I still need a lot of practice though lol So far I have been working on fixing up my old quilt that my grandmother gave me. @@thebusybee957 Hmm..I might not be the best at explaining it either, but if you mean the thread when it hangs out of the needle/bobbin area, I have it face me/the front of the machine. Also random tip, try not to use the reverse function. I tried a couple times and got some bad jams. XD luckily got them untangled.
I’m having so much trouble with the main input/output connecting to the machine. It doesn’t seem to want to push all the way into the machine, so there’s 1/2 the silver metal still showing. This can’t be right?? It won’t go in any further.
I just bought this same machine a month ago. But today ..the thread got stuck at the U turn compartment..hence the needle has no thread feeding it..so no stitches...anyone knows how to fix this problem? Appreciate if you can advise🙏 Otherwise it is truly a great machine ..I wish to continue sewing like I never did in my life before.. And I truly would wish all my fellow novice sewing friends not to give up..take it slow..it is really rewarding..trust me...

Thank you! I really could not understand how to thread the bobbin with the blurry picture in the manual and this helped a lot! It still feels like sorcery that it threads by turning the wheel counter clockwise ha ha!
Apparently, there is a timing issue between the needle and the rotating wheel underneath it that supposed to pick up the bottom bobbin thread. I saw this by carefully examining how the the rotating wheel hook should catch the thread from the needle. I was able to fix this by using a screw driver to place the thread on the hook. But despite of this the machine is not stitching. I guess it's a very bad design of the machine. And most probably the machine is faulty, since a lot of people reported the same issue including me.
You need to take the face off of the machine and adjust the screw of the needle bar which is in the middle of the hexagonal washer/bolt thing. It's very easy to do. I have this machine and it's something I have to do frequently. The needle bar always seems to shift. My husband inserted a rubber band around the screw, he's an engineer and said that there should have been a washer there to prevent shifting to begin with so we will see how that goes. I do a lot of sewing and this isn't my main machine so I haven't even used it heavily. I love the design and size of the machine so I'm thinking of switching out some parts if possible and upgrading it myself.
@@gladysmatloga3068 Sorry to hear you are struggling still. This is the best video I found. I notice I wrote my initial comment 4 years ago. I enjoy using this machine for small projects. However, it isn't good if you try to sew anything that is a little bit thick. Be very careful about putting the bobbin in the correct way and I have to keep the winding thread lifted a bit at the back as it is winding, as it doesn't go up and down evenly from top to bottom. Good luck with it.

Your instructions said to thread the needle from back to front. When you put up a caution just after you then said to thread the needle from front to back. So which is it?
1:31Your comment was a few months ago. But, to help anyone else wondering. They were talking about the needle threader at that point. To push the needle threader pin thing, from the back of the needle eye to the front, us looping the thread in and pulling the needle threader out. Will make us thread from front to back. Their main thing take away was, whether we use that method or don't, to make sure we thread needle eye front to back.
I thankful for this product. I recieved mind two months ago. I really like this product. It works well and I enjoyed sewing. @@Stuffyoushouldknow. per research, it's the timing of the needle and hook under the bobbin. The timing must be adjusted: either the hook will be adjusted, or the needle will be adjusted. I will have a friend working in Brother who'll help me this Saturday. I'll give update.

I do have a question though that I haven't heard covered in your FAQ video, and that is this: I just got this machine and I want to do Stitch number nine zigzag and when I try to do it the needle hits the presser footer and Ben's and then breaks in half and I've now broken to Needles and I don't know why just opened this yesterday and already both Needles have broken. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
Hope you can help me. My FHSM-505 would get stuck after a few stitches even when the fabric I am stitching is not too thin and not too thick. It would stitch about 4 stitches and then stops. After turning the hand wheel, it would stitch again but only a few then gets stuck again. I hope you could tell me the problem of my machine. Thank you.

Do you know where a person would find additional attachments for this machine such as variety of pressure feet etc. I have this machine and I like it so far but I thought it was going to come with other accessories.
Pressure feet designed as "snap on" should fit this machine. The feet will have a little bar for the pressure foot holder to snap on to. Avoid feet that have a shank attached.
I have broken thread caught inside the tight compartment of take up lever. Just received my machine and only used for 10minutes. Please please help. Thank you

I changed out the color thread. But now it's tangled up with the bobbin and thread. So I'm wondering if I can only use one or the other? I sure hope I'm making sense 😂
Hello! When you get the product, it is pre wired before leaving the factory. If you change the color or the coil is used up, you must thread it again. First, you need to remove the original spool or coil and replace it! thank you!

Hello I have a similar machine but they call it a Birgitta now the machine instructions says flat side to the RIGHT but the Universal needles says flat side BACK. If I follow the Universal way will this effect the function of the machine? Also I have found replacing the needle tricky (either way) its wobbly falls outs tried many times to no avail. This machine worked for me on a couple small repairs then when kaplooey somewhere in the bobbin area. Needle goes down and pulls to the left and it gets jumbled up right from the start. Very disappointing as I have sewn since I was 12 on a Japanese Kenmore that has been broken for years, so I got this cheapy thing as a "quick fix." Well, at least I got to repair two things. If anyone has any tips for the same problem, I'd appreciate. It's not the tension, I don't believe, but something is not connecting in the bobbin area. Plus the magnet that holds the bobbin is nothing like the compartment that holds the bobbin in my old Kenmore.
I watched the video, but the tread keeps jamming. I have followed all the steps. It's driving me crazy can't figure out what's wrong. Have not been able to sew anything. Please help, or it's going back 🙏
It okayy video but I just buy yesterday how ever it has some people the fabric keep on going in the thing and when the fabric got stuck after that needles doesn't work properly also the light keep going off and on can some one please help me to fix this
I ordered this machine and the foot pedal doesn't work. You need good hand eye coordination in order to hold your fabric with your left hand while controlling the power switch at the same time. You have to use your left hand to help glide the fabric in a straight line. It takes some practice and overall the machine works well. I'm thinking maybe a walking foot might help but not certain it will fit this machine. I'm still going to replace this for a full size machine.
Pro, if the foot pedal is broken, just find the foot pedal of the corresponding machine model, and there is no need to buy a complete machine again! Some models can sew without foot pedal!
Hi! Did you try a walking foot already? Was wondering too if a walking foot can fit in this machine. My foot pedal is kinda hard, when i use it, it just goes off so fast

The machine can be controlled by foot or manually toggle the switch to control the speed of sewing. The two can be used at the same time or separately!

In my case, I just let the thread slip from the slider then hold it when I begin to stitch. It will automatically be pick up by the needle .
Check the upper thread if you put it on the right way
Pull on the upper thread while turning the hand wheel towards you.

@@shabbyrosecreationsbykem of cos u need both top n bottom in order to sew. top spool n bottom bobbin. and need to thread n fellow all step correctly n when put the bottom bobbin make sure it catch n loop up if not it will not sew. i practice how to thread the machine correctly so it sew if is not done right then do not sew at all.😂😂
@@creativekat109 actually it's not of COURSE! Especially when you're a brand new sewer trying to learn. I've never sewn anything in my life. So just because YOU know how to sew, doesn't mean we ALL know how to sew. Btw: cos isn't how you spell course!! I simply asked a legitimate question, as I didn't know! So please don't be rude by saying "of course"!

Hello I have a similar machine but they call it a Birgitta now the machine instructions says flat side to the RIGHT but the Universal needles says flat side BACK. If I follow the Universal way will this effect the function of the machine?
Also I have found replacing the needle tricky (either way) its wobbly falls outs tried many times to no avail. Can you tell me what the problem is? Please.

You have to check the power wire's connections, I did it in my machine and discovered bad and weak connection so I fixed.

I saw somewhere that when sewing soft fabrics, it's best to put a thin piece of paper under the fabric and sew with the fabric.

This machine worked for me on a couple small repairs then when kaplooey somewhere in the bobbin area. Needle goes down and pulls to the left and it gets jumbled up right from the start. Very disappointing as I have sewn since I was 12 on a Japanese Kenmore that has been broken for years, so I got this cheapy thing as a "quick fix." Well, at least I got to repair two things. If anyone has any tips for the same problem, I'd appreciate. It's not the tension, I don't believe, but something is not connecting in the bobbin area. Plus the magnet that holds the bobbin is nothing like the compartment that holds the bobbin in my old Kenmore.

It okayy video but I just buy yesterday how ever it has some people the fabric keep on going in the thing and when the fabric got stuck after that needles doesn't work properly also the light keep going off and on can some one please help me to fix this

I ordered this machine and the foot pedal doesn't work. You need good hand eye coordination in order to hold your fabric with your left hand while controlling the power switch at the same time. You have to use your left hand to help glide the fabric in a straight line. It takes some practice and overall the machine works well. I'm thinking maybe a walking foot might help but not certain it will fit this machine. I'm still going to replace this for a full size machine.
Pro, if the foot pedal is broken, just find the foot pedal of the corresponding machine model, and there is no need to buy a complete machine again! Some models can sew without foot pedal!

The machine can be controlled by foot or manually toggle the switch to control the speed of sewing. The two can be used at the same time or separately!
