  • Welcome to the Oldest City in Iowa - Dubuque!
This beautiful city on the Mississippi River was founded in 1833 but was settled by the Meskwaki American Indians long before then. The city is named after a French Explorer who first visited the area in 1785 - Julien Dubuque.
Today Dubuque has a lot to offer, from cruises on the Mississippi River to beautiful churches, museums and beautiful river walkway. In this video, I want to share some of the history of Dubuque, take you to the best overlook of the city, known as the Fenelon Place Elevator, and walk through the streets of Dubuque. I hope you are ready to be amazed by this city as much as I was!

Winter wasn’t the most ideal time to visit but I just so happened to be passing through so it was still fun to explore the churches and the main downtown area

I wish I did! The funicular was not open, I’m sure the greenery adds a lot more livelihood to the area. I just wanted to visit the area before moving to Colorado and this was the only time I could

2:39 A banker, JD Graves- not a mayor built the funicular. He cut his lunchtime commute by 30 minutes, which allowed him a nap.

Thank you for correcting! I knew that someone wanted to cut their commute, maybe I misread:)
