Justin, thx for the very nice video. I had cleaned my terminals and even replaced the battery (it was tired anyway) but still was just getting clicking like something wasn't making good enough contact. I took apart the terminal clamps and cleaned with baking soda/brush. Still just clicking. Once I saw your video, i went back out and removed and cleaned the 2 grounds from the core support - BOOM! Fired right up better than it has in a long time! I recently moved to a new, more humid climate, and i think that took a toll since I'm parking outside until my shop is built. Thank you again! 🙌
Great video. It helped me get my "no crank, no start" issue with my 2001 Bullitt resolved. Got the car running by jumping the starter relay and discovered the previous owner had by-passed the clutch pedal switch which I didn't even know existed before watching your video. I accidently pulled the connection apart while rooting around under the dash hooking up a boost gauge and wide band. Got the by-pass re-connected and it's all good now.
I had this problem and spent over $600 dollars(don’t be me) it ended up being the sensor right by the a/c compressor which was not plugged in all the way. Fuel pump good, fuses good, relays good, wires good, getting gas and spark . Just to end up being a loose connector. Thanks this video helped 🫠
Where is that located I think I have the same issue I’ve replaced absolutely everything ran new wires to the starter from the battery and still just clicking from the starter to sometimes not even a click I’m so confused on what it could possiblly be
Glad I found your video, very thorough video and I think this is gunna help me with a 4.6 motor replacement someone else did. I have taken over the job and needed this
The SN95 negative battery terminal connectors have always giving me trouble. Ocam's Razor -- the simplest solution is sometimes the correct one! But, very informative video about all the little tricks--- bookmarked!
Very informative. I’m having issues with my Mustang starting. Its odometer is all dashes and clicking. It’ll crank like it’s going to start but it won’t turn over. After watching this video I think it’s the CCRM. Wondering if I could get your input
You can have those connectors the lead connectors on their like that. They wont-work. I'll start sometimes but won't start other times I did that with my car. You need them skinny battery ends to put on there. The metal ones.
My 97 v6 completely died yesterday, swapped battery and starter relay and nothing. I’m getting zero lights on the dashboard but my door light still turns on
Man my cobra was having a problem just like this i thought it was the wiring harness to the starter because it wouldn’t start without getting at it with a hammer or screwdriver to both posts of the starter, so I ended up pulling my whole starter wiring harness out cut and redo the wire connections. Anyways it ended up being the ignition switch, now I can take my carbon cobra to cars and curry(((((: edit: it was actually my negative wiring harness I did the ignition switch wasn’t that still kept flashing theft light went through the harness again to find a loose negative wire, fired right up like it wasn’t giving me problems the last week
Could a bad ignition switch allow the car to crank but not start? My instrument cluster has a code that translates to ignition run circuit open. I could crank the car and it would immediately die, however it can run off starting fluid, brand new fuel pump. Dtc 9356
I've had crank no starts happen twice a year apart on my 2004 V6 Mustang. Went through the usual check list, voltage, fuses, vacuum, etc. It was when I hooked up a spark tester to the front driver side plug that the car cranked and started. The first time I thought it might be that fuel just needed to get up front because I had changed the fuel filter, and that was that, but the second time? Thought I'd throw that out there.
@@J2FiDDY Spark plug on front driver side. A new way I've found is to put the key in the start position, leave it on for 10 minutes, move it back to the off position and try cranking it. That worked for me twice as well.
Ok I got one for ya, 2000 gt. May or may not have been drinking and hooked up jump box backwards. Instantly pulled it off now crank no start. Didn’t have multi meter handy but replaced all visible blown fuses. Still no start will continue the chase next days off. Where would you start next. You seem much more familiar with these cars than I am.
Now mine is kind of having the same issue but one day it’ll run fine and then it won’t start and then next day it starts. But I hear a faint click. Can’t tell if it’s a relay or the starter. or if you let it sit for a couple hours and eventually it may start. 2000 GT

I have an 03 GT. Can I grab any CCRM from 99-04 GT Mustang or does it have to be programmed or plug and play? I did a clutch and throw out bearing yesterday after car sat with dead battery for 3 months. Got it all done and had no crank no start. I confirmed starter circuit from plug right at relay box to starter is good I can jump battery voltage to the white pink starter signal wire and it starts right up. Driving it battery light would flicker and odometer would display than I would look down and it was all dashes. I even jumped clutch safety switches didn’t crank still. I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere in the relay fuse box under hood. Any recommendations? Thanks you and your brother are so much help!
Same problem here except it was intermittent and eventually stopped but I dont drive it but once every couple weeks. The solution for me was to tap on the starter and its fine again.
ive got v6 2001 i took off the interior dome light on the top, i was planning to switch the bulbs out to a led but i notced the bulbs were very different and i left it unplugged, couple days later i tried to start it and i got no response, the battery was dead, i replaced it and now i had crank but no start and im kinda stumped, thanks!
Have somebody listen underneath the fuel tank for the pump to prime when you turn the key, not to start, just to prime the pump. just the first click of the key forward
@@justin.c_svt maybe since the battery shorted out could it have shorted the fuel pump system ? I’ll take a look tomorrow, I was reading into the inertia switch and others but just so confused on how the battery died without the connector plugged in
having trouble with getting no power i got new terminals new alternator new battery and im still getting no power at all in a 2000 gt 4.6L automatic i did replace the radiator recently and i think the wiring is very old
03 v6 just doesn't strat, when you turn the key on accessories everything lights up normally, but when you go to start, all the power shuts off. Battery is ok. any ideas
The battery connections might not be completely tight or sometimes when they get tightened down too tight they crack the ring around the battery terminal and don’t connect properly
I have a 2001 Mustang GT being turned into a cobra. It got a 4.6 L engine with an automatic transmission, The car was in the shop for nine months getting the entire suspension redone, which is now complete prior to that I had an alarm system put on the car. The prestige with a remote start. The car works fine. Some nine months later as the car is near to the end of being redone, I turned the ignition won’t start. I bought a new starter brand spanking, new Bosch starter, and a new starter control module, which has been installed crystal won’t start Can somebody please tell me what would be the problem?
I’m guessing it has to do with the aftermarket alarm system. It’s a big stretch but try removing the power seat fuse in the engine bay fuse box. That bypasses my mustangs aftermarket alarm system. Just a shot in the dark
@ they got it started yesterday and they found out the issue. I will test it out today when I get off duty. Thanks again for your help I will keep you updated
has anyone with 99-04 mustang had a problem with the seat belt warning chime and light constantly going off not only when the seat belts are latched but also when the car is running in park and all the seats are completely empty, and the normal factory seat belt minder disable procedure will not activate so you can't disable system, there are no SRS codes????
I have an '04 GT. The anti-theft system is locked out The car cranks hard but won't start. This problem started after I did some welding on the car. How can I reset the anti-theft system?
I had my car die on me about a year ago and it wouldbt start to save my life. The 1st slot for the fuse in the fuse box under the hood broke it took me days to figure it out. That fuse is for the fuel pump so i ran a wire from the 1st broken fuse slot to the 3rd fuse and til this day hasnt failed me
@justin.c_svt I'm not sure but the plastic on that area is very fragile. Going to order a new fuse box eventually but for now it works fine with the wire I put on there.
You may be able to get it to run by cranking it and shooting starter fluid into the throttle body while cranking it. When you don’t have the key, the pats antitheft system cuts fuel so you may be able to give it fuel with the starter fluid just enough to get it to run.
@BCD.Felipe You can take the serpentine belt off and rotate the engine clockwise with a big socket wrench to see if the engine is locked up. Running for a few seconds won’t give you much to go off if it has a spun bearing, you can check the oil for metal or milk (coolant or water in the oil) and check the spark plugs to see what they look like. As long as you can get it to crank you can do a compression test too
So my starter, alternator, and battery are good I checked my starters wires and theyre good i checked my grounds and theyre all tight and my car clicks and then acts like it has no power any idea?
Did you change anything since the last time the car ran? Even though the battery might test 12 V it still might be a bad battery and as soon as you go to start it it drops to zero.
@justin.c_svt well I have a extra negative cable that's grounding out the negative terminal to allow it to start like normal but my Amp and train horn don't get power and I took a voltage tester and it went off on my block
@money-pitmustang This is the issue I always get when people ask me questions and I find out that they have a bunch of variables in the equation. How am I supposed to ever guess that you have a train horn and an amp installed, wires installed who knows where, and try to figure out what the issue is when those things could be causing the issue?
