury brand prices.

  • @aksez2u
    @aksez2u 2 года назад +143

    Yes, outlet stores can be anything. Full price, old stock, made for the store. The best advice is to not get carried away assuming everything is a deal. Make sure you like the item for what it is, and not just because you think it's a deal. It might not be! This goes for mid-price stores as well.

    • @bm7792
      @bm7792 2 года назад +1

      Outlet stores often produce identical items at a lower quality standard. So if you were to take the same item from say, Burberry, and compare it to a Burberry Outlet item, you might find a different zipper, lower quality seams, or even discoloration when compared to the regular-priced product. There may be SOME overstock items, but I think it's mostly lower quality product. Does that mean it's LOW quality product? Well, that's gonna vary item by item.

    I worked at an Anne Taylor outlet and 98% of our stock was made for the outlet

  • @imscanon
    @imscanon 2 года назад +8

    Designer outlets can be a treasure trove or sometimes even cost you more. The stock is a mix of overruns, off-season items, stuff that didn't sell, and often a 'tweak' to the store items but made specifically for the outlet so same shirt, cheaper buttons or fabric. Before spending a lot, to a lil homework on your phone to make sure you aren't overpaying or for something made more cheaply made. You do also see things selling for higher price in the outlet because things can sell better there and they bank that you don't know the general retail price of something. You'll also find more defectives so you really have to look hard for flaws. I used to be obsessed with Anne Klein work dresses and had a lot of them, but when I bought one at the outlet that looked the same general style, I later realized I paid near retail but it was a different fabric which wrinkled terribly (my others didn't wrinkle at all-ever) and the lining was different and hot and uncomfortable. Looked and seemed the same, but was def. not. Watch out for that one, it's an expensive mistake.

    I dislike people who abuse this well I want my dog in the store so I am going to say its a service dog and its like people like you who actually require it, and they are just abusing the system and than we cant say anything, and than these people are rude and often don't pick up after themselves and allow there dogs to shit and pee everywhere. It's not my job as a cashier to pick up your dogs crap, I experienced that working in area that is considered higher class lol you would think....

  • @annettediscos
    @annettediscos 2 года назад

    This looks like Desert Hills/Cabazon. Each store is different. Some carry outlet only items, some carry both. Price differences.. it really just depends. The outlet versions will have a price variance. They are not always discounted and are regular price. Outlet does not mean discount. Items that have been transferred from retail will more than likely be off season and more than likely discounted by a little to a lot. Really just depends. You have to know your brands to understand what outlet carries versus retail. The information is out there and not a secret. If you're a frequent shopper, you'll learn; otherwise, you can just ask the associates. By the way, get the coupon book from the office with your AAA card, ask for additional discounts because sometimes they have promos or coupons (be super nice) and or make a friend to get their discount, hah. Know when to shop... most stores start their holiday promos early and keep them late. I worked in too many stores there in my teens.
