Wow, whoever mixed all these Genelec sessions deserves a round of applause. I have never heard such a great mix, drums & base so punchy. Best live sound I have ever heard from any artist.
@@TimTheTuner I totally disagree. The mix has a great feel of loudness of a live performance and wall of sound. Raising the vocals on top of everything else would make the mix sound just mundane and boring.
The only bands that could sound good love are the ones thay got a real singer, Marko is a master!, but must of the actual singer are pure shit that just sound well with autotune, like most of the pop singers, all urban music singers and that crap of bad bunny, that bad bunny is a completely shit!
well the albums are mixed to sound in a particular way when played from a shitty 2-bit stereo or nowadays $2 headphones that ship with phones, which is what a lot of people have and use. sadly :(
This version is slightly different from the original one. Despite the fast paced original background music, it has got a bit of a laidback feel. I like this version, too. POTF makes anything work. :)
Can't remember anymore how many times I've played 'Daze'. It has to be my most played Poets of the Fall song besides 'Lift', 'The Poet and the Muse' and 'Carnival of Rust' Not sure which one from the new album is my favorite just yet... but give me some time and some more listening hours and I'm sure I'll find the right one ^w^
I don't know how I missed this, but as others before in the commetns said, the quality of this sound is amazing to be a live one and also Iwhen this song came out, I used to listen it almost every day for a long time. I ofc knew this from the time of 'Lift' way before. These guys are great.
"Daze" Rolling down the free way, master to the speed of light, Screaming up in the air, bursting through the night No rest, I've stayed here too long, It's time to move on Reality's a three way, a scenery defined By tomorrow dubbed a mystery and the past just blurry lines If there's ever been injustice in my name, I bow unto blame And you can give me everything I need this way We'll be loving till the first light of the day Set the world on fire with bitter sweet desire To chase away the night, let the whole world burn Set the world on fire for bliss in sweet denial, oblivion and peace Will you let me burn? OMG Finally a live performance of Daze with the singing in tune XD. No idea why but every other time it's been a bit.... 'off'. That guitar effect at 4:17 also works so well :D
chiffmonkey also yes most live version are a bit off because that falsetto is insanely hard to hit spot on without studio magic. Don't get me wrong, Marko's singing is top notch. These studio live sessions take the absolute best takes out of many, many takes, then studio edited/post fx & synced.
@myshalafi171 heck no, there's no question Marko hits the notes. It's take after take, then the best takes are selected, then edited, post effects, synced, etc. The falsetto is doubled, reverbed/delayed, etc. Normal stuff.
In some performances of Daze, Marko tends to sharp some of the falsetto notes (particularly the high notes at the beginning of each line of the chorus). The funny thing is, even I (as a female with absolutely no problem reaching those higher notes) often do exactly the same thing when I sing Daze. :-P There's something about the power and excitement in the song that creates a tendency to try to sing the chorus with a lot of force and enthusiasm, and if you try to hit those high notes while pushing too much air out at once (because you're just really into the song :-) ), that can cause the notes to sharp slightly. I know that's what happens to me, anyway, and I'm pretty sure that's what happens to Marko. I have to concentrate on not "oversinging" the chorus in order to keep the nigh notes from going sharp unintentionally. I also can't reach the lowest notes in Daze (a problem I have several Poets songs, even though I'm an alto/mezzo soprano, so my voice is lower than some other female singers). Marko's range makes it impossible for me to sing many of their songs in the original key, so with Daze (and Cradled in Love, too), I have to raise the key by a step and a half in order to be able to even *barely* reach the lowest notes while still being able to hit the high notes. Damn you Marko and your amazing voice! :-P
Marko looked like Master of Gansters in that hat on the beginning! So stylish! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Seriously Marko that look was made for you and you need to wear that kind of hats more often miauw 🤗😍😎😍😎🤗 Anyway you are always top stylish! :)
I don’t know if anyone else can hear it, but this song has a big A-Ha vibe - circa Minor Earth Major Sky. It’s not too obvious but once you hear it, it’s phenomenal. This is a truly great band.

Im staying tuned but where is more material :'( (this stuff is seriously awesome, might be better than the album recordings! :O) Cant wait for you to come back to the Netherlands
This is amazing, but i would die to see him ( singer) perform with gavin harrison on drums, with any of the porcupine tree's and pineapple thief's style of musicians. That would be epic.
anyone else think that Jaska should be titled captain? no idea why, just seems fitting instead of the keyboard/effects dude being called captain? thoughts?
This answer might be irrelevant two years later, but - "Captain" is not a title, it's nickname, and it has nothing to do with his instrument. You can find the story behind it on his website.
LOL When I first read your comment I have to admit I thought "Umm... okay... that was stalker-creepy." I went on listening to a lot of other songs with my good headset on, I don't know maybe your comment disturbed me enough to stick with me so maybe I focused more on it or I just didn't realize until reading your comment Yes, we do want to hear him breath, coz it suddenly hit me, Holy-Shit I know what you meant and you are so right, hearing some of his breathing is part of the beauty of some of their songs. But I love this even without hearing the breath.

Aaahhhh you are so right!! It resembles the feel when you are jamming right in the vicinity of the drums
I would have boosted Marko's mic; vocals need to be louder.

Great version, really like the accentuated drums and piano!
somehow songs in all these videos turn out to sound better than the album versions!

xundr well Genelec produces high quality studio loudspeakers but yeah, Potf is an amazing live band too
The engineer for this show was spot on as much as the band
This version is even better. I love the piano

Drifting like a cast off, the shadows got it good
With constant companions, would that I could

listen to Ollie's guitar in the ending - reminicent of The Distance. Thumbs up if you also hear it. Hint: 5:02
Heh maybe you haven't noticed yet but PotF have a habit of riffing on Seal - Crazy. That's what that is.

They are so friggin underrated while "bands" like one direction get fame thrown at them. The unfairness of this whole ordeal makes my skin crawl. :/
