  • Why an Orthodontist removes teeth for braces.
There are 3 main reasons why we take out teeth.

You got me on the first half; I want to align my teeth and see what I look like with out taking them out. My first orthodontist said my face would look different in the long run; therefore, I shouldn’t and he would not take out my back teeth. Sadly, he left after he put on my braces. Now, only having my braces in for a month, a new orthodontist comes in and says we needs to take out four teeth. He even stated that if I don’t take out my four teeth, he is taking out my braces and I have to go to another orthodontist. I’m 25, and it just makes no sense how one orthodontist didn’t mind my back teeth and actually said that he doesn’t want to extract, and this one does. I feel so unknowledgeable on this topic and you don’t know who to trust, and everyone has a different opinion.

We have great success with expanders and myofunctional therapy followed by braces. The issue is you are only focused on straightening the teeth and there are many other things that happen in the mouth such as eating, biting, swallowing and facial expression. You need to expand your treatment goals. No amount of moving furniture around is going to work when the room is not large enough for the furniture. You need to make the room bigger first.

@@alisonbecker9833 Trash dental school education is doing this to honest consumers. You should never remove teeth. You should encourage growth through the aid of expansion when the children are still growing. They are essentially discouraging growth and treating us all like bonsai trees. The ortho establishment got sued in the 80s for the damage extraction retraction orthodontics did to a woman who developed severe tmj issues post ortho treatment. She won her case. The ortho establishment then spent the next decade fabricating research to show that traditional extraction retraction treatment didn't cause damage. Now it's very difficult to sue and prove this damage. They will never admit to the harm their treatments are doing to millions of people. Too much money to be made off our suffering. If we can educate enough people, we can tip the tide of this gross negligence and malpractice.

Ive seen a lot of comments complaining about teeth extraction, but I just got 2 of my unhealthy top teeth (molar) extracted for braces, here is the thing, those theeth were in the worst condition possible they were rotten and broken and im glad they got extracted, my teeth are crowded and it makes sence that they got extracted , all my dentist have told me that I have a small mouth and big teeth, so I don't think it all makes sense, im going to get 2 of my bottom teeth extracted as well before get braces on my bottom teeth, which are also unhealthy... One of my friends has flared teeth after 5.5 years of braces (which i now realise is because she didn't get her teeth extracted) and i don't want that, also the unhealthy teeth were causing a lot of problems for me, so im glad I'm getting my teeth extracted

Children’s jaws/face are malleable and can move and grow. I am no a Dr so I can’t give medical advice but I would HIGHLY recommend getting another opinion and NEVER remove teeth with the exception of wisdom teeth.

It mentioned that she was initially going to get Braces under the UK NHS ("Health Service") but that an NHS Orthocuntist insisted that she have 4 teeth Taken out, even though it wasn't necessary, and not only that, but the "NHS Extraction-Plan" was estimated to take nearly 2 years to complete....

@@jennyd5728 Good mother. Don't pull teeth and get him out of headgear. The headgear is only causing damage. It presses the jaws backward into the airway. Pre and post scans can confirm this. Don't make his airway and mouth smaller. No extractions and no retraction of the teeth and jaws. Doing so will result in sleep apnea, brain fog, restlessness, forward head posture (the body tries to compensate for a pinched airway by tilting forward to open it), pain, and those are just a few examples. Expand the mouth so that there is proper tongue space. Keep all the teeth and move the jaws forward into occlusion with each other. Find yourself a ortho who specializes in expansion (dna, schwartz, mse, rpe, sarpe, ease, etc.). Nature did not design your son incorrectly. Its is our environment that it causing dental crowding (soft food diet, mouth breathing, improper swallowing, etc). It wouldn't hurt to have him looked at by a myofunctional therapist to make sure his swallowing and tongue muscle are in top shape. He needs to be able to lay his tongue flat on the roof of his mouth if he isn't eating or talking. If he can't because there isn't room to do so, you know he needs expansion. Someone his age should have a 40-45mm wide palate/maxilla. Anything under that, and he doesn't have proper space. Best of luck.

Three reasons why you take out teeth: 1. Laziness. 2. A quick fix. 3. You haven't been trained on expansion.
You didn't create sufficient room for all the teeth. Instead of focusing on a long expansion process, you did the quick fix and amputated healthy teeth. You also tipped teeth, without creating proper space, and a flared smile is your result. Be sure not to go to this guy, because he's clearly lacking in proper training. Your body is designed to have all your teeth properly fit in your mouth. More importantly, you should have clear room for your tongue to lay on the roof of your mouth. The fact that you don't mention tongue space in your video clearly demonstrates a lack of knowledge. You also didn't mention airway. Extraction retraction orthodontics pushes the jaws backward into the airway. A pinched airway leads to lifelong issues including: sleep apnea, restlessness, brain fog, lack on energy, moodiness, pain, forward head tilt, mouth-breathing, etc. If you are a young person watching this video, do not have an orthodontist pull teeth. Doing so leads to asymmetry, unbalanced bite, resorption of the aveolar ridge, bad oral hygiene. Do yourself a favor and find an orthodontist that specializes in expansion techniques, and limits tooth extractions. You want a full mouth with all your teeth (yes, including wisdom). Your older self with thank you.
