I was born at the hospital in Philippi in Feb of 1943, and graduated from Philippi High in May of 1961, not many family members left there, the young people would leave, and go to Ohio, plenty of jobs to be had in Akron , Youngstown area now I only go back a couple of years not very many relatives left, I loved your video, brings so many memories
What a beautiful area to have grown up in. I have been looking to relocate to WV. Seems to be a peaceful place with decent people. Thank you for the video here and look forward to someday getting down there to see WV for myself.
I was born in Clarksburg grew up there, lived in Elkins West Virginia for 13 years, lived in Buckhannon for 8 months, now living in Zephyrhills Florida,if I ever move back to West Virginia,I think Philippi would be my next choice.
What a beautiful area. My relatives came from Bridgeport, WV. We now live in Stark County OH and I have seen dozens and dozens of Mayles migrate here from Phillipi, WV. Is there a story her or just coincidence? Thx!
@marvindaugherty5989 Henry Daugherty! Man that brings back some great memories. He worked the hay fields for Don Kines. His son Hank, ( u see him call him "Damn it Hank") lol he'll understand, it was a hay field thing 😂. Went to school with Billy. Wow!! This was like a trip in a time capsule. Thank you.
Me and Hank are the same age. Henry's dad Jim and my dad Marvin are brothers. Uncle Jim lived on Union by the tressel. I'm from Ohio but went to Phillipi every summer. If you swam in the Tygart and know where the Indian head carved in the rock is at... My uncle Rob carved that.
What was in the sky starting at 10:06? If I recall correctly there was a radio station in that building so maybe an antenna or something. Break in the clouds maybe. I went to AB from 99-2000, thanks for the dose of nostalgia.

Was born in Myers Clinic 1954. We lived about 5 miles north on rt 250 at Mr. Phillips farm our neighbors were the McBees and Duckworths.
US Route 250 in West Virginia is a North - South highway, while in Ohio it is an East - West highway.IDK
My family lives on Union. I love that place.
Thanks for watching
Remember the bridge before the fire
I've never seen another divided-lane covered bridge.
It’s the only one on a major highway
The Philippi Covered Bridge is the only dual lane covered bridge on a federal highway.
My cousin Henry helped rebuild it after it burned.
