darkskyx Unfortunately, once again my beloved punk is misunderstood. To be fair, with screamo, metal core, nu metal, and alternative, not to mention the tons of sub genres of punk, there is a lot it can be confused with.

For all of you guys complaining about this song:
A) Grow some balls and stop listening to scene kid music (BVB, Of Mice and Men, Bring Me, etc.)
B) Jake's vocals are perfect because the guitars perfectly replace the original song's vocal melodies and it all meshes very well.

August Burns Red are probably the most talented band on this album. Maybe not the best cover but definitely worth a listen. They are the MVP's of metalcore.

I'm liking how the screamer is doing the screamed singing vocals in this song. and the breakdowns in the chorus isn't all that bad either. Will I buy the song? Nope, but still a million times better than Miley Cyrus lol. Hey, do a music video where the lead vocalist is naked on a wrecking ball. That would be pretty badass lol.

Ok, so coming from someone who screams live pretty regularly, the screams that this lead singer does during the chorus are INSANELY DIFFICULT. Like, this is throat and diaphragm ruining if you scream it incorrectly and this dude fucking nails it. I've only listened to the constellations album by these guys but this is some amazing musicianship and talent.
I wish i could do those vocals, they are so amazing - screams and melody all together. Knowing how difficult it is to nail that technique, I can always appreciate it when vocalists actually do it in their songs.

I don't usually enjoy Punk goes Pop covers but August Burns Red are one of the best bands to appear on these compilations. This cover and their Baby One More Time cover are both fantastic and manage to sound like the originals only with meaty guitars and uncleans throughout, showing that they can turn glitzy pop songs into powerful and heavy melodic metalcore tunes.
The dude nails that chorus. You don't hear that great of a melody from most harsh vocalists. A++

As an avid August Burns Red fan, this is a pretty regular vocal style that they did for this song and i think it turned out pretty well!

This is a great cover. It's a way I've never heard jakes voice ever before. It doesn't need clean vocals at all. There others bands that have done it way. Listen to them. People should take the time to listen to every single part of the song and everything involved. It's amazing what you could hear

Lol people are mad because this is such a different style then they were expecting. Can't even admit that its good because you would rather have someone else sing this than scream it. Sorry but at this point ive heard too many covers of this song that sound the exact same to each other. ABR didn't try and change their sound to get popular with this song. They thought it would be fun and they got the chance to do it.

OKAY well firs of all, to those who think this is the worst song on the album, I'm sorry. This song is not the worst as far as musicality, but judging by the vocals I can see where there can be a little concern. But either way who are you to judge whether it's the best or not? August Burns Red is probably the most talented band on this record and they've gotten where they are with no clean vocals at all which is remarkable. I applaud ABR for this cover because they did it justice. They could've sat there with the "Messengers" frame of mind and say, " let's cover this song but make it to where no one can tell what we're playing." (AKA "Drunk In Love" Oceans Ate Alaska) ABR covered a song and changed it a little bit. They did not make the song different or hurt the song in any way, which did it justice. Matt did awesome, the guitars where great, and it was musically different. I loved it. That is my opinion.

I have been an ABR fan for a long time and I absolutely love their version of Wrecking Ball. I actually used to hate this song whenever I heard it on the radio, but now I can't stop singing it haha.
August Burns Red never disappoints with their Covers, keeping it HAF.
One of the few good songs on the album, no surprise that ABR delivered one of the three good songs on this whole album. Jake did a great job with this, as did the rest of the band. Flawless as always. I could see how it'd be easy to hate on this if you weren't familiar with ABR's style. Coming from a longtime fan, this was awesome! Not a meddler or whitewashed, but a solid effort no doubt. The vocal frys sold it for me.
I cannot get my head around the fact people hate this band. If only pop artists put 10% the passion of ABR do the state of modern music would be so much better
It's cool how jake actually made an attempt at singing here :) sure it could have been a bit better, but its still the best song off of punk goes pop 6. Plus they're in the middle of recording their new record, so they obviously had less time to work on this.

Now that I think about it, the lyrics seemed to fit better with this anyway.
I love the variety of punk goes pop. You have all sorts of pop song, bubbly and joyful, sometimes more emotional. And ten you have all sorts of covers, those with lots of screamo, those without, soft punk, hardcore, whatever. I really love all of that 💜

I admit I was let down by this cover because I had my hopes up really high for it but I still do like it. Especially as a drummer I really love listening to how Matt does it. This song has its pros and cons just like every other song in the world so stop fighting and listen!
I love ABR. And I'll probably love everything they come out with until they stop making music. But Jake has gotten slightly worse through the years. He was at his best from 06-08. Now he's just kind of nasally, especially his high screams. But don't let this song turn you away from ABR. Its not meant to be taken seriously. And Jake will sound hundreds of times better than this on their upcoming album.

Thats not who ABR is though. This is how they do their songs. Clean vocals isnt something they are known to do. If they brought in a guest singer for the chorus, it wouldnt be "their" cover.

This band needs to do Heavy, LP. Our Last Night covered it, and they usually have some nice growl but, it didn’t quite hit the spot. I can hear this guy belting out Heavy and just imagining it gives me goosebumps. I need August Burns Red to cover Heavy in my life.

I love August Burns Red and I usually enjoy these "Punk Goes" albums but honestly most of this album is garbage including this song unfortunately. It's a very boring, unimaginative cover in my opinion. They aren't suited for a song like this

my first time listening to August Burns Red and I’m in love.
I have a sore throat right now and I was cringing the whole time
I opened for ABR around '04, and I was a screamer at the time. Had never heard of them before the gig. They were amazing (even though i wasn't feeling the heavy christian scene that came with them), the vocals were alright to me back then. I saw them live again in '11 and I thought the screams were a million times better the second time. I noticed the vocal change personally around the Messengers album, the first song Truth of a Liar starts with a long high pitched scream, that was the first time I had heard him scream like that. He sounds different now because he been trying to progress as a vocalist over the last 10 years. However, when it comes to screaming certain people only have so much range. I love that he tries different screams, because the first 3 albums (roughly) were all identical, vocally. And if you guys think he is slacking off as a scream look at other screamers in the scene, (BMTH started as death metal, Asking Alexandria barely screams anymore, Of Mice and Men changed the screams, Slipknot started out way heavier) Point is for a decade of hardcore these guys are still going pretty damn strong and sticking to their roots along the way.
I saw ABR twice more since then, they are probably my favorite live act of all time! Also I may have used the word scene loosely here, please don't crucify me.

vocal styles change to not get stale plus he's been screaming for years eventually it takes a toll on your voice and it might be easier on this vocals to do it like this.
