One of the biggest reasons why you'd want to use mgba instead of having them native on your system is purely for that fast forward option if you're playing something like pokemon or any other kind of rpg.
How i can activate the fast forward?
@@AgenteS9 Go to "Configure" in the emulator, then select "Remap keys" and scroll until you find the Fast Forward options.

it’s laggy for some reason
Dude my audio is kind of stuttering when trying to play GBC using this emulator, I'm using an original 3ds, is the system not powerful enough to run this properly or do you think it might be a different issue, and thanks for the tutorial btw.

@@albertbernal7434 na i just downloaded the games from the Hshop and played the game natively, you guys should do that. Since then I've done this and played through like 10 different NES, GB and GBC

Love your tutorials when are you going to teach us how to get DS games on Wii U, there’s very few tutorials on RUclips for it, and the ones that are on YT fail to explain it as easily understandably as you do your tutorials
Hi, been loving your tutorials thank you so much for them! One thing is though, this emulator is running really slowly for me with choppy frames and audio. Is there any way to fix this? I've read on the mGBA website that they say you should sync the audio but I can't find that as a option to select? Many thanks!
A bit late, but mGBA only runs well on the New 3DS models.
The New 3DS had a substantially more powerful CPU, and even then mGBA barely runs fine.
For old 3DS models (The ones that don't have "New" in the title), mGBA won't ever run well...
You can still play GBA games with a VC injector tool, since the 3DS has hidden GBA hardware in it.

open_agb_firm is a much better option. Why emulate when the 3DS family all have the required hardware to run GBA games natively already built in? For GB and GBC games, Gameyob has better compatibility than mGBA. Don't get me wrong, for GBA games, mGBA is the go to emulator if you're playing on a non-native device like a PC or a smartphone as long as the specs support running mGBA at full speed. But for the 3DS family, open_agb_firm for GBA and Gameyob for GB/GBC is the way to go.
Can open_agb_firm fast forward like mgba?

Open agb firm works for all 3ds,
It is not an emulator. The 3ds has built in gba hardware in it minus the gba slot gamepak and link cable.
but how to run that on the 3ds??? i have it downloaded in Luma folder in payloads but still doesn’t work
@@mattguxxxtt9629 you have to hold the start button while powering on the 3ds, then you should see the option to click open_agb_firm

-first i right clicked
-second i chose the open with option
-third i clicked extract button
-fourth i put the extracted files as shown in the video

The virtual console has a small variety of gba games so im happy that I found a gba emulator. All we need now is for someone to make a wii, and a wii U emulator.

@qahiko_ After a while I found that a gba injector worked better for me, I was able to get all the games I wanted without any struggle, idk why this videos method made my laptop all fussy but id def recommend the injector route instead :))

How do you load cheats onto mGBA?
Question. I’m using the mGBA emulator and none of the games are playing with sound.
And on TwiLight some don’t play and the one which do have sound.

Emulation on mGBA is pretty poor on my n3DSXL it would have been great to go over how to setup the config file to get decent performance.

GBA emulation is not very good on the 3ds. Some GBA games run fine and some are very slow. 3DS hardware is not very powerful.
Why does it lag so harshly on an O2DS?
it depends on the game, i'd suggest playing gba games from an inject (cia file) on o3ds
amazing video but when i try to load the games they lag do you know why and can i fix it ?
A lot of the games in green are pretty stuttery, is there a way to optimize the way things run? If that's how high compatibility runs, I'd hate to see low compatibility.

You can just make them native packages instead. Why bother with emulation
these don't take up slots on your home menu, i forget what the limit is but there is one

the 3ds has gba hardware build in you could use new super ultimate injector to make an inject

3ds emulation is best on "new" models, you could always upgrade if that's possible for you :)
Can I just say that twilight menu runs mgba games better? I'm not sure why but it does for me.

Debateable.
Because the 3ds contains an arm7tdmi CPU & audio DSP block like the gba, which is used for gameboy advance games. Not really an accurate description for an hardware assisted emulator.
And filesystem access as a substitute for not having an actual game pak slot is a moot point anyway.
There is a site by rodrigo copetti documenting everything about 3ds to get an better understanding about the system.

After some research it seems the old 3DS isn’t powerful enough to run mgba. This is only for the New versions. Not sure if there’s a work around or not
It's just too slow i'm afraid. I have both a new3ds and an old one and it's too slow on the old one, pretty much unplayable at least for the games i tested.

On old 3ds XL I get 20-40 fps across the board. Nothing is playable.
Try using hshop to get vc versions of the game for old 3ds

If you are on an old 3ds, you can inject gba games as virtual console titles, or use gbarunner2, which both don't use emulation. I use gbarunner2 because it's an easier setup. There is certain games that don't run well, but majority still work fine.
