Such a soothing, soulful performance. I've come to the conclusion that my all-time favorite song by Angelina is whichever one I'm listening to at the moment. Her voice could calm a stormy sea. She's what this world needs right now.
Republic Records should let Angelina bring back Jazz, and oldies. Her fan base is enormous. We are told that it is mostly made up of adults age 30 thru late 80's. I hope she did pick up some of the young crowd after her performance on AGT Champions. The age 12/20 something are the ones who spend the most money on CD's. In her case I am sure that we older fans will do our share. I plan on buying 6 of her albums, keep 2, and give the rest out to friends, and family.
@@leebrn8588 I fantasise that Angelina might accidentally meet Icelandic jazz singer 'Laufey' in her local supermarket in LA ... in my dream, they would sit down for coffee and brainstorm an award winning collab album of jazz fusion magic! R (Australia)
Just perfect, Angelina's laid-back and casual phrasing with that smooth voice and the playful ornamentations together with the crying trombone and the solid background from the rest of the band makes this a completely outstanding musical experience
This is nuts! I closed my eyes.. accidentally. She sounds like someone singing years ago. Insane.. this may be the first time I’ve seen you just get lost. It’s really beautiful,. Watching you is kind of a privilege really, hearing this and you is a gift.
Nice reaction! Imagine what she will be able to do when she’s grown and her voice and stage presence is even better (her voice is already out of this world). First there was Elvis, then there was MJ and my personal favourite PINK (that can sing rock, rock/pop and ballads and has the most the most spectacular live shows). But never in 50 years have I seen a bigger talent then AJ, she has the potential of becoming our times Elvis and the great one that we will talk about for a long time.
I’ve been a fan of Angelina Jordan almost from the beginning, it’s great watching new reactions and reading the comments, a few are are repeated over and over, Old Soul, Addictive, can’t believe what I’m hearing, How old is she .?? Goosebumps. And she makes me cry, and several more, I have to wonder if she’s picking it up from some of the old jazz singers who have long since been gone ? it would explain how she can sing in so many different voices, try reactions to “ It’s a mans world “ it’ll knock you out, and Angelina aged 6/7 singing “ I who have nothing “
Great title and my goodness! If only that becomes true I would travel across the universe to be there! Or I would settle, in this time we are living in, to have a live stream. ♥
Yes, and it could also be a TV special. Remember the good old days when Andy William, and Perry Como both had 1 hour tv shows weekly? Both liked to just sit on a stool and sing requests that were sent in by viewers. Angelina would fit right into that format. She is a crooner, not a belter like Diana, Daneliya, and so many other young singers out there today.
An example of Angelinas beautiful soul is the fact that she has never deviated from her promise to always perform barefoot. So she did just that on an outside stage in december in Norway at the Nobel prize ceremony 2014. She sang "What a Wonderful World" for the winner of the prize. But doing that made the little angel sick (she got a cold), and the problem with that in turn was that she had a commitment to sing at a televised charity gala for local heroes in Sweden a few days after the Nobel performance. She was so sick by then that the organizers of the gala (and her mom of course) said that it was totally ok for her to stay at home and recover from her cold instead. But as it was for charity Angelina insisted on performing (of course). She sang "I¨ll be there" at that event and you can clearly hear that her voice wasn't a hundred a percent , but she did her best as always and sang absolutely beautifully. Knowing the back story of that gala performance makes it that more special to watch.
@Akersjon_278: That performance of 'I'll Be There' was undoubtably physically hard on Angelina but provided us with a rare glimpse of what happens when she's really determined to do something ... a steely resolve and passion could be heard in her cracking voice and seen in her body language which I can only recall observing once before, in her version of 'Funny Valentine' recorded the year before this. We rarely see any outward signs of what has driven Angelina throughout her professional career since her first studio recordings at the age of six. So far, nobody has been able to elicit answers to those kinds of questions in interviews ... her answers are always polite but short and opaque. The only time I've ever heard her reveal a tiny fragment of what goes on behind her beautiful, intelligent eyes when she performs, was a brief discussion with Erling Kittelsen to mark the publication of her book: ruclips.net/video/6p6iL989P_8/видео.html (there are English sub-titles available). Although written by a child, this is not a 'children's book' ... the way she apparently sees the world is startling and deeply mysterious! R (Australia)
Thanks for being back with Angelina finally and for another amazing reaction, SoFie. "Cry Me a River" was first released in 1955, with the voice of Julie London. This is definitely a much more jazz version of this classic with an excellent band that Angelina played with in concerts that summer. Angelina is truly extraordinary for the vocal quality of her warm and slow voice, it's an extraordinary performance with a very nice interaction between Angelina's voice and the band's instruments create a real jam session with Angelina at the center. She had the progression sheets of the songs resting on the stage at her feet, you can see it in a long shot in the video of other songs from the same concert. 😍 That summer she did two more concerts with this band and she never sang this song the same, but she was always absolutely sweet. If you prefer a version with better sound and just a little bit faster, you can listen to the studio version on her album "It's Magic" recorded with the Norwegian Military Band 😊
Angelina is just 11 years old here. The way she delivers this song, it's like she has been singing it for about 40 years. She does it so effortlessly. Angelina does this song again with a full orchestra for her 2018 album "It's Magic". It is also great, but this stripped back one she did at this 2017 show is probably my favorite. I always prefer the ones with less instruments because there is so much going on in her vocals that the less things there are to distract from that the better it is IMO. She does some other one in this show that deserve a look too when you get to them. ....also, for some of the ones with the best audio be sure to check out her cover channel. They are all in an intimate setting with a good mic.
This is standard jazz at its utmost unity of spirits as well as therapeutic benefits for the soul, isn't it? To me and to the audience that day, the fusion of the hurting human vocal and the bleeding trombone instrument as two voices individualized in one is so poignant that the applause after the perfect rendition of the trombonist, although commanded by the jazz tradition, crownes the climatic musical togetherness with a unanimous agreement of the listeners. While at her famous reherseal the fake tears are comically bathing in distilled water, Angelina's genius here is to discard, it seems to me, the ironic sarcasm directed to the flirteous male lover in order to showcase glaringly the bitter reminiscing and the lonely tears of the loyal heart. Thank you, SoFie, for your faithful love, support and promotion of Angelina!
Thank you for this reaction, Sophie. This song reeeeeeeaaaaaalllllly connects with me and seeing your reaction was very validating! I don’t think this performance gets enough love, and I think part of the reason is exactly what you pointed out. She just makes it look so effortless. But the way her vocals just glide over the melody, almost weightless, like a leaf floating in the breeze.... I know I’m sounding a little too much like a bad poet here, but the this performance affects me profoundly me every time I hear it.
I always loved this torch song, and I thought the absolute perfect version was Julie London’s 1950’s classy, sexy, smoky vocal. Angelina, with this nice band behind her, gives us the real thing. Forget her age-she’s a real jazz singer giving us a song that will be beautiful, but different, the next time she sings it. It just flows out of her. I don’t think her almost-bored body language is intentional, but it fits the lyrics of someone completely dismissive of the other person’s pain in the song. She is so beyond her years. My favorite singer in the world. Just an added note. There’s a line in the lyrics of Cry Me A River that is one of my favorites. It’s an unusual and clever rhyme that works perfectly with the mood of this sophisticated song. We get an unexpected rhyme from “plebeian” and the two words “me, an’” in the next line. It always caught my attention. Angelina’s wording is slightly different from Julie London’s, but the smooth rhyming words and inflection are the same. It’s a great line. Listen for it. 🎵...told me love was too plebeian Told me love was through with me, an’ Now you say...🎵
Arthur Hamilton, a classmate of Julie London at Hollywood Professional School, wrote "Cry Me A River". You are right. Those two lines are pure genius in lyric writing. I like your comment about Angelina's "almost-bored body language". A memory popped into my head from when I once saw Chet Baker playing in a nightclub in New York. Between tunes, he wasn't almost bored, he was full-blown bored. But, when he played that trumpet, it was magic. Just like Angelina's voice.
Robert Carlson That’s interesting. Did he write the song with Julie London in mind as the singer? I’d believe that because it’s such a perfect fit with her sultry voice and appearance.
Love your enthusiasm! This is pure perfection, just flowing so easily and casually from this young genius. Also, it is great to see Angelina Jordan as part of an ensemble, at home as a musician on stage with other musicians - albeit on a different level than most...
She is, without a doubt, the most versatile singer of excellence on the planet. She has no problem with any genre of music and performs all of them stunningly.
The velvet queen does it again.I don't know how this girl can sing so perfectly at this age and raises so many good emotions.Just world class! What she will do in the future will be mind boggeling!!!
Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. Prior to her recording of this song, the one by Julie London was my favourite. Angelina h s toppled a 55-year record of my preference for Julie. I know you react to many other singers, as well as other types of performances, and it must be difficult arranging your schedule to meet the expectations of their fans but, as a very selfish old man, may I ask you to consider giving Angelina a little more of your time, please? By my count you have covered 6 of her over 130 videos and I fear that, because of my age, I will not be around when you get to your 50th :-(
I agree with you. Everything about this girl moves me in ways I'm not sure I understand. She's absolutely unique in my 68 years and I've heard the best.
Hi Sofie! Long time no see :) This is one of my top favourite Angelina performances. Jazz perfection in all its glory and the musicians worked so well with her, specially the trombone who has done other concerts with Angelina. You should check out "Diamonds are Forever" from the same concert. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Only one thing. I absolutely understand your excitement listening to this gem of a performance but it would be great if you stopped the video, made your comments and then started the video again so your followers can appreciate the full effect of the performance ;)

She continued to write lyrics, compose on piano and guitar, and record. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020.
Finally you reacted to another Angelina performace! Good! And so are your reaction to it. I dont remember - but i dont think you have seen Shield yet. Her original song. My favorit. Please take that next time! 😎
Hi there. Enjoyed your reaction and comments. And yes, probably the audio was not the best. Angelina did this song at Kongsberg in 2018, in an unbelievable concert live with an incredible band of great musicians. Check it out, really great. Cheers and stay safe
Hello Sofie. I'm subscribing to your channel in Hope's of seeing more Angelina Jordan reactions from you. I really really enjoy your reaction to our BAREFOOT PRINCESS with the VELVET VOICE!!! Thank you. Can you react to her DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER...She sang it at the very same festival she did this song. I think you will enjoy that too.💖💖
This sounds like a tribute to Julie London's version from the 1950's. The song was written by a high schoolmate of Julie London. Julie also had the technique of 'barely singing'. And had a wide vocal range similar to Angelina's. Original recording - ruclips.net/video/DXg6UB9Qk0o/видео.html

Love your appreciation of the wonderful Angelina and there are so many more songs I would suggest [and I have a whole list] but have you reacted to Wicked Game yet? I'll just leave this one suggestion. It is just she accompanying herself on her piano and it is so well done! Really you'll have to like this. There's so many! But really she beautifully relates this one. Thanks for your reactions.
This performance is terrific, with only two guitars and a trombone. Very subdued. She has a big band version that is also fantastic. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/ViNgjfrc1dQ/видео.html You can be the judge of which version you prefer. I always love your Angelina reactions. 😊💕
I think you would love her rendition of Sam Smith's, I know I'm not the only one, or I'm still holding out for you by Baby fuzz. Love your reaction video's!

Fantastic and elegant Angelina, and a beautiful host, SofieReacts, what a combination!

He was only 10 years old when she sung the song. It's a man's world
Love your appreciation of the wonderful Angelina and there are so many more songs I would suggest [and I have a whole list] but have you reacted to Wicked Game yet? I'll just leave this one suggestion. It is just she accompanying herself on her piano and it is so well done! Really you'll have to like this. Here's the best link [it's largely a music video but this one will show her playing the piano some] Love your reactions! ]: Angelina Jordan playing piano (Wicked Game) 2018

Hope you get to listen to her doing this. There's so many! But really she beautifully relates this one. Thanks for your reactions.
That was just way too easy for her.

Very much in the style of Ella Fitzgerald, long single syllable whole notes to make any shape she wants
This performance is terrific, with only two guitars and a trombone. Very subdued. She has a big band version that is also fantastic. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/ViNgjfrc1dQ/видео.html You can be the judge of which version you prefer. I always love your Angelina reactions. 😊💕
