Will 17 Inch Wheels Fit on a 2022 Toyota Tundra? Let's Find Out with 35 Inch Tires

- This video, we test 17 inch wheels on the new 2022 Toyota Tundra. The smallest wheels the 3rd generation Tundra equipped from Toyota is 18-inch wheels. This question seems to be all over the internet, so let's find out!
After we verify the fitment, we install 35-inch tires on the truck. We do not have a lift yet, so the 35s rub a little. It also does not help install mud-terrain tires because they have a more aggressive tread pattern.
Why would someone want to go down to 17-inch tires? Having a more tire to wheel ratio is better for off-road use as there is more surface area that contacts the dirt.
Looking for 2022 Toyota Tundra parts? We will have everything at Runnin4Tacos.com.
Ok that's what I want on my 2022 tundra!!!!
Oh snap! I see a roof rack. I need that too
Man those tires make it look so much nicer.
Can’t wait to see what a new front bumper from C4 will look like on this beast!!
Nice Tundra, can't wait to see one in person. Thanks for the 17" wheel/tire info!
They look great in person. Saw the midnight blue one last week 🔥🔥
ok the tundra look is growing on me after seeing this
I just saw a Celestrial Silver in person……fully chromed out the way many folks do not like…….sitting on 20s/33s and that think was sooooooo cleeeeeeean man! It took my breath away. I was going for the Lunar Rock color until I saw the silver with black wheels n tires.
that Tundra is awesome and looks like a beast
That truck looks dope! Can’t wait to see what it looks like with the lift and bumper on
I enjoy what you’re doing with the new truck. Looking great! I was curious if the new tundra has stake pockets to accept expandable rubber mounts for a track rack. I have been asking everyone. I recently ordered an sr5 w/trd off-road pkg. Keep up the great videos! Thanks, Lauren from Ma.
Thanks! We aren't sure about the stake pockets unfortunately
Mannnnn this tundra looks great. People were bashing the new tundra’s looks but I always pictured it built up with beefier tires and better wheels and always thought the tundra design was perfectly fine and had massive potential. All it needs now is suspension and lift. The only thing I don’t like is how much chrome there is on the off road package trims, they should’ve blacked everything out on the off road trims and packages but other than that, the actual design and silhouette of the truck is awesome
I totally agree. The chrome on the OR package should be color-matched
What a sweet rig!! Can't wait to watch this turn into a MONSTER!!
Thank you! We appreciate it!
Good to know. Just gotta be careful where you place the weights. I had a 2004 STi and it had no clearance for weights in some places on the stock BBS wheels.
Truck looks good. 0 offset should be better. That’s what I’m running on my 4R.
Yeah, we got away with one single strip of weights.
I was thinking about when u got my tundra I was going to put my SCS wheel with 17x8.5 -10 offset but I guess I will just sell them because they will be to much poke for me thanks for putting it to the test been wondering if they would be to much
Great video, helps my decision on 17 or 18” a lot more. Just not sure if I want 0 to -10 offset.
This looks great on the SR5. What is the impact on acceleration and gas mileage please?
Awesome information. Can you share the exact wheel specs by any chance? Width and wheel offset or back spacing? I just subscribed and will be building a 2022 Tundra as well. Thanks.
Nevermind. You mentioned -10 offset three quarters of the way in the video. I totally agree, a 0 offset might look better.
I just got my 2023 Sequoia. Will this size fit on my ride as well? I believe the bolt pattern is the same.
Nice! Now I’m waiting for the video of the 33s on the gen2 taco 😎
Hope you saw it!
@@Runnin4Tacos sure did thank you!
Great info. I was thinking i'd use some 17x9 -12 offset wheels, but they may stick out too far
I’ve heard that the front rear fender is a safety feature to prevent the front wheels going into the cab do to a front and collision and warranty will be voided if cut? Any info on this if correct or not ? And great video can’t wait to see her all built up and on the trails
Interesting that it rubbed a bit, another guy fitted 17" on 37" and didn't rub. Maybe the MT lugs are just that much more aggressive than AT
They definitely are. Also, if they installed BFG tires then that's another reason. BFG runs small so a 37 might actually be 36
I remember that one. They guy "pinned" the lower inner fender liner back farther to keep the rear from rubbing. Plus a lift on it. An still had front rubbing on the Air dam in the front. Plus as R4T said the BFG KO2's that he had on there are slightly smaller.
@@42medwards yeah I went back to watch it again, pinned the fender, and had a small lift too.
Looks good. Hope someone figures out how to retrofit front tow hooks on the '22 for a reasonable price.
We can look into that!
🔥🔥🔥Those look awesome.
2022 tundra TRD pro should’ve came with 17 inch wheels and stock 35’s
Yeah, it really should
33s , 35s or 37s should have been factory options.
What is the exactly size of the rims and tires please
Love what you guys have done so far. I'm looking to get a limited lunar rock long bed. My question is I have a 2018 tacoma trdoffroad with 17in wheels and 265 70 r17 tires. Will these fit on a new tundra? I mean lug nut pattern work.
I believe it is the same lug pattern... Which is 6x139.7
The wheels will fit on the new Tundra. I just don't know how it will look with the offset that looked good on a Tacoma.
It looks perfect.
ok question, i have 35's and i have your lower control arm skid plates on stock lca's when i turn the tire all the way to one side it hits the plate, how have you guys fixed that on your tacoma?
It sounds like the issue is your wheel spacing. If you don't have enough negative offset then 35s will rub
@@Runnin4Tacos yes, i have 0 offset, i got .75 spacers but my studs arent long enough and if i get 1.25 i think i have to cut part of the studs so i have been told, and also not sure if adding spacers would make it rub on the tub or firewall etc,, is there any other fix
Do you know if a 17x9+18 will rub on caliper? I see 17x8.5+0 don’t. But just want to make sure before ordering a set. 🤙🏼
It's still a 17 inch so you won't have issues
@@Runnin4Tacos but lower offset (more positive) wont hit the caliper?
Love the Roof Rack n the Bed Setup. Wholeset Cost?
What brand wheels are those? I like the look.
These are Ryder wheels, Unfortunately, they are no longer in business.
I guess my only worry is if you barely fit a 17 with stock brakes, it seems inevitable, you will need to go to a 18 and sacrifice sidewall in order to fit a big brake system and calipers. Trade off seems worth it though if your serious about running a full overlanding rig and being safe. Not sure If I want to sacrifice going to 37 or even more just to have to body chop and sacrifice spec ride tolerances for the drivetrain and suspension that you would have to upgrade. $$$$$$
Link for wheels?
Not a fan of this new tundra. That front end looks awful. plus what's with the grill lights is it as wide as a TRX or a raptor just for show? Also not V8 sad.
Sick video
Is there a level kit or lift on this truck? Or do the 35s fit stock height.
Stock at the moment
Thanks for the video
Of course!
looks so good
So the 18 inch trd pro 4runners will work
what is the offset of the stock tire? I get different answers online, one website said the tundra 22 trd offroad stock alloy wheel is +60 offset.
I do not know the offset of the stock wheels.
Given that the 2023 Sequoia is on the same exact platform do you guys think that it will be able to ride on 37s like the desert chase tundra without rubbing issues when you pin back the fender liner?
Anything is possible but not without a lot of cutting
Good job
Nice setup…
Yea you can run those tires but you can't turn without having spacers. They will rub the upper A arms right?
They do not rub the UCAs. They already stick out way too much
Does this have a level kit with the 35’s?
Anyone have a link to those second set of wheels? They look so dope on the new tundra!
They are the Ryder Off-Road wheels. They can be found on Google, sorry we don't have a link
Recommendation for 17in wheel base no lift if I want max tire
o rub?
I would go with 34s
What spec tire?
Where do you get the rack system, and who installs something like that?
Runnin4Tacos.com. If you are in Denver then we can.
what about when you back up and turn either direction at full lock? any rub?
We mentioned in the video that we do rub but we plan to fix that
wow looks sick...
Try the steel spare from a 4Runner. Does it fit ?
Yeah it's the same lug pattern
Does the truck have a level on it at this point with the 35s.
No it does not
@@Runnin4Tacos 35s with no level. Pretty awesome. I have 33s on mine and it rubs pretty bad. Wheels I bought have too much poke I think
106.1 bore size??
Sweet! that is good to know.
Yessir!
@@Runnin4Tacos this also means that if the caliper bolt hole loactions are the same, this could be a easy retrofit on a tacoma.
What is size of the hub? Its not 106mm like the Tacoma i was told it was about 95mm .. anyone know ?
I don't know but it should be the same as the Tacoma/4Runner
Nice!
what wheels and spec are those that were put on?
ooh RR01 17x8.5 ET-10 6x139.7 106.1 - Matte Black? Ryder Off road
Correct
How many inches did you have to lift the car?
No lift yet
Can anyone help. I’m getting 18x9 wheels but I don’t know what offset I need? I want the tires to stick out only a little bit like 3/4”-1”
Around -12
I would recommend something between +18 to about a 0 offset
+18 is perfect imho
What wheels are those exactly? Anyone know?
Ryder OffRoad
What is the bolt pattern on the 2022 tundra?
6x5.5
How can you remove that chrome thing in the front
We are fixing that this week. We'll be painting or wrapping it
Is that on stock suspension?
It is
If u do a 22” what’s the offset can u run without hitting the caliper and with NO spacers like -19 the most u can go ??
If you have 22-inch wheels you will not have to worry about hitting your calipers
with 22's you will have rim/wheel damage on bridges. stick with more "meat" on wheels. not less.
You getting a 4X2? Putting them 26s on there ehhh?
@@DreX-8810 4x4
Which offset are those RRW R7’s
Those are a -25
What if there is articulation?
The wheels do not move no matter what you do
Wow👏👍
great start, please do something about that chrome.
We are this week
18s clear a 2020-2022 Ram 1500s brakes with the thickness of a playing card to spare, so the Tundra must have substantially smaller brakes. Disappointing.
smaller doesn't mean that they are worse. I think if you are going to compare any dodge stock brakes to a toyota's stock brakes you are crazy. My 2008 Tundra stock brakes lasted over 100k and my friends dodge had to do them twice in that time.
Lol I knew they would rub
Can’t lie I cringed at the idea of down sizing to increase the tire, but that actually looks good.
If I were you, I wouldn't be concerned about the new Tundra's wheel size.. I'd be worried about the turbos failing
No need to improve its off-road capabilities when it has no tow hooks
How about front row hooks???;)
Tow hooks
I don't believe there is any, sadly
@@Runnin4Tacos RND and make it!!;)
That's fine and all but I wanna see someone yank that turd v6 out of it and adapt a 5.7 to the new transmission
A 389hp V6 that’s not tuned n also pulls 11k pounds? You gotta quit being a skeptic man n at least go drive one.
Rubbing come when you spin the while....during cornerd
Any V6 truck should not be lifted.
Ford, Ram, & Chevy will continue to dominate the full-size segment. Toyota missed the mark on this design & sales will prove that. You guys did a great job, because the Tundra in stock form is ugly AF.
I agree, Toyota needs to step up big time.
Just a FYI... THE TUNDRA WILL FiT A 20" WHEEL. I HAVE ONE!
Oh you should have said can you fit 35" TIRES.. NOT 17" RIMS
Going bigger wheels is not an issue. People on forums wanted to know if they can fit 17" wheels which is why we made the video.
Too much offset bruh.
100% haha. We are planning a 0 offset or + 18 or so to get it dialed in
Those are not suitable for street racing.
Great video! Love it! I have 17x9 Fuel wheels with -12 offset on KO2s. How much approximate poke will that be?
I couldn't tell you unfortunately. Probably more than what you see here because it is a 9" wheel
Did you put these on your truck? I may do the same 17x9 inch wheels with -12 offset
@@TheGaginator haven't yet, but soon! Also, other people on various FB/IG Tundra groups have- their Tundra builds are 🔥 with the 2022's
Fugly looking front grill, why Toyota why?
It is pretty massive but we'll make the most of what they give us
That things ugly.
👌
Wow....get a better camera
We will work on our camera skills and try to purchase a better camera to meet your viewing needs. Please forgive us 🙏
@@Runnin4Tacos Awesome video work, appreciate the efforts. I can say better then Scott’s. haha.
Hi. Whats new bolt pattern for 2022?
